More Approachable Crypto-Trading
Helping over six hundred thousand (600000+) crypto-traders buy, sell, and store over 60 cryptocurrencies with a fast, simple, and secure mobile app.
The Client - One of the largest cryptocurrency broker in the European market. Their platform allows users to manage their digital assets, including BitCoin and over 60 currencies that they provide. In 2019, the company was voted the best crypto broker.
The Challenge
Together with the client’s team, we set out to develop and improve their mobile app to help crypto-traders store and manage their assets. Simultaneously improving their ReactNative made iOS app with new features and making the android app from the ground up proved to be a considerable time drain on the development team.
In the end, the client was looking for a fast, secure, and straightforward way to enable their users while expanding to the android market segments.
Overcoming the challenge
While the team worked on the ReactNative app, simultaneously, we were able to implement a fast and secure cross-platform solution using Flutter. Inside six months, a Flutter-made app for Android and iOS was developed, surpassing the initial ReactNative application. Soon all the focus was shifted to the Flutter project, resolving our challenge by hitting all the set requirements, ahead of schedule.
Benefits
BrightMarbles’ Flutter based solution allowed users to buy, sell and store Bitcoin and over 60 other cryptocurrencies offered on the crypto-trading platform, securely and effortlessly via their mobile android or iOS devices. As a result, the client significantly reduced development, maintenance, and time costs, while reaching desired market segments by focusing their mobile-focused traders.

Bandit Coffee: The future is here, coffee at a push of the button
In the new technology era, the World changes rapidly, and consumers’ needs evolve quickly. Bandit’s founders, ex early Uber employees know this, so they built their company and its service around this new generation of consumers.
Bandit is a company serving high-quality coffee and other products, per customers’ tastes, at the speed and innovation rate of a technology company. The service is simple, fast, and reliable. But the company is further carefully observing their customers’ likes and dislikes, to make their service fit their consumers like a glove.
The company makes the personalization and the speed of their service possible via their app. Customers personalize, order and pay for their items via the app, and pick up already made coffee at the nearest coffee shop, without any waiting, simple as a push of the button.
Challenge
Having a good quality product is the first half of the road to customers’ satisfaction. The other half is creating an immersive experience around obtaining the product and connecting with customers. The same as their products, Bandit’s visual identity, and the app had to be of the highest quality. The app had to be fast, intuitive, easily navigated, bugless.
The team of senior iOS and backend engineers, as well as a senior UI/UX, fit to hold the task to this standard.
Overcoming Challenge
The team started designing and developing the iOS app. With the team’s mindset that the app and the visual design of the whole brand have to be on par with the company’s superior reputation, our team together with Bandit’s core team, settled on redesigning the app and making the visual identity more consistent. The main tools used for the development of the app were Swift, Node.js, and various Web technologies.
The app is currently available on both stores, Android, and iOS, with simple UX, and the option for contactless payment integrated.
Benefit
The growing base of Bandit followers is now able to enjoy their fresh coffee cup without waiting in the line at their own convenience. We continued our work with Bandit, making further improvements, implementing new ideas, and developing new features, creating a disruptive experience for true coffee lovers.

PlayerHunter: An App that gathers the most talented footballers in one place
Intro:
In short, PlayerHunter is LinkedIn for footballers. A sports social network, for finding a club and connecting with scouts, agents, and managers. With the intuitive algorithm, an app finds optimal matches between user-profiles and potential clubs and agents.
Challenges:
As a startup company, one cannot afford to make a mistake. That’s why PlayerHunter approached BrightMarbles in need of a small, already well-coordinated team of professionals for quick and effective development of frontend side of their app that needed to go live soon.
Solution:
The main challenge our team of front-end developers faced was the dynamics of the project, and the amount of the features needed to produce under a tight time constraint, without compromising the quality of the code. The technology used during a development phase included Angular 2, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Our team’s involvement in the project lasted for about a year.
Benefits:
With the job done, PlayerHunter’s app was ready to go live, with quality solution, tested and developed according to principles of modern software development. The solution included all of the information relevant for a footballer, such as skills, and possibility to endorse them, working experience, demographics, position, height, weight, even t-shirt, and shoe size. Users could post and share photos and videos, and interact with each other via comments and direct messaging.
“When we needed a reliable, responsive and flexible partner, with a strong technical background, BrightMarbles stepped in. The attitude people working at BrightMarbles brought was refreshing, they’ve shown initiative, professionalism, and most importantly, we knew we could count on them.”Stevan Radak, Founder & CEO at Playerhunter GmbH

