They told me everything I wanted to hear to get my bid, but didn't adhere to our contract. They refused to deliver two major tasks, saying that it was too much work and that they needed more money.

What was the team composition?

I don't know what the team looked like. They promised four people, but only two worked on the project.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

This is the worst software company I've worked with. Their promised timelines never materialized. They said my project would take 45 days, but only delivered half the website. They also didn't test the product before handing it over. I found a lot of bugs, which they refused to fix unless I paid more. They promised to provide support for three months after completing the project, but refused to do so.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The process was absolutely terrible. They switched developers and project managers six times and didn't communicate with each other, so I constantly repeated the same information. This may have been because of the language barrier. 

I created a Google Doc to clarify my expectations, but they didn't follow through. No one took ownership of my expectations, even though I documented everything for them. Plus, their CEO never returned my emails or phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I wasn't impressed by anything. The staff was disgruntled because they weren't paid on time, and that affected their work. I lost time, money, and a lot of business opportunities because of their inability to fulfill their promises. All they cared about was money.

Are there any areas for improvement?

They should improve their honesty, integrity, and ethics. Their scheduling, communication, and knowledge were also lacking.

We are a ridesharing service located in Atlanta, Georgia. I am one of the directors of the company, and we currently have four employees. We are within the development stage.

What challenge were you trying to address with BR Softech?

We were looking for a developer, putting finance into consideration. We couldn’t find something within our budget in the United States and had to reach out across the globe. BR Softech was able to meet our needs. We had tried working with a company in the past, around 18 months ago, but couldn’t get anywhere because we had issues with communication; they were not transparent and kept coming up with hidden charges.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BR Softech developed our app for iOS and Android. Some of the key features included integrating calling into the app between drivers and clients, and the ability for riders to share their location with a friend as soon as they are picked up. We will be launching the app in Africa, and wanted to have some unique functionalities.

We gave BR Softech a blueprint of what we wanted, and they gave us a sketch of the procedure, which was going to be an organic development. We made adjustments with what we needed, got back to them, and everything kicked off. The development was divided into 5 phases, including a first review. For each phase, as soon as we approved, we had to make a payment.

How did you come to work with BR Softech?

I have a bit of IT knowledge and did a lot of research online. I had worked with another developer, who was a disappointment. I was able to get in touch with BR Softech - we had to find the right moment to speak, because of the time difference. I was mostly concerned about maintaining my budget, but as soon as we settled on the budget, we were able to work with BR Softech.

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent around $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with BR Softech in February 2016. We have launched the iOS app, but we are on hold with the Android version because Google requested that we provide a trademark for our company. This will be done sometime next week, and then we will be fully operational. The app will be launched in Africa, our target market, and we have a local trademark. The US version will take about three months to come out. BR Softech is currently waiting for us to take care of the trademark so that they can do the last publishing on Android. We will continue to stay in touch.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have done internal tests on the app and it is running smoothly. We have also tried the app in Europe and Africa, and it’s working smoothly. I am impressed with the work BR Softech did for the price, compared to what we were getting in the US. Apart from one or two changes, the app is working perfectly, and the communication has been tremendous.

How did BR Softech perform from a project management standpoint?

I was able to give them tasks before going to bed, and, by the time I woke up, I would get a response. We communicated before BR Softech shut down for the day. We have not set up any project management tools; I call them directly on the phone or use WhatsApp and Skype for video conferences.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I found BR Softech to be patient, considering the fact that we have a time difference and language barriers. I can send them emails, and, when need be, we will have video calls and discuss specific questions on the process and what I want. We communicate freely and effectively. There were times when we had drawbacks from our end, and there were delays which took us a month to settle. The project was astray because of our own timing and availability. Overall, BR Softech was effective and patient and delivered exactly what I wanted.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have been satisfied with every aspect. I can’t find them lacking in any way. There is room for improvement with any business, but, compared to my previous experience, BR Softech was more effective.

We came to them with a high-level scope of work which outlined the various features that we wanted to implement and defined the core features and site layout. From that document, we enlisted them to create a design document and a bid for the project.

BR Softech completed all of the backend development and front end design of the site. They developed a robust backend console management system so we could manage multiple vendors with multiple transactions and be able to, in a turnkey fashion, measure their performance and pay them in a timely manner.

I have interacted with approximately four member of their team - two producers, one business manager, and one lead developer.

I found them online doing a search for development teams in India. We looked at about five providers across Eastern Europe and Asia.

We started working together in November 2016, and we are continuing to engage them for additional projects.

We just finished the site and haven't started marketing yet. BR Softech delivered a finished website that functions well. If we have any issues with the site, they address them immediately.

How did BR Softech perform from a project management standpoint?

They used their internal system and we used ours. We had an online system that we used to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their professionalism is certainly welcomed. They did a good job, but I can’t think of anything unique.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everybody could always improve, but there is nothing catastrophic. The ultimate measure of how I feel about a company is whether I do another project with them, and I have engaged BR Softech for another project.

We are a taxi dispatch company. We provide dispatch services to independent owner-operators through our app. Drivers can also call our office to get dispatches, but all the dispatches go through our app.

We were introducing a new model, so we wanted an app for both Android and iOS as well as a website. We contacted BR Softech to do this work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They have designed the whole software for our application and the backend. We had back and forth discussions to tailor the process to our business needs. BR did the whole thing, from designing to developing and testing. They are helping us in the app’s launch and uploading to the app stores.

