We had an initial meeting to discuss the goals of the project. I was assigned a team who I meet with 2 to 3 times a week. During the process we used a Trello board and G Suite to identify and communicate about the tasks at hand.

1 full stack project manager and 1 Web/ Mobile developer were continually working on the project. We also had a UX developer working in the background as well.

The project was completed according to the requirements in a timely manner and as expected.

The team was very vocal, communicating daily. We were always able to communicate via Google Chat and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Working the medical field, web development is a completely different world. The project manager was very effective in explaining concepts and processes that were completely foreign to me. Although it was far from simple, I felt at ease throughout the project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly I find it really difficult to think of something that they can improve on. Communication is the biggest thing, especially when you're like myself, working on a project that is completely out of your comfort zone. There was never a time that I felt that there was a problem that could not be fixed due to the constant communication that we had. With that being said, the issues that I faced was mostly with minor grammatical errors. A quick fix, so it wasn't really a big deal.

The BMV Team design and develop industrial, manufacturing systems based on the Toyota Production System. They are quick to adapt to any other projects we give to them. The project steps we usually try to adhere to are: Planning and researching the project, Analyse the scope of the project and defining it's requirements, designing the project and breaking it down into sprints, coding and implementation, Testing, deployment and maintenance.

Our projects are always on time and done to the exact specifications that we ask for. The BMV Team always surpass our expectations.

The project management team at BMV is fantastic, they ask all the right questions and ask for clarity when something is unclear. We have regular team meetings with Google Meet and Zoom, and communicate via Slack and email.

BMV makes all of their team members accessible for questions or comments, and all BMV Team members are always present for meetings when required. We are always in awe of there work ethic and professionalism, the entire BMV Team strive to do the best work possible.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I struggle to find anything that BMV needs to improve upon. Their documentation, work ethic and professionalism is impeccable.

Due to the fact that the internal development team was not enough to evacuate the amount of functionalities and bugs that were pending, it was necessary to hire the BMV development team. The main goal was to increase capacity, to quickly reduce the bug queue.

We were looking for a developer so we found around 10 freelancers or companies that satisfied most of the characteristics for the position, but we considered that BMV fulfilled most of them and because they coincided with our work culture.

We use Smart GWT as a development framework; we use an agile methodologies approach to develop the versions. These are made up of three sprints of one week each. When starting a new version, the list of tasks to be developed is delivered to the BMV developer.

They adapted to our needs and achieved our requirements.

At the beginning, the communication wasn't as good but after our feedback, it improved a lot.

BMV provided us with software development using Microsoft Visual Studio. They worked on our platform to make it more efficient to use.

We worked with three people from BMV. Our main contact helped us resolve our issues. He was very responsive on many occasions and was willing to meet on short notice. 

Sometimes, we needed to accomplish things on short notice and would get sidetracked. Our contact would shift priorities and direct himself toward the task at hand to complete those items for us. 

We also had a project manager who oversaw everything and made sure that everything was going smoothly.

How did you come to work with BMV System Integration?

We found them on Upwork — we put a posting for our project, and they responded. Then, we reviewed their credentials and decided that they seemed like a good candidate.

I don’t really handle the financial side, but I believe it’s less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with BMV from January 2019 up until November of the same year. With the whole COVID-19 issue, we had to make sure that we were directing our funding properly, so we took a little break. We’ll most likely hire them again for some work once everything settles down.

BMV improved our software and made it better and efficient for us. They helped us streamline certain things such as being able to access certain menus.

How did BMV System Integration perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication was great. We had a meeting at least once a week just to get by anything that needed to be discussed. 

My main point of contact gave me updates every other day, if not daily. He updated us on what he was working on and any issues that came about. If they had a holiday or a vacation where he would not be available, he would give notice to let us know that he’d be out for a while and would be back on a specific date.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BMV’s team was very knowledgeable and had a great work ethic. We truly appreciate their professionalism, determination, and patience that they exhibited during the course of this project. They were also very responsive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing that I would say they need to improve on. As I’ve said, one of the key things was communication, which they were great at. They also delivered in a timely manner. Those were the things that we were looking for.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Usually, BMV is pretty straightforward, so just tell them exactly what you’re looking for. They’ll tell you if they have someone on the team who can help. Also, just keep your communication lines open because they’ll send daily notifications of what they’re working on.

I find them great to work with, and I would work with them again as soon as I have the opportunity. I would also recommend my main guy’s skill set.

What was the scope of their involvement?

BMV System Integration has built several platforms for us. In one case, they took over a project where another company left off and debugged the system on the backend. For the same price, they offered much better service. 

I can’t speak to the backend, but for the frontend, they improved the workflow and made suggestions. We're at a point in our relationship where we can tell them what we need and they run with it. We’ve also used them for miscellaneous, non-essential things like web design for reoccurring websites. We’ll have a problem every once in a while, but they address it really quickly.

For one of the systems, BMV System Integration created modules that we can take and integrate into other systems so we didn’t have to redevelop them. Sometimes we take out those modules and notice an issue. BMV System Integration will go back and fix it on each system level at each level. 

In our latest project, we’re developing a system from scratch with BMV System Integration. Before, everything they developed for us already existed; they retooled, enhanced, and fixed it.

I’m personally pleased and satisfied with BMV System Integration, and so long as I’m happy, my partners are happy. For some of the SaaS products they’ve modified and developed for us, we use them internally, and they unquestionably have helped us make us money and expedite our processes and procedures.

We’ve stuck with them because of the ease of communication. We’re at the point where we talk every day and can keep in touch via email. They give great feedback when necessary. I can ask them for an itemized update at any time, and at the end of the month, we get an itemized workflow of each developer’s work on our project. We have a good relationship built on trust.

We don’t really have hard deadlines in our line of work. But sometimes, we have something stop working immediately, and when we contact them, someone responds right away and takes care of it. I also will occasionally give them prioritized tasks, and they’ll do it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, to be really honest, I’m 100% happy and satisfied with them. I’d love to transition all of our SaaS development projects to BMV System Integration.

The project was a successful engagement and deployment. The software is functioning as expected and I am satisfied with the result.

How did BMV System Integration Pvt. Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They are really awesome. They’re efficient and always get the job done quickly. Even with more complex cases, they understand everything and take ownership. We used GitHub for our software integrations and Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I trust them. My number one concern when I was looking for a company was trust because we deal with private equity and very sensitive information. When I interviewed them, I immediately felt comfortable. Throughout the process, I gave them more and more access to our entire database; by the end, they had access to the whole system.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have no complaints. The only thing was when the leader was out, there was a small drop in quality, but the rest of the team really stepped up. Other than that very short period of time, they have done an amazing job and I would work with them again in a heartbeat.

BMV System Integration developed an entire management system that streamlines the basic processes of our manufacturing business. These functions include accounting, stock control, sales and order processing, and payments.

They’re just responsible for maintaining the software now. If there are any issues with the software, they’ll take care of it.

BMV manages deadlines well, and their work is always on time. Due to our connectivity issues and electrical delays in Kenya, there were a few delays, but that wasn’t on them.

While I haven’t worked with other providers, we can say that we’re extremely happy with their services. At one point, they even sent their team of 4­–5 developers to visit us in Kenya. It’s evident that they really care about their customers.
