Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Advanced Data Spectrum, a data solutions company. We provide data and document solutions using OCR data capture.

What challenge were you trying to address with BorderlessMind?

We hired them for staff augmentation. We needed to add developers to some of our projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BorderlessMind has helped us with frontend web development in C# as well as backend SQL development. They’ve also done some client-server .NET work.

They were working on a web-based client application that would allow our customers to scan or import documents into our system for our OCR data capture. 

Their team works alongside our team for the most part, though there have been instances in which we’ve given broad parameters of work and leveraged their knowledge and expertise to define and develop that. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with at least a half of a dozen members from their team. There have been a few different resources on the project management level, as well as various developers for the frontend, backend, and client-server projects.

How did you come to work with BorderlessMind?

I know their CEO, so when I was looking for vendors to help us, it was a logical place to start. We’ve been really pleased with the work and have continued to use them for multiple projects.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent somewhere between $25,000–$40,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since October 2016.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

In terms of getting the project out and having it be usable, BorderlessMind has been successful. We’ve been impressed with their abilities — for instance, they were able to quickly turn some of our old VB6 code into C#, which isn’t always an easy transition to make.

They worked really well throughout the process and gave good feedback in terms of the data architecture adjustments that needed to be made as a result. It was a really positive experience and something we were struggling to do inhouse. 

How did BorderlessMind perform from a project management standpoint?

BorderlessMind is very easy to work with. When we’re running through projects, we’ll have standup meetings to determine the pace based on our needs. 

Currently, we’re working on a project with their team on a part-time basis, so we’re only meeting with them once a week. On other projects, we might meet as often as every day or every other day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really appreciate the fact that if we’re struggling with anything, BorderlessMind is really fast to jump on it. They make sure they understand what the concern is and quickly communicate it to the person responsible for getting us back on track. Their communication and responsiveness have been really good. 

They also have a dedicated contact I can reach out to for the financial side, which I really appreciate. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Occasionally we run into situations where we’re not in alignment with what needs to be done, but I’ve always appreciated their responsiveness to those issues. BorderlessMinds will always make the necessary adjustments to meet our expectations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have requirements that are as clear as possible, and have regular meetings with them.

It wasn't a specific project but a team of developers from ISHIR that helped us create the custom software we agreed to build in our contract.

What was the team composition?

We had iOS, Android, and Web people. They would help us find new skills if we needed them.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They are an extension of our local team. We had bumps but the majority was smooth sailing.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Agile methodologies so we had local team members and ISHIR team members work together to make the process successful and efficient.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They would consistently work to achieve success and that is very impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

A few language barriers but very few. Mostly really good at speaking English.