We worked with two developers—one each for Android and iOS—one project manager, and two backend developers. They provided developers who followed my plans for the app, so I didn’t have to think about getting anyone else. The initial team they assigned to our project was good.

How did you come to work with BR Softech?

I was browsing online, and I found several companies. I interviewed them, and BR seemed genuine and able to do the work. Their prior work was very good, and it showed they had done similar work. The people presenting their work were clear enough that I understood what they had done. They did some prototyping for us, which looked good. I gave them a shot.

How much have you invested with BR Softech?

The first phase of the project is going to cost us $3,200. There may be additional fees in the second phase.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together at the end of January or beginning of February 2017, and our relationship is ongoing. The work is done, and the app is live in the Apple Store. The Android version is still pending with Google’s review. We still have the last step to do, which is the source code delivery. That will happen after everything is live. We won’t close the project until the app is live on Google Play.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We only got the Apple app live last week, so we don’t yet have data. We still have to explore the downloads and get feedback from the users. We’ve gotten one 5-star review, but we haven’t seen any numbers yet.

How did BR Softech perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was good. I thought there may be an issue with the time zone difference, but they worked in two or three shifts so that I always had someone to take care of my questions. The project manager was very responsive to my questions. We commonly used Skype, and we talked over the phone sometimes. They had a ticketing system, but I didn’t have to use that. It was mostly email or Skype. Their delivery was on time.

What did you find most impressive about BR Softech?

With other development agencies, I always had the feeling that they would take the money and not do the work. BR convinced me, with their work and their commitment. We worked with milestone payments, which was very convenient. That made me comfortable that I was in the right hands.

Are there any areas BR Softech could improve?

So far, I think they were good and on time. Everyone can always improve, but they’re good.

I’m the founder and owner of Raven, which isn’t live yet. It’s a tutoring platform that connects teachers and students and offers its own payment system and video call system.

We started building the solution ourselves, but my team couldn’t overcome some technical obstacles relating to the video call and the payment system.

Our mission is to enhance learning processes and the development of education programs through information technology, so we thought it best to find another company to develop our apps.

I dealt with Shruti, our project manager, and she would delegate to the other members of her team. The folks from BR Softech implemented the video call and payment system for our web app, as well as a few other tweaks around sign-up and maneuvering around the site.

We looked on Freelancer.com. We considered three or four companies for the job, but we chose BR Softech because of their reviews. There were a good number of solid, reputable reviews. We also needed a company that could work in Ruby on Rails, and on Freelancer.com, their title included that they did Rails applications. That was also a big determining factor; they seemed to be the most promising for fulfilling our need from both the technical and business angle. They’ve provided web development and design, from the ground up.

We’ve probably spent about $4,000 to $5,000.

We started working together in October of 2016, so it’s been about five months now.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The solution isn’t live yet, but they’ve been quite responsive. Not quite as responsive as I would like, but they’re dealing with a lot of different projects. Communication has been very good, though. I would ask for what I wanted and usually received exactly that. It’s been a dream come true when it comes to product quality, and the price is reasonable as well.

How did BR Softech perform from a project management standpoint?

We usually communicate through email, but we also use BitBucket, where they upload the code. I can see it there and monitor their project. My own team then inspects the code to make sure it’s viable. Sometimes, there will be an error for some reason, and we’ll talk to them about it and they’ll fix it pretty quickly.

What did you find most impressive about BR Softech?

BR Softech is very flexible. Our project manager is excellent, always available, very organized, very transparent, and reactive. They always find time to look into new things for us and complete my work on the given timeline.

Are there any areas BR Softech could improve?

They’re very nonchalant. I’ll say what I want and they’ll do it, but I really expected more questions or something. I accept that, but it’s a less involved process than I would like. The result is still good, though. I’d just like them to reach out more and make creative recommendations, but that would be going above and beyond the call of duty.

The application allows users to submit their own meals, which can be ordered by others in the same city, for home delivery. The app acts as an intermediary between cooks and their clients.

BR Softech assigned 10 resources for my project, including developers and quality assurance testers. I wasn't very concerned with how many people were assigned to my team, so resource allocation was handled internally by them. I had one to two points of contact from BR Softech's side.

It was important to find a partner who could work within my budget. I have experience in the IT field, but I don't have iOS or Android expertise, so I needed external help. I researched a few outsourcing companies online and contacted BR Softech.

We are still working on popularizing the app, but I'm confident that it will kick-off soon. BR Softech has helped us throughout the whole development. They have provided the feature-rich app that we wanted at a very cost-effective price. They are also very punctual.

The process was very smooth. Since I have worked in the software industry, I am familiar with the difficulties faced by clients, but my own collaboration with BR Softech was better than average. I had complete visibility of what BR Softech's team was doing. They never missed a deadline, and I was given deliverables periodically for testing. We used JIRA for project tracking.

They are very cooperative and communicative at every step of development. BR Softech understood all our requirements properly and was available whenever I needed to contact them, making sure that there would be someone to answer my queries and fix any bugs quickly. I haven't seen this with other vendors. BR Softech was willing to accommodate last minute changes and accomplished everything I wanted. I didn't expect BR Softech's team to refine my idea, but they ultimately did that as well.
