Operating in a highly competitive industry, Fabco Sanctuary were reliant on Google Ads to drive enquiries to their sales team. After a period of stagnation, they were looking to get their search advertising back on track, and engaged us in late 2017.

Following a comprehensive account audit, we quickly uncovered

that prominent search queries were being suppressed by a clumsy account structure, that was far too reliant on broad match keywords to deliver results. We restructured the account in a matter of weeks, and delivered dynamic landing pages via Unbounce to solidify the user journey from both ends.

Following go-live of the new structure and landing pages, the account quickly saw an upturn in performance, delivering a 260% increase in Conversion Rate within a matter of weeks. Moreover, this also resulted in a 54% efficiency in cost per lead, due to superior relevancy throughout the user journey.

An Online Travel Agency specialising in golf holidays were looking to get their paid media back on track after a challenging 2019, with the channel a key driver of revenue growth. Going into the critical New Year booking period, which accounted for a significant chunk of annual bookings, the pressure was

on to deliver results, quickly.

Their Google Ads account was relatively mature, with tightly-knit campaign themes and proper segmentation in place, so it would take something truly innovative to drive impact.

Following a 103-point audit process it was determined that the company could have been doing more with Dynamic Search in order to expand reach, and maximise the potential of their vast website.

Amongst numerous tactics, Dynamic Search Ads were built out from a single campaign to nearly 20, with ad groups split out by targeting method in order to appropriately drive budget to areas of performance. Google Smart Bidding was also employed, with Target CPA the chose bid strategy.

The final piece of the puzzle was to provide Google with as many data signals as possible to optimise towards, and to this end hundreds of first and third-party audiences were added in order to improve targeting.

Compared to the previous January booking period, enquiry volume increased by 48%, with a 36% reduction in cost per lead.

This also had a profound impact on bookings, with a 20% increase in revenue, despite spending 6% less in Paid Search YoY.

The Savile Row Company operate in the extremely competitive menswear space, alongside the likes of TM Lewin and Charles Tyrwhitt – both of whom spend millions of pounds each year on search advertising. With much more modest budgets, and no offline retail presence, The Savile Row Company needed to get

creative in order to steal market share. With Q4 fast approaching, coupled with declining consumer spend trends, the brand needed to do something different in order to drive growth in challenging market conditions.

Combining Google Smart Shopping with Target CPA allowed for greater focus around the shopping ad format. Manual shopping campaigns were consolidated into a single campaign, which used automated bidding to deliver impressions. Finally, seasonal bid adjustments were put into place to help optimise for the surge in demand around Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Comparing December 2019 vs. December 2018, The Savile Row Company saw a 134% increase in transactions, a 150% increase in revenue, and a 36% reduction in cost per transaction. Across the all-important Black Friday weekend, transactions also increased by 61% YoY, with revenue growing by 38%, and cost per transaction declining by 16%.

Feedback summary:

The audio products retailer has had a massive spike in e-commerce sales over the past five months, in part due to blimpp's work. The quality of the traffic is also increasing despite a decreasing cost per click. The team at blimpp is communicative, delivers on a tight turnaround, and is dedicated.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the e-commerce lead for an audio products retailer.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with blimpp?

We wanted to drive quality traffic to our website in order to generate online sales.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They have been working with us to drive more volume and quality traffic through Google, Facebook, and Instagram. They integrate some of our online and offline activities.

Generally, we give them the overall theme we want for a campaign. They write the copy, send it to us for review and approval, and then go live on the intended platform.

What is the team composition?

Harpal (Founder) is my primary contact. I’ve interacted recently with another person, as well.

How did you come to work with blimpp?

They were with the company before I joined.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between £15,000 - £20,000/year (approximately $20,000 - $27,000/year).

What is the status of this engagement?

They’ve been working with our company over two years, but I personally started working with them around March 2020, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have seen a massive spike in e-commerce sales, across all KPIs, in the past five months. Some of that is due to their work, and some in response to the broader climate. Our on-site conversion indicates that we are getting more quality traffic with a much lower cost per click.

How did blimpp perform from a project management standpoint?

They do pretty well. They demonstrated some tools they wanted to use, which looked cool, but I’m more comfortable doing things the set way I’ve established. They deliver on time, sometimes with a very short turnaround, and they meet our requirements.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to turn a deliverable around in such a short time is impressive. Sometimes we have a three-day deadline.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could be more proactive with ideas around what we could be doing, but it’s also up to us to implement those ideas.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Educate them on your business, objectives, and goals, beyond just the project parameters. That allows them to understand the deeper business, and integrate their work more effectively.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a SaaS provider for market research, and I’m the digital and content studio manager. We supply market insight platforms for blue-chip companies.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with blimpp?

