Be on the tips of all the right tongues

Telling stories about food since 2011

We started Branding & Buzzing with a belief that social media would change eating, cooking and dining out. We were right. Today, when North America’s best food and bev brands want to own a moment, spread the word or launch a product, they knock on our door. These days, we greet them with a smile and a Jarritos.

Our strength has always been our reach. We worked in the food space for years, and our peers at the time are now the country’s top chefs, mixologists and restauranteurs. We use our clients’ products to make their menus better. They use their menus to showcase our clients’ products, and we all eat very well.

Our clients are some of the most well-known names in food and foodservice. You’ve heard of them because that’s our job. And we do it well. Let’s talk about what we can do for you.

Jarritos Image

Jarritos

BACKGROUND

Jarritos is a well-known Mexican soft drink. In 2017, they chose us as their inaugural Agency of Record in Canada.

We came back to them with a full to-market strategy that included content creation and curation, influencer marketing, social media advertising and engagement tactics.

WHAT WE DID

We assumed full responsibility of the Jarritos brand in

Canada, which included:

1. Original photography and recipe creation for their website and social feeds

2. An influencer marketing program complete with sample product and clear instructions
on what, when and how to promote the brand

3. A bartender/mixologist program that led to a bevy of new cocktails featuring Jarritos

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT

Jarritos has become THE Mexican soda in Canada: the “Behind The Bar” FOH program has become super popular with bartenders, mixologists and patrons, and our influencers have had a ton of fun with the brand, producing some of the best photographs we have.

McCormick For Chefs Image

McCormick For Chefs

BACKGROUND

Foodservice is 40% of McCormick’s business so what chefs think of them is important.

Every year, McCormick reaches out to top chefs with trends and ingredients, then encourages those chefs to create custom recipes using the brand’s signature spices/seasonings, offer up tips to other chefs and star in sharable, valuable content.

WHAT WE DID

We expanded

the McCormick for Chefs program and grew McCormick’s influence across the foodservice space.

1. Brought new chefs into the fold.

2. Encouraged them to participate.

3. Socialized and shared the content they created.

We also spearheaded the digital marketing effort, which included content creation for organic stories, Facebook and Instagram ads and conversation engineering so chefs could get in touch and learn more.

Canola Eat Well Image

Canola Eat Well

BACKGROUND

In 2014, Canola Eat Well asked us to help them raise their profile with Industry Experts, Food Influencers and Instagrammers, Registered Dietitians, Mommy Bloggers, Media and Chefs – and give them all a story to tell about Canola oil and the farmers who make it.

WHAT WE DID

We created a repeatable event structure, loose enough to adjust for theme but tight

enough to add value every time.

1. We pick a theme, an activity and Canola-based plates to feature.

2. Line up the right guests, chefs and hosts for the event.

3. Manage the logistics from location to staff to guest services.

4. Track results and learnings.

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT

The Canola Eat Well Series is still going strong. We run multiple programs over the course of a year, we regularly introduce new themes and we get interest from new chefs and influencers every time.

The recipes created at the workshops are amazing, as is the content we capture. And getting the full Canola story (including where it’s made and who’s making it) is always well-received and appreciated by everybody.

Branding & Buzzing exceeds expectations, delivering a quality service. Results from the partnership have been positive. Their communication is a noteworthy aspect of the engagement. Their team is skilled in their field, executing their clients’ goals to the best of their ability.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the marketing specialist at Gray Ridge Eggs, a company that sells many brands of eggs that consumers can find at their regular grocery store.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Branding & Buzzing?

We hired Branding & Buzzing to promote and build a social presence for one of our local specialty egg brands.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Branding & Buzzing essentially built our social media communities on Facebook and Instagram. Their team helped identify which platforms made the most sense for our business, considering the consumer we were trying to reach. Working together, they implemented our strategy for building and growing those communities.

As an aspect of that, their team also organized influencer events where we would invite influencers that were relevant to our target audience. We gave them the assets to create our social media content, which they created and posted after receiving our approval. Branding & Buzzing was responsible for amplifying our messages on social media and dealing with the customer support aspect.

What is the team composition?

We have one account manager that is supported by their team.

How did you come to work with Branding & Buzzing?

At the Restaurants Canada show, one of their owners was part of a panel discussion. I was introduced to him by a mutual associate. After interviewing them and other companies, we decided that Branding & Buzzing was the best fit for our brand.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with Branding & Buzzing began in March 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re happy with what Branding & Buzzing built for us. It’s a new process, so we’re learning as we go. Overall, we used the first year as a test and are pleased with the results and lessons we received. As we move into the second year, we hope to continue that progress.

Our team monitored specific measures to see whether the programs were successful or not. Within building a social media community, we looked at community size, rate of community growth, engagement, and if the content matched our brand message. Those four pieces of criteria were important to us.

How did Branding & Buzzing perform from a project management standpoint?

We are satisfied with their project management services. Since the beginning, there’s been excellent communication. We made sure that both sides were aligned with the strategy, objectives, how we’re going to measure, and what we’re trying to achieve to determine success.

Branding & Buzzing comes to the table with fantastic ideas to achieve stellar results. In terms of execution, communication, and assessment, I have zero complaints. We have a great working relationship.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The key thing is that we’re working in the food industry. The team at Branding & Buzzing specializes and works with a majority of clients within the food and foodservice industries. That level of expertise is crucial to us when it comes to finding suitable influencers for activities. That’s what sets them apart.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we’re happy. Our teams stick and learn together. Fortunately, we haven’t had any mistakes. They had been lessons learned. I have nothing negative to say. Their team brings their expertise, and I provide our brand expertise. Throughout that, we work together to develop programs and achieve our goals.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Effective communication is key. It’s fortunate that Branding & Buzzing is full of clear and timely communicators. They listen to what we’re trying to achieve as a brand and bring the right solutions. We trust them to deliver solutions that meet our objectives.
