We’re a startup company trying to make booking software for fitness.

What challenge were you trying to address with Boolean Solutions?

They’re helping us with creating a booking software for health and wellness, based on a pre-existing framework.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided our existing framework to kickstart the software development, which is available for both mobile and web applications. Boolean Solutions team primarily uses React for the web side of the software. The team also uses Ruby, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

Essentially, we want a stable web app with a user-friendly interface based on features that we designed. The main purpose is to assist the business owner with managing the bookings and other aspects of the business such as scheduling, reporting analytics, and marketing communications. They have almost completed the development work.

What is the team composition?

We work with Udit (Founder & CEO).

How did you come to work with Boolean Solutions?

Initially, I was working with one of their founders as a consultant before Boolean Solutions was launched as a company. We came to a point that we were evaluating the projects that we were working with. Once we started to really get going with our project, it was also around that time that Boolean Solutions was formed, and they brought in more people to help with my project.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Boolean Solutions in September 2019, and we continue to collaborate.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been extremely responsive and cooperative. I’ve had experience with other developers who can be idiosyncratic and that’s totally the opposite of our experience with the team. They’ve been intelligently attacking problems or features that we request. I’m also amazed at how easy it has been to get things done with Boolean Solutions.

How did Boolean Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Trello and another app. We also have bi-weekly Zoom schedules. They’ve been good at meeting deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are a hard-working team and they’ve been communicative. I have worked with other developers who just blankly take what you give them. Even if they have domain knowledge, they don’t really apply it to your project very effectively — they just wait for you to see the problem before bringing it to your attention or before doing something about it.

I’ve never had a problem with the team. Whenever we request something, they always help us to identify the problem immediately before we waste a bunch of time developing something that’s not going to work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t think they have any areas they could improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

In general, just think through what you’re trying to accomplish in advance because it makes life a lot easier when you’re starting a development project.

We needed development support for our software because we lacked the resources in-house.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team at Boolean Solutions assisted with two software development projects. One was for a front kiosk desk for real-time data for the different workspace resources that are found in the building. Through the iteration of the kiosk, users can book a resource and log-in. Their team worked on the frontend.

The second project was for meeting and resource reservations. For that, their team worked on the backend. It’s a search engine combined with a reservation system and a resource booking system. Everything is connected to our back office through an API.

Two people were working on it.
