The product is a well known player in the Shopify app ecosystem now. We are continuing to grow the company every day.

Yes they are very timely. We manage 2-week sprints and the team at TBI communicates daily on progress via Skype and JIRA tickets. Every two weeks we meet on a live call to go over the sprint and prepare for the next one.
And about once per year the founder of TBI flies out to California to meet with me in person and discuss strategy and goals for the next year.

Phase one included creating a web based platform that was customizable for our clients. Phase two included a mobile version of the platform. Phase three involved a major overhaul to create a much more expansive backend so that we could offer the platform as a true SaaS model and give other trainers, coaches, creators their own accounts and access to the backend creator tools that previously were only for one user.
There have been dozens of interations as well as product updates in functionality, UX and UI as well as several custom projects that were required to meet certain larger clients' needs. Their team also served as our tech support and directly communicated with end users as an extension of our team. They have been an invaluable as a partner in many ways.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Our entire company has been built around our online and mobile platform. We've served hundreds of clients including big names like Toyota, Bloomingdale's, Thomson Reuters, and even NASA. Our platform has been used by the SEC and dozens of school districts as well as for hundreds of trainers and coaches to deliver their content to their clients. Over 100,000 people have used our platform over the past decade and it's created millions of dollars in revenue for us and our clients.

I don't think I've ever had a business partnership with the level of trust I've had with their team. We met regularly. They were always prepared, open to our feedback, extremely responsive to our requests and those of our end users. But possibly the most impressive quality of our relationship with them has been their attitude. They never said that they couldn't do something. They would listen to our ideas and requests and then figure out a couple options that we could pursue.
They always treat our projects as if they're a part of us, with the same pride and commitment to excellence we have.

As with any start up, we had several pivots, unforeseen challenges and a hundred other unpredictable things come up over the years. Brihaspati was always understanding and patient with us even in moments where I can only imagine how hard it would have been to be our partner. I've found them to be extremely responsive and customer oriented. When plans are made and deadlines defined they make every effort to meet them, including working long hours and weekends if needed.

I think the magic sauce (if it can be called that) is in the leadership. Kunal is extremely bright, knowledgeable, and personable - and quick to grasp what you require. He's been successful in putting procedures in place that allow his team to be on top of their assignments. For example - on long term projects, they have a backup person for each engineer, so that if a person leaves, or needs to be replaced on the team, this can be done relatively seamlessly.
As a team, they also seem to have found a way to be on top of current technologies - so, for example, when we needed to delve into React Native they had relevant expertise already on board. This was very handy to say the least. It is the leadership that makes all this happen.

We needed extra developers beyond our internal team to work on some functionality for the platform. Modules needed to be built and we were expanding some existing features.

What was the scope of their involvement?
First, we asked them to build a Shopify plug-in that tied into our platform. I was impressed by them when they finished, so we rolled out stablecoins into our platform with their help. That took about two months to do, and that’s about all we used them for.
We guided them to what we wanted since they were lending a helping hand, which worked well for us. We gave them the requirements or the scope of work and they followed it really well. To keep everything on the right track, we had to engage with them every day to work issues out.

They had a manager we’d deal with for the frontend stuff and administration, and then they assigned us a backend person for the technical code building. We put them into our Slack channel, so it was a seamless introduction. Everyone knew what they were doing and were on the same page.
They were very communicative, and the technical contractor was very responsive to any issues, whether there were bugs or something wasn’t built correctly. He was very flexible in listening to our needs. Sometimes things don’t pan out the way you thought they would when you’re building something, and the contractor was quick to make the necessary changes. There was no negative feedback on that.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were very hard-working. We had a schedule we wanted to nail down — a specific date we wanted to nail — and they were very helpful. Sometimes we didn’t meet deadlines along the way but that happens with projects. Their commitment in keeping with the project was focused.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We opened up our codebase to them and had them sign NDA’s, but those can only go so far so that was more a security issue on our side. Building a procedure around destroying the code or making sure it’s not visible after the project would be good for their framework.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a technical person leading because these people just want to build stuff. If you don’t have the direction ready for them, you’re probably not going to get what you want. You have to lay out the foundation and features.

I’m one of the founders of a commercial real estate data research and brokerage company. In my role, I handle the development of the site and general management work to grow the business.

We engaged them to help with the IT component of our website because we weren’t having much success with other third parties.

What was the scope of their involvement?
They assisted us in our effort to redevelop our entire website, essentially creating an email alert system based on user property preferences. They’ll pull data from our database and email subscribers based on a list of criteria. Their team has added several other features and functionalities as well. One pretty unique feature is buyer matching. They built out a system that allows individuals to submit property details to populate a list of potential buyers that align with their input.
What is the team composition?
We have one project manager, a developer, and a designer. Those are the three people actively working on it, but our group chats contain five members of their team.

