My experience with BSS Commerce was one of the worst I've had since working with Magento.
I relied on them for a series of issues and implementations during a migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2. I had already provided a list of problems to solve. They gave me an initial estimate but told me they needed to perform a full audit of the site to confirm it. Thinking they were reliable developers, I trusted them and paid $1,295 USD for the audit alone on February 5, 2025.
Over 3 weeks later, the audit finally arrived, and they estimated around 375 hours of development work. I removed everything that wasn't necessary and was willing to move forward.
So, I decided to test them and asked them to fix a few bugs before proceeding.
That's when the nightmare began. They fixed one issue and broke another without checking what they were doing. Then they started pressuring me with offers of 10–15% discounts on their hourly rates if I signed up for 50- or 100-hour monthly maintenance packages—without considering the urgent issues I had already presented when I entrusted them with the development.
I decided to terminate the relationship and lost around $1,300 without getting anything in return. They had also said they would refund some of the unused hours, but after two weeks I haven’t seen anything and they’re no longer responding to my messages.
I interacted with the following people: Clara, Amy, Alison, Andrea. I hope this review helps other users stay away from this company.

There were no measurable outcomes that demonstrated progress or success.
Despite paying for an audit and attempting initial collaboration, no tangible improvements were delivered. The issues I asked to be resolved were either ignored or handled poorly, often causing new problems. The collaboration ended with no usable deliverables and a financial loss.

The project management was extremely poor.
They did not deliver items on time — the audit alone took over 3 weeks, far beyond reasonable expectations. Communication was inconsistent, and they often failed to follow through on commitments. When I raised issues, they responded with upselling attempts rather than addressing the problems at hand. There was a clear lack of organization and quality control, as fixes would often break other parts of the system. Overall, my needs were not understood or prioritized, and the entire process felt disorganized and unprofessional.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Unfortunately, I did not find anything impressive or unique about this company.
The entire experience was disappointing — from the lack of accountability and delayed communication to the poor quality of work and pressure to commit to large maintenance packages. Nothing in their approach stood out in a positive way.
Are there any areas for improvement or something BSS Commerce could have done differently?
There are several areas BSS Commerce could improve on.
First and foremost, they need to focus on quality control — fixes should not introduce new problems. Clear, transparent communication is also essential, especially when delays occur or expectations change. Their project management should prioritize the client’s initial needs rather than pushing sales of large maintenance packages. Finally, honoring refund commitments and responding to messages promptly would go a long way in rebuilding trust.