Being in the digital and content studio, my work is mainly about lead generation and brand awareness. On that basis, we hired blimpp for PPC services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

blimpp helped set up our ads. They did a health check on our AdWords account by making sure we were setting up channels and pointing ads in the right direction. Their team handled the foundational aspects of PPC. They ensured everything was being tracked from brochure downloads to demo requests.

We also had some issues with our website, which made the reporting challenging in the initial stages. However, blimpp gave us a lot of work and value by creating landing pages.

What is the team composition?

I had an account manager who was my main point of contact. We also worked with their director who oversaw anything that needed to be tweaked or raised.

How did you come to work with blimpp?

They were referred to us. We were considering a lot of people but blimpp had great value for money and could work at a moment’s notice — which is typically how our department works.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $5,000–$10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with blimpp in January 2018, and our partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

blimpp did a great job. We saw a 20% uptick in demo requests across the year. What’s more, our cost per acquisition improved, and it was lower than we expected. Our cost per acquisition had been very, very high. Typically, our sales cycle was about 18 months from the initial stages to the close of the deal. At this point, we were barely getting ten leads a month through our website. Through blimpp’s help, that increased to 15 within the first six months.

Then, we started creating and pushing content out. We had a strategy for ensuring we’d be listed for the keywords we were looking at. As a next step, we transformed how we communicated our solutions. blimpp ensured that the brand awareness around that transformation was extremely high.

Our cost per lead was brought down twofold, to around what the industry average in our area is. The blimpp team has been improving that ever since. We’ve also introduced marketing automation into our department.

Our team sees the ROI they’ve brought to the table. blimpp is always proactive about suggesting different types of content we can initiate, such as landing page strategies. Their team ensures the omnichannel approach is working for us. They go above and beyond.

How did blimpp perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through Slack, Skype, and email. Their account manager was based in England, then moved to Canada but I never saw an interruption in the service. Our teams hold weekly Skype calls. Everything has been very smooth sailing.

They’re easy to get in touch and communicate with. From a project management point of view, they’re very on-point. Their team provides daily and weekly reports. We always know what’s going on after weekly calls. blimpp helps us if we need suggestions on keyword research, amongst other things.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our team gives very last-minute requests in order to put some pressure on blimpp, and they’ve always delivered. We changed the messaging of our solutions and introduced some new solutions. The blimpp team helped us define how we could approach the change, and now our Google AdWords is working really well.

Their team is very thorough, from beginning to end. They’re communicative, transparent, and make us aware of any strategies we should be looking out for. What’s more, they take our suggestions and implement them very quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d suggest bringing more visualizations into their reports. It’s okay to read numbers, but we want the ability to visualize the data. This is because it’s helpful to see what’s required and where we need to make improvements in a snapshot. There’s not much else, other than that.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

As I’ve pointed out, blimpp is a collaborative partner. Clients should absolutely run ideas past them. There’s not much I can say, other than they’re very good from end to end, in terms of what they do.

Their team helped us out massively in the beginning. We were meandering, even though they were giving us suggestions, so we plodded along for a bit. Once we knew exactly what we wanted to communicate, they were ready to help straight away. Other than the visualization side of things, they’re great.

blimpp has delivered significant increases in revenue and ROI. Online shopping and PPC revenue numbers have increased significantly. Their team is easy to work with and responds quickly to all communications.

The client submitted this review online.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the marketing director for a men's clothing brand. We sell online via our website and Harpal and his team have been responsible for our PPC campaigns for the last 2.5 years.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire blimpp?

I knew enough about PPC to know that our existing agency were not managing budgets effectively nor driving the best results out of our campaigns. I moved our PPC management to Harpal and his team and within a week he had restructured a lot of campaigns to improve conversions, reduce CPA and crucially increase revenue.

What were your goals for this project?

Increase revenue and conversion while reducing CPA

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I had actually attended a training course with Harpal and was impressed with his quick, decisive review of our account. I knew he would be able to run the account more efficiently than our existing agency. I didn't consider any other companies as I was sure that we would be in good hands.

Describe the project in detail.

They needed to take our existing campaigns and run them more effectively as well as set up new campaigns as needed. Through the agency we have also trialed some CRO campaigns and just started running some facebook campaigns. They report back daily on a micro level, weekly with more detail and monthly, they present to the rest of the directors of the company.

What was the team composition?

I email both Harpal and Aman on a regular basis and they are quick to respond.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

PPC spent approx. £5.6k more in December YoY, delivering £45k more revenue vs. 2018. ROI was up 53%, due to strong performance coming through from Shopping (393% ROI vs. 270% last year). PPC Revenue target was exceeded by 95%

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They are very easy to work with, responding fast and effectively

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They know their product inside out and implement best practise in every element of the campaigns. Their presentations back to the board in our monthly meetings helps demonstrate their expertise and the results speak for themselves.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There has been the odd occasion where automation has perhaps been relied upon too much and a manual check of our account was needed in order to spot a campaign that wasnt working.
