Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president and founder of Welby Consulting. We’re a digital marketing, advertising, and analytics firm based out of Calgary, Alberta.
What challenge were you trying to address with BLKWTR Creative?
We needed an affordable and available provider to put out quality creative content. Until we came across BLKWTR Creative, we typically shifted away from doing creative work. We focused on Google Ads because social media advertising requires creative ideas that convert.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We primarily manage campaigns via Google Ads and Facebook Ads. Mostly, BLKWTR Creative provides graphic design and brand design to our clients. Their team also does web design. Their team handles between 90%–100% of our creative work.
What is the team composition?
We work with 4–5 members of their team directly. Our main point of contact’s Sasha (Operations Manager) but we also connect with designers, videographers, and whoever’s skills are needed for a project.
How did you come to work with BLKWTR Creative?
I’d known about BLKWTR Creative because we operated inside of the same market. I’d seen their work throughout the community and knew Avi (Baus) previously. About a year ago, I approached him with our challenge and then decided to partner with them.
How much have you invested with them?
Through us and the client contracts, we spent about $60,000–$70,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the engagement in August 2019 and our partnership’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our clients are extremely pleased with BLKWTR Creative’s materials and report better results. Anytime that we run campaigns with them, people reach out to us and compliment the creative aspects. Creative was a sticking point for our team, so their team has opened up many more opportunities for us. We would typically have to source creative talent individually based on the client. We weren’t able to find designers that could work in more than one medium but BLKWTR Creative’s completely different. Their team’s flexible and exceeded in interesting projects.
How did BLKWTR Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management’s great and unique. Everything runs through the main manager, but you always have direct access to the team members working on your project. You definitely feel like you’re a part of their team. At the end of the day, there’s always a project manager who you can contact. They’re always accessible and their customer service is great, going above and beyond for us. Any hiccups, their team addresses them as soon as possible.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their creativity always impresses us. I’ve been working in this space for well over six years at this point and we’ve worked with many different creative and design agencies. There’s a noticeable difference between the creative that BLKWTR puts out than anything we’ve seen elsewhere.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could streamline their project management so that there aren’t as many networks. Having direct communication with members of their team’s great, but you also need to make sure that you’re in communication with all members of their team.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Take a look at their portfolio because it speaks for itself. If you’re local, go in to meet them because they’ve got great energy. Their corporate culture is one of their best qualities.
