I asked peers for digital marketing agency recommendations. Brick Social came highly recommended by a number of people and we agreed to work with their team based on their experience.

From the ground up, Brick Social helped us plan, strategise and implement an effective Facebook ad strategy that helped us achieve our goals. They have also helped a number of our e-commerce clients grow their businesses through digital marketing.

They exceeded our expectations from a communication and deliverability point of view. They felt part of our team and helped us smash our new business goals.

Seamless. All comms were done through Slack and we met weekly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They work with some serious brands, yet they still make a small brand like mine feel as though we are receiving their full attention. Their service offering doesn’t just stop at paid social. They do everything they can to help their clients smash their goals.

I’m the head of growth at IntoConcrete. We’re an e-commerce site that specializes in selling concrete items for peoples’ everyday lives, from home decor to accessories. We have watches with concrete dials, toilet brushes with concrete holders, and desk clocks made out of concrete.

We’d been growing rapidly since 2020 and needed external help to continue enhancing our revenue through digital advertising. Our main goals were increased performance and stability.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our target channels were Facebook and Instagram ads. Brick Social took over those, as well as performed a bit of Google Ads work.

We worked with two resources: Toby (Managing Director & Brand Manager) and Tony (CMO & Ads Manager) 

How did you come to work with Brick Social? 

I found out about them from a cold email. Toby reached out to me while I was looking for an outsourced vendor, and we clicked right away. I could tell that he was very personable. Additionally, we wanted to work with a tight team of people, and it can’t be tighter than a team of two people who really love what they do. From their first email, it felt like they were part of our team, mentioning our products and showing that they took their time to research us. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent a little less than $10,000 with them, not including our ad spend. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from April–June 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We look at our return on ad spend (ROAS). Before working with Brick Social, we saw a lot of fluctuation in this metric and they’ve brought stability to our performance. Toby and Tony were personally running our account; the founder was in the weeds running the ads. 

How did Brick Social perform from a project management standpoint?

This is one of my favorite parts of working with them. We communicated mostly on Slack. Most large agencies will have a bi-weekly cadence and a large month-end report, but that doesn’t work for startups, in my opinion. I enjoy that they’re fully integrated with us and that we can reach out to them on Slack at any time. They’re very responsive, which is comforting. This type of collaboration isn’t very common. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

This goes back to them being a small team. They were genuinely passionate about what they were doing. For a small business, it’s critical to hand over a piece of your work to an outside vendor. With large agencies, it’s difficult to tell if they’re putting time into your account and what type of resource is working on it. The best part of Brick Social is that you know who you’re working with and who’s running the ads. Additionally, they’re constantly communicating with you. They’re an extension of our team. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since they’re a small team, they don’t have in-house creatives to produce content. This is a consequence of them being just Toby and Tony at the moment. This isn’t a criticism, but a point to keep in mind. They produced some for us and worked with us to deliver recommendations on what we could make in-house, but it also would help to have a dedicated creative. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re very good communicators, so be sure to communicate well. Toby and Tony are passionate and want to learn about their clients, so give enough information for them to do their jobs well.

They reached out to us to offer their services. It was perfect timing for what we wanted to do, so I talked to them to understand their business model. Everything blended perfectly with what we wanted to accomplish, so we ended up going with them.

We started working together in October 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been doing a great job putting our ads together on the Facebook platform. They’re testing and optimizing our ads, and that’s been delivering great conversion to sales results. They gather interested people on what we offer and drive them to our website or to one of the many online shopping platforms that we’re in — I’m happy with the results.

How did Brick Social perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re based overseas, and they’ve been accessible even with the six-hour time difference. We’ve been doing emails and video chats whenever we’re both available.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Toby has done a great job understanding our business and our business model; he’s been able to translate that into accomplishing our goals in terms of social media marketing. Their team can take directions perfectly and execute them.

Brick Social are good at what they do and understand the market and their client’s needs well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — I’ve had a positive experience with them throughout the engagement.

I was recommended Brick by a friend who had worked with their team. The recommendation via a trusted source in conjunction with their teams track record made the decision a no brainer.

First, Brick immersed themselves into my brand, learning everything they could about my customers, competitors and products. They then developed a strategy that made sense and shared their learnings with me throughout the process. Once implemented, comms was held thorough Slack, and Brick they used a software called Triple Whale which is a dashboard allowing you to see the most important metrics to me in real time.

I could have hoped for better results. The Brick team were an absolutely joy to work with. They genuinely cared about the project, and they fully invested themselves into reaching my goals. Brick exceeded my initial sales and revenue targets and developed a strategy that enabled me to continue growing this area of my business.

Seamless. They integrated into Slack and reports were sent regularly

Their efficiency in getting things done, and transparency... if anything happened such as a performance dip, they would tell me, give me a reason why and tell me what they plan to do about it. I fully trusted that they were doing everything they could.
