Introduce your business and what you do there.

My organization is a software company that provides HR solutions to international businesses.

What challenge were you trying to address with BPO Technology?

The company that we were working with wanted an HR solution in a particular area, and when we examined those markets, the existing systems either had no flexibility or were extremely highly-priced. We decided to partner with BPO Technology in order to develop our own HR solution to the problem.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The project was a combination of development work and project management that they provided. They were in charge of defining the timing and phasing of the projects and organizing the agile meetings and sprint reviews, as well as working with us to develop the solution itself.

What is the team composition?

The team from BPO Technology consisted of about six people in total. One was a managing consultant who was extremely well versed in data and relational data model design, and the rest of whom were functional experts on the code.

How did you come to work with BPO Technology?

We looked at a few different options for the engagement, but the expertise exhibited by their team really stood out to us from the beginning of the process.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent a little over €200,000 (approximately $221,600 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2017 and are continuing to develop the product.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve gotten a lot of feedback through our user-testing cycles and the development process internally, and it has overall been very positive. They do a really good job of being flexible and receptive to adjustments that come out of our internal reviews.

We agreed on a kind of ‘money for nothing, change for free’ type of contract from the beginning, because we knew that during the development of the solution, we would find out that certain things could have been done better or differently and that the specifics would take shape as we progressed through the project.

How did BPO Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

I reached out to them via email, phone, and any other sort of media you can think of, and they were always very responsive. We had a bi-weekly formal cycle where I would run user acceptance testing of what we had done, and we would basically look forward to the next and backward to the open items of the current sprint to evaluate where we were. There was always a lot of open communication flowing back and forth.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think the fact that they gave a physical presence in pretty much every time zone in order to be able to respond immediately, 24/7, demonstrates their dedication to providing excellent customer service.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was some stakeholder management that they could have improved on. We connected their team directly to our client as well, and occasionally messages would get lost between teams because of that, but for the most part it didn’t cause any major issues.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Leave them space to recommend solutions of their own. From a technical perspective, they have much more knowledge than we could ever acquire about specific aspects of development. Because of that, what we found worked best for us was to give them a more general concept about what you have in mind and then give them the creative freedom to recommend their own technical solutions.