ArKaos - Cutting edge of entertainment video and media solutions with its powerful and flexible real-time video control platform
ArKaos, a longstanding name in the ecosystem of real-time visual processing hardware and software. They remain vigilant in the development of live video software, servers and revolutionary protocols with presence in markets and industry ranging from architectural installations, LED applications, live events, corporate and broadcast.
Challenge:
Live video processing tools are a specific and highly difficult beast to tame. This project committed both parties to further develop and innovate these complex multi-platform, robust products, with new features and product extensions with an accent on user-friendly, intuitive and flexible interface design. Scope of the intended market and users meant that products needed to be optimized for diverse specs of the hardware, ultra-stable, running with high concurrency and 100% in sync with multi-server setups.
Overcoming the challenge:
Due to prior cooperation of our team members and the company, It was decided to bolster ArKaos’ lines with BrightMarbles’ experts on C, C++, QT and Wx widget libraries, who integrated with their development team as extended members in order to tackle particularities of handling multithreading and dealing with high number of inputs and outputs, as well as difficult nature of testing graphical components and GUI.
Benefits:
Our developers collaborated closely with ArKaos’ original team of developers, as extended members, and provided the client with maintenance on existing products, implementation of new features and development of well structured, flexible products and product extensions with solid, scalable architecture and some clever design patterns. Resulting in both professionals and enthusiasts achieving maximum control of light and video, bringing to life some of the most stunning art pieces, while making it accessible to a wider user base.
“Cooperation with BrightMarbles's team has been really helpful, they integrated seamlessly into our development team and brought great value in expertise and dedication.” Marco Hinic, Founder and CEO at ArKaos SA.

Savills Inside: Boosting the business of the real estate giant with multifunctional online app
Founded more than 160 years ago; developing, growing, and pushing the boundaries of the field made Savills recognized as one of the leading real estate service providers in the world. With 600+ offices around the Globe, their expertise crosses the borders of more than 60 countries.
No matter if a client’s looking for a family home on a leafy avenue or investment opportunities overseas one of 35,000 agents in their network is ready to help.
Challenge
The client needed a solution that would integrate a large number of data regarding corporate office space; a B2B software app, with an intuitive, clean and modern UX and recognizable UI.
Due to the vast real estate data app had to organize and manage, it was crucial to develop a robust and comprehensive search and filtering options while conforming to an existing API.
Overcoming challenges
With BrightMarbles spearheading the development, and our partner Innovative Brands handling creative concept and the design side, a custom multi-level app, using React and NodeJS stacks together with Google API, was soon realized into an interactive real estate tool. Users could directly on a map see pinned office locations and all the relevant information regarding it. Using relevant filters, they could search for locations using criteria relevant to them.
Benefits
The end result of this development process is a B2B web application, modern in its design, easily navigated with a vast set of filters, bringing forth an array of benefits from a real estate industry standpoint. Large sets of data are being organized and displayed, enabling users to perform initial searches within Savills network of available properties, saving valuable time on all sides. Altho, originally developed with the city of Utrecht in mind, the application was made to be, with just a few small tweaks, expanded to scope any city in the World.
"The team from BrightMarbels was a great unmissable asset in our growth. We could quickly scale our development team up and made the crunch time shorter by adding bright minds to the team."
SIMON KOOP Co-founder and Head of Design, Innovative Brands BV, The Netherlands