Every day, they send me a report explaining what each of their teammates did for the project that day. Otherwise, we communicate over Skype calls and Upwork’s chat function. Skype’s video calls have been helpful because they allow us to share screens. They’ll also record video updates to do along with the messages they send. We’re active in communicating back and forth.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re good at understanding our needs and can implement solutions quickly. No matter what, they’re responsive and keep me up to date on progress. I have tons of experience with smaller teams as partners, but this was truly a turnkey IT solution. They offer everything we needed: a chain of command, organizational charts, project managers, and specialists in various fields. This is a fully integrated team with significant, helpful resources.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Because we’re working remotely and communicating through messages and images, some things get lost in translation. Everyone in these relationships probably struggles with this, though. They could try to be more thorough in their communication, but I really don’t have any major complaints.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear on your project’s goals, not leaving much up to the imagination. I use tools to draw out what I want certain parts of the site to look like. If you don’t make sure you’re communicating clearly, you could end up wasting time and money because they never understood your intentions for the solution.

We had an idea for an app, and we needed somebody that had the skills to develop the app for Shopify.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. is helping us develop an app that allows any Shopify store to run sweepstakes for their customers. The app combines all of the entries and picks one winner out of every 100 entries, granting the winner 100% cashback on whatever they purchase from the store.
They’ve taken our input and developed the app’s backend so that it can run on Shopify. The team has developed the frontend so that stores can see the billing system and what they’re doing, and contestants can see their entries.
The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. is also working on a web-based portal for all of the Shopify stores that run our app. We plan to build a platform in the future, and they’ll help with that as well.
What is the team composition?
My main points of contact include a project manager, a developer, and a sales manager. There are others behind the scenes, but I don’t speak to them on a regular basis.
How did you come to work with The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd.?
I looked for developers that had experience with Shopify apps. We contacted The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. We’re pretty much in contact with them every day, or we at least have a phone call once a week to get updates on their progress. We communicate via Skype, email, and messaging. They’ve been on the ball with everything.
Working with them has been very easy compared to other companies I’ve worked with. We have a very collaborative workflow. I'm the co-founder and director of Menu Analyzer. We provide nutritional and allergen analysis of menus dishes for the catering industry in Europe.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd.?
Our website was initially developed in Drupal by someone who wasn’t very good at Drupal. We initially hired The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. to revamp it, but eventually we decided to start from scratch.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Since the Drupal backend requires a lot of intensive processes and calculations, our website was running extremely slowly. The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. rewrote the PHP code and tried multiple solutions to speed it up.
However, while their work was excellent, the site still wasn’t fit for purpose. We decided to do a ground-up redevelopment. The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. rebuilt our website using Yii, a PHP framework. They followed an agile process and finished getting everything up and running by May 2016.
In the EU, every food provider needs to supply allergen information for their products, whether it’s pre-packaged or freshly prepared. The website allows caterers to enter the ingredients for each recipe they make. We then automatically provide all nutritional and allergen information for the dish. We work with restaurants, hotels, care homes, airports, schools, and anywhere else that prepares and serves food.
The website also has functions like stock control and is open to customization. It runs on a tablet or phone as well as it does on a desktop computer. That way, chefs can enter recipe information on tablets in the kitchen—where keyboards are not allowed.
What is the team composition?
We worked with one project manager for the Drupal revamp. The new website team consisted of two project managers and two programmers. We communicated mostly with the project managers, who spoke English very well.

I put out a request on UpWork and found several vendors willing to help me repair the Drupal site. That’s how I initially got in touch with The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The website is fully functional with a robust backend. The navigation works well. The only times we’ve experienced outages are when PHP or Apache are being updated or when we’ve upgraded the software on our server.

The project manager was highly responsive. He always got back to me within the same day every time I emailed them, even if it’s just a new requirement. From a communications point of view, I have no complaints at all.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their level of responsiveness impressed me the most. As the project went on, we regularly made changes to the original specifications. The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. was flexible and patient with us. We’re overall happy with the quality of work we received for the money we spent.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We would have liked it if The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. had the website up more quickly. However, that was in part my fault because we changed our requirements quite a lot as we were going along.
Any advice for potential customers?
As with any software project, make sure your specifications cover all the bases from the beginning. Also, if I were to do this project again, I’d contact The Brihaspati Infotech Pvt. Ltd. daily instead of weekly. We had to run our business at the same time as the website was being developed, so I didn’t have the time to devote to the project that I should have.
