Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm currently the country logistics director for an electrical company. My responsibility is to take care of all the supply chain activity and load in Vietnam and manage the PBL and FBL country-wide.
What challenge were you trying to address with Bollore Logistics Mexico?
We outsource them for logistics and warehousing.
What is the scope of their involvement?
Bollore Logistics Mexico is managing our warehouse operations, such as packing and grading. Currently, we use the property for our loading operations, and we’re using many vendors like Bollore to support us.
We let them know the timeframe that we’d work with. We also set KPIs for each vendor to send the delivery with the best customer services, according to our KPI requirements.
Each month, we manage the inventory with our sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) process. By the demand and supply quarterly, we work with the sales and supply team from the factory to balance the inventory.
In the process target, we manage with our SIOP yearly to control the inventory — not so high to meet the safety stock where we can fulfill the customer requirement.
What is the team composition?
They have a team of over 100 people, but we work with 20 people directly.
How did you come to work with Bollore Logistics Mexico?
When we were looking for partners for this project, we evaluated their customer service level, product cost, how innovative they were, and their safety ability to manage our operation. Bollore Logistics Mexico checked all of these boxes, so we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend a little over $1 million per year for all the services they provide.
What is the status of the engagement?
We began working together in January of 2017, and our partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Bollore Logistics Mexico is particularly remarkable in innovation and improvement during the operation. We’ve had zero accidents in the warehouse, and there is a high level of safety.
In general, their customer service level is excellent. Also, the product cost is handled well and reasonably compared to their competitors. We’re happy with their services.
How did Bollore Logistics Mexico perform from a project management standpoint?
There have been some delays in shipment, but they’ve handled that professionally. They always keep the customer updated in case there’s a delay. Moreover, they work fast and are very reliable.
Bollore Logistics Mexico reports on monthly progress and uses a dashboard to track the project. We communicate mostly by email and phone, including during emergencies. Additionally, we hold an in-person meeting with the team for activity and operations review to agree on what we can do to improve.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Comparing them to their competitors, the most important thing is that their staff is responsible and filled with experts. They handle the customer with care and support.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They need to improve in their speed of delivery.
Any advice for potential customers?
If I can recommend them to a friend, I definitely do it because they offer their services at a reasonable cost. Also, Bollore Logistics Mexico is a committed partner. Let them know the requirements of your project so both teams can work seamlessly.