NF INNOVA: A new vision of banking
Introduction
Moving forward with digital transformation increases the speed at which we, as customers live in. Everything is out there, within a reach of our hand, or a push of a button - buy, sell, put in the basket, place the order, input the payment method.
NF Innova, a part of New Frontier Group, is one of the leading companies when it comes to Digital Banking, which has set a very high bar of quality criteria, when it comes to transformation of today’s prime financial institutions, thanks to its digital banking platform and four-pillars customer engagement business model.
Challenge
With a new vision of digital banking, NF Innova set off to build a unique, omnichannel B2B app. All channels: the Internet, smartphones, tablets, contact centers, ATMs were to work together to provide the best user experience, regardless of the device used.
.NET, C#, MsSql, Android Java were the chosen technologies.
This solution was to be uniquely customized for every business client and financial institution.
When developing an app handling money transaction, the biggest challenge is security. The highest possible level of protection is a must; monitoring and following up the trends is non-negotiable.
Overcoming Challenge
BrightMarbles was involved in the development and customization of the app as an extended team. With the bigger team, holding high expertise in the field, without the need for recruitment, and therefore additional costs, the overall team was ready to tackle the problems and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
The bigger team also meant a more diverse experience, which ultimately resulted in better security, since it was easier to follow up on the trends, and exchange opinions.
Benefits
The end result was the omnichannel B2B digital banking app customized for several major financial and banking institutions seeking to level up their customer management service.
"We’ve been working with BrightMarbles for some time now. It’s noticeable they care about the job, and honestly, I keep being impressed with their expertise and dedication. It never felt like working with a “vendor”, our teams integrated seamlessly."
Vasa Šegrt
CEO, NF Innova, New Frontier Group, Austria

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the Founder and CEO of a pharmacy delivery startup based in Chicago, IL USA. We build tools for pharmacies to offer online checkout and delivery.
For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles, and what were your goals?
I hired BrightMarbles to build my MVP/ V1 product to take to potential customers. The product is a web-based consumer and B2B product.
How did you select BrightMarbles and what were the deciding factors?
BrightMarbles stood out from the other firms I was speaking with. The founders were very involved in the business and very clearly understood my needs.
As a non-technical founder, it was important to me that the firm I was working with simplified lines communication and played the role of CTO.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The MVP was a web-based consumer and B2B product. The key deliverables were building web-based login and check-out workflows and a B2B admin product and dashboard.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Three BrightMarbles team members worked with me, the two founders, and a fantastic developer.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The product BrightMarbles built was responsible for me landing a key initial partnership and also was highly leveraged for securing initial advisors and investors.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We used Slack and Zoom meetings to meet and coordinate progress and questions.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The team's ability to foresee my needs and execute on the plan we developed together with little additional involvement from me is second to none.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing - BrightMarbles is great!

Please describe your company and your position there.
Spaze was founded during the beginning of the Dutch Covid-19 crisis by eight entrepreneurs. As a digital designer I was responsible for UX/UI for this project and worked closely with Bright Marbles to streamline the experience.
For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles?
Because time was a key factor in the realization of this project, we were looking for a cost-friendly IT company that could build the app in a matter of weeks. Bright Marbles ticked both boxes.
What were your goals for this project?
Spaze uses QR to monitor the amount of people inside a venue and uses that data to prevent people from forming a queue outside by warning them that it's busy and by forming a virtual queue instead. Because this solution is almost entirely Covid-19 related it was important that we could publish and promote the application as soon as possible.
How did you select BrightMarbles?
I personally asked around for IT companies that fit our needs. Eventually I stumbled upon a Dutch design company through Facebook that worked with Bright Marbles on a regular basis. After a few virtual meetings we realized that we found the right fit.
Describe the project in detail.
We started off the project with a few sparring sessions. I was responsible for all design so I created a high fidelity prototype. We agreed on building a demo version first so we could start doing sales as soon as possible. Once they got their hands on the designs they immediately started building the demo. While we contacted retail companies they continued building the mobile application and the desktop dashboard. We had weekly meetings where they would show their progress and we would provide feedback. The work they should was clear and of great quality.
What was the team composition?
The team consisted of a project manager, a flutter developer, a backend developer and a frontend developer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
It's hard to demonstrate success thus far as it's a two sided marketplace and we're yet to sign our first client but as far as I'm concerned they delivered on all three key aspects: quality, speed and cost efficiency. A variety of businesses responded with great enthusiasm while trying the dashboard & mobile app.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The project manager was a great communicator, was always open to a discussion and guided us through the process really well.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Probably the dedication to the project. They have shown great passion and were keen to give quality input from start to end. On top of that, they live up to their promise and worked extremely hard to get things done within the given timeframe.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Evidently there have been slight miscommunications throughout the process but nothing worth mentioning. Mostly they were caused by language barriers (we communicated in English).

Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a software development company based in Serbia. We have a 200-developer team, and we’ve been the fastest-growing company in Serbia for years, and one of the most desirable ones for employees. Our clients are mostly in Western Europe.
What challenge were you trying to address with BrightMarbles?
We need help with our projects from time to time, for which we engage with companies like BrightMarbles.
What was the scope of their involvement?
BrightMarbles has done both complete projects on their own, as a white-label team, and they’ve worked as an extension to our team. They mainly provide software development, but they’ve also offered project and product management services. The main technologies involved are Java, .NET, and JavaScript, but they’ve also worked with Flutter and React Native.
We work with them when we have a peak in demand and need additional resources, or when we require skillsets that we don’t have in-house.
What is the team composition?
If we need them as an extension for our team, we’ll usually only get developers from BrightMarbles. If we give them a complete project, they will form a team consisting of project managers and other roles as well.
How did you come to work with BrightMarbles?
We knew their founders since before they were part of BrightMarbles, and we knew how skilled and hardworking they were. We gave them a chance, and it went great. The other people in BrightMarbles have similar work ethics.
How much have you invested with them?
The overall cost of their work so far is around €400,000 (approximately $475,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with BrightMarbles in early 2017 and are continuing to partner together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
When working with BrightMarbles, we don’t have to worry at all that the job won’t be done on time, that the quality will be lower than what our internal people would deliver, or that there would be confusion on their end on who’s doing what and who’s covering the cost.
We can fully trust them, and we know that they can complete the work just as if they were our internal team. They see our partnership not as a one-time deal but as something continuous.
How did BrightMarbles perform from a project management standpoint?
Everything goes smoothly when we work with them. We use a number of project tracking tools based on what the client is demanding, including Jira and Basecamp. BrightMarbles is flexible to using any tool.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re able to hire great engineers and keep them for long periods of time. This makes us feel comfortable because we know that we’ll get great engineers for our projects and that the people we’ve worked with won’t leave after we’ve invested time and money onboarding them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing they could’ve improved in terms of the actual work, but it would be great if they had even more people. There have been times when there was more work than our team and theirs could handle. I don’t see this as a negative, given that BrightMarbles is investing in growth.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
One thing that works great for us is building a level of trust. If we give BrightMarbles our full trust, they will put the right people on the right projects. We wouldn’t insist on having the person with the most years of experience on a project, because we know that a mid-level developer can sometimes be better at specific technologies and deliver better results.
We don’t insist on having every single detail as we’d imagine it in best-case scenarios. We give BrightMarbles a lot of freedom to suggest the best solution for us, both when it comes to setting up the team or proposing technologies.
I’d suggest that clients start with a smaller assignment and earn BrightMarbles’ trust, then go with a full-trust approach.

Bandit Coffee is a company bringing innovation to the way we enjoy our beverage. With the mindset of a technology company, Bandit developed an app that helps its consumers personalize, order, and pay for high-quality coffee and other products. This cuts out waiting in line and offers fast service; customers simply collect their coffee in Bandit's nearest coffee shop. Jeff H. Founding Engineer at Bandit
For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles?
We hired a team from BrightMarbles to help us develop the Bandit Coffee app, together with superior visual identity and flawless user experience. Since we are a technology company and given that it is the heart of our business, the app had to be fast, intuitive, easily navigated, bugless. On the other hand, the whole brand's visual design has to be on par with its superior reputation.
What were your goals for this project?
As stated in the answer above, we wanted everything to be impeccable and in the highest quality, from our app, and its user experience, to the whole visual identity of the brand.
How did you select this vendor?
Through Digital Knights, an elite software engineering network. We wanted a reliable partner.
Describe the project in detail.
We want our company to disrupt the coffee market. We want a new, improved, digitalized experience for true coffee lovers. We want our service to be personalized for every customer and delivered in no time. Our go-to way to achieve this is an app.
Splendid user experience, basic filtering, and sorting options, the possibility to personalize the product and the order, and contactless payment were required. The other part of the project was to help us elevate our general visual identity and make it more consistent.
What was the team composition?
Senior iOS developer, senior backend developer, and senior UI/UX designer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are more than happy with both the results of their work and the quality of their written code. We’re still working with BrightMarbles, satisfied with the team and their initiative. In the future, we’re planning to scale up the current team.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Our workflow has been effective. As a client, at the start of our collaboration, we had the possibility to see our team’s CVs and portfolios and we had a word when our team was formed. Our day-to-day communication with a team is productive. We hold daily meetings and by-weekly release cycles.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
BrightMarbles has a skilled team. Guys are very expert and knowledgeable about the technology we use on the project and best practices. Next to the fact that they are quite strong in both UI/UX and coding, they have also become critical advisors in helping us make the best decisions related to architecture, development process, plan, etc.
Guys in our team and the management members we communicated with are real professionals.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No. We’re satisfied with everything.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of an IT outsourcing company in Serbia. We provide IT services to our clients. A majority of our clients are based in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the UK.
What challenge were you trying to address with BrightMarbles?
We were looking to hire developers for staff augmentation.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Their developers extended our own team. They developed a software solution for a client in Switzerland.
We were looking for developers with Java experience. The most important thing for us was that the developers had great technical skills, but we also wanted developers who are engaged and proactive because we didn’t know all the answers.
We wanted developers who are ready to propose solutions and discuss various things together with us, and not just execute what we told them to do.
What is the team composition?
We worked with four people from BrightMarbles.
How did you come to work with BrightMarbles?
They were recommended to us by an associate.
How much have you invested with them?
It was around $70,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted six months, and we started working with them in May 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The solution we built for our client, together with BrightMarbles, is now used in major banks in Switzerland for tracking their IT equipment. They have their own data centers, and they had a lot of equipment, but they didn’t have a good management system for all that equipment. The client was very happy.
How did BrightMarbles perform from a project management standpoint?
We were so happy with the project. We had a milestone every couple of weeks.
What did you find most impressive about them?
With two of the milestones, we literally had to work day and night, including weekends, to accomplish the milestone and deliver this on time. It was because of last-minute changes on the client-side, so things got a little more complicated, but it was important that we still delivered everything on time.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They are doing great, and I wouldn’t know what to add. We are going to work on some projects in the future.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be completely transparent about what you’re looking for. Speak with their CEO. He’s a very nice guy. He’s also very transparent about what they can and cannot do. If you start with an honest conversation, you’ll get the most out of it.

For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles?
We hired two front-end senior developers from BrightMarbles to augment our development team of the corporate self-service portal for one of the leading energy companies in Europe.
What were your goals for this project?
The project's goal was to achieve a consistent user experience throughout the whole web ecosystem in response to the management and developmental challenges (different content management systems, expensive upgrade of current eShop, cooperation with vendors, etc.)
How did you select this vendor?
We have outstanding and long term collaboration with them and this is just one of many projects where BrightMarbles has been our development partner.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
As stated before, the project's goal was to develop and redesign the corporate self-service portal or moreover deliver a new Digital Experience Platform.
What was the team composition?
The team is: Project Manager, Solution Architect/Development Lead, Development and Testing team. BrightMarbles provided two engineers for the development team.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
The developed solution produced positive outcomes for the client, which was evident when comparing results to the predetermined KPIs.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
For communication, we used different tools, such as Jira, Slack, Skype, etc. And as it is the case with most of our projects, this one also uses Scrum as a development process, so we had daily stand-up meetings and used a three-week sprint cycle.
The team members talked about the status on a daily and weekly basis and adjusted the development process accordingly. BrightMarbles's developers acted, and were treated as other team members, and were held accountable for the tasks they did.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We were pleased with BrightMarbles in general and would collaborate with them again. They were approachable, willing to make changes, and responsive.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Nothing comes to mind at this point.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Marble It is an outsourcing company from Novi Sad, Serbia, which helps clients from multiple European/American countries create bespoke software solutions and achieve shorter T2M. I am currently a CTO & Partner at our company.
For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles?
We outsourced the API part of the Saleslide system to Brightmarbles, which was basically a proxy API between multiple third-party services. Deadline was short and we didn't have enough people on our side, so we hired them to help us build all layers of the API (data, business, api).
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal was to achieve the MVP features (both client and API) in 10 weeks, to meet the client's deadline.
How did you select this vendor?
They are known in Novi Sad as one of the top expert companies for that section of software engineering, so we wanted to hire professionals to help us.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Project was a web app + multi-platform game for connecting retailers and consumers of different brands that wanted to advertise through the game part of the app. Customers collected points through the game, which they could later use through discounts in different stores.
We developed the Vue client side part of the Web app (dashboard, profile, stores etc.) and Brightmarbles arranged the underlying endpoints in .NET (controllers, services and the data layer)
What was the team composition?
Brightmarbles arranged 2 API devs and we arranged 2 frontend developers. I was the tech lead on the project and client arranged a PO.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Since we were a smaller company at the time, it was difficult for us to follow the tempo of some of our clients. Brightmarbles helped us keep the client, which led to new business opportunities and further development of our network.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
In this case, client arranged a PO which was in charge for the management.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The smoothness of their inclusion on the project. Usually there is a period when new people need to adapt to the project, but their guys took the deadline seriously and we managed to finish some of the features in the first days of our cooperation.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The process went smoothly until the end, so I don't think that there are many areas that we could have improved. It would be even easier if we had a team in-house, but isn't something that we are going to require from our vendor.

I'm the CPTO of a cryptocurrency platform. We office more than 50 different cryptocurrencies. Our company is expanding in Europe. At the moment we serve 600k users a fast and secure way to buy or sell their digital assets.
For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles?
We hired BrightMarbles to help us develop our iOS and Android mobile app, in order to help our crypto-traders store and manage their assets.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goal is to expand to the mobile market segment by developing iOS and an android app that enables our users - safe, easy, and fast trading.
How did you select this vendor?
After auditing a considerable number of potential partners we decided that BrightMarbles is the best choice for us.
Describe the project in detail.
Together with the BrightMarbles’ team, we set out to develop and improve our mobile app that helps crypto-traders buy, sell, and trade. Because of that, it simultaneously improved our ReactNative made iOS app that has new features.
Meanwhile, the android app was made from the ground up using Flutter. We liked the capabilities of Flutter, giving us native performance with a single code base, so we decided to apply this benefit to replace our existing iOS app.
What was the team composition?
We started with 3 senior mobile developers for our ReactNative app, then the team grew when we started the Flutter development project and grew to a total of six developers, QA/Scrum master, and a senior UI/UX designer.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
BrightMarbles’ Flutter based solution significantly reduced development, maintenance, and time costs, with a cross-platform approach, giving us native app performances while keeping a single code base, allowing our users to buy, sell securely and effortlessly via their mobile device

Please describe your company and your position there.
Comtrade Digital Services is accelerating software technology innovation and providing strategic software engineering services.
We help companies across different industries reinvent their business models using innovative technology so they can successfully address business challenges, embrace digital transformation and become industry leaders in their domains.
I am in charge of the Comtrade's Smart energy program which includes all projects related to energy and utilities. Our clients are some of the world leaders in this industry.
For what projects/services did your company hire BrightMarbles?
We hired a few developers from BrightMarbles to reinforce our already existing development team to work on the backend services and integration layer.
What were your goals for this project?
Market Transaction System is a complex B2B hub that manages the market transactions and the flow of meter data between the national electricity authority, electricity retailers, metering service providers, meter data managers and the utilities’ own enterprise systems.
Due to legislature changes that affected the way the electricity market functions, the system had to be substantially adapted to support the new business model.
How did you select this vendor?
We work with BrightMarbles through our Resource Management office and have established a long and firm relationship over the years.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
BrightMarbles resources worked on some of the backend services and the data access layer of the system using mostly .NET and PL.SQL. A lot of the business logic was implemented directly on the database itself in form of stored procedures to speed up the processing.
The project started with a workshop where our architect brought BrightMarbles resources up to speed with the architecture of the solution, requirements, etc. and then the work continued in 2-week sprints.
What was the team composition?
The entire development team on our side was 11 people (mostly developers and QA engineers) and BrighMarbles supplied 3 developers/testers that were seamlessly integrated into our project team. On the client's side, there were 6 fully functional teams working on other aspects of the entire system.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
The solution is not used in our organization and we developed it for an external client. Successful completion of the project enabled us to reinforce our already good relationship with our client and make it even stronger and we continue working on the project to this day.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Project management was handled by Comtrade and by the client. There were 5-7 fully functional teams working on the project around the globe (our team being one of those). We held scrum meetings every day and then the scrum master attended the scrum of scrum meetings to coordinate the work with other scrum teams.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They were very quick to turnaround and respond to our request, and their resources were extremely motivated, responsive, and willing to learn and contribute.
They were very flexible with their worktime, often working overtime if needed to ensure the delivery was on time and to accomodate meetings with other teams working in different timezones.
Are there any areas for improvement?
none I can think of
The MVP proved to be useful in landing a key internal partnership for the startup. It was also instrumental in securing initial investments. The BrightMarbles team understands the company's needs and executes the plan with little to no intervention from the client.
