Bot

What was the task?

Create a Telegram bot for multiple blockchains that would allow users to track balances and transactions of their own and of the nodes they delegate to/vote for. The bot also helps to collect information about the users and the nodes they delegate to/vote for.

It combines information on transactions from different blockchains in one place, giving information about financial receipts from staked tokens/coins. A minimalistic and convenient Telegram bot interface was required.

Challenges we encountered

We had to create a Telegram bot that could add the user’s addresses or the addresses of network validators. After that, the bot must track the state and absolutely all the actions on several blockchains that are associated with the added addresses and which sends notifications. This allows delegates to monitor how regularly and timely their validator pays a reward, how often the validator skips block validation and, based on this information, delegate their funds to a reliable validator.

What we did

We figured out the consensus mechanisms and distinctive features of several blockchains. For greater security, we ran the nodes of these blockchains on our server. In order to simultaneously monitor all transactions and states of several blockchains, we used an approach that entailed writing multi-threaded applications. Docker technology was used to quickly and conveniently deploy this system on the server.

What was the task?

Remme faced a lot of problems using Hyperledger Sawtooth, therefore, to meet the demands of large enterprise clients, a more optimal and effective solution was needed that was based on a scalable, fast, reliable and secure blockchain. It was necessary to review the existing solutions on the market that could allow the implementation of a new consensus

model and the internal economics. At the same time, the blockchain had to support smart contracts.

Challenges

When you deal with blockchain, especially one that is providing Public Key Infrastructure, you should always be aware of the security of the code you write as well as keeping in mind different adversarial usage scenarios. Detecting and managing such scenarios was one of the obstacles we managed to handle. Another challenge was making things work :) Even if you know your tools, there is always scope for the unexpected. EOSIO is constantly evolving and changing its blockchain architecture and something that worked previously could be suddenly broken. At one point, we even found and fixed a bug in eos.cdt. Last but not the least was the task of meeting business requirements and maintaining high throughput while working within fairly limited blockchain capabilities.

Our contribution

Our experience of working with the EOSIO blockchain and with Remme allowed us to provide expertise, advising on what was possible and what was not. We proposed a robust architecture for Remme’s solution and then implemented the entire logic and economy of Remme protocol. Besides dev matters, we also handled devops. We used the best fitting branch model, as we had to constantly integrate patches from the EOSIO blockchain, and set up continuous integration and a continuous deployment solution for development and client convenience.

We created a new EOS-based blockchain with a different consensus mechanism, which distributes awards more fairly among block producers, both active and those in standby mode.

Pandora Boxchain

Pandora Boxchain is a decentralized protocol and network for artificial intelligence (AI). It is generic computing on Prometheus consensus with open/free market for software, computing power and data.

What was the task?

To create a working network based on Ethereum smart contracts that allows one to perform distributed AI computing in a

trustless environment. Implement economic incentives for the consensus participants.

Challenges / difficulties we confronted doing this

  • Developers of neural networks, owners of datasets and computing capacities should be able to sell their services in trustless environment, without intermediaries and censorship.
  • Complicated platform logic and workflows should be based on public blockchain.
  • Such a large network with the huge amount of off-chain computations requires excellent optimization for fee reduction.

What we have done / Our contribution

At the beginning of the project, we conducted testing and evaluation of the most well known public blockchains, and we chose Ethereum as the most suitable for launching the network. 

It was difficult to implement all the consensus logic with Solidity, since the Ethereum has a block limit on calculations. We have developed over 35 interconnected smart contracts. Then we optimized their structure and interaction in order to reduce fees for users. The result is a working network implementing the Pyrrha consensus.

Quantfury

Project summary

Quantfury is a mobile application for trading stocks on European and American exchanges, cryptocurrencies, commodities futures  (oil, gas, metals etc.) and popular pairs of traditional currencies. Quantfury displays asset prices in real time and does not charge commissions on transactions, nor on deposit or withdrawal of

funds.

What was the task?

Quantfury token management releases in the form of application packages and deployed smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. This platform should serve features for the tokenholder’s control panel and ERC20 token functionality.

Challenges we encountered

To create a reliable platform in the form of a dApp for investors to manage token assets. Another task was to ensure the functionality of the contract administrator using custom logic and including the issuance of tokens, their transfer and exchange, while eliminating risk.

What we achieved

Implemented the entire platform that works on the mainnet with real funds. Adapted the product for future integration with a multisig wallet.

What was the task?

To demonstrate blockchain implementation in a single use case, so a customer could evaluate its advantages such as speed and reliability. 

Challenges we encountered

The network is under active development, so we had to adapt the

application on the go, changing and adjusting it to reflect new changes to the blockchain.

We also had to deal with a lack of development features in the Solana ecosystem as well as lack of functionality in the wallet extension.

What we did

We implemented and launched a dice game which provides honesty control with the help of a commit reveal scheme based on a smart contract.

We also added features into the wallet extension to sign arbitrary transactions needed for the game with a neat design.

GEO Protocol

GEO Protocol is an open source overlay protocol that enables creation and interoperability of value transfer networks (both blockchain and non-blockchain) in a lightweight, cost-efficient, and scalable way.

What problems did we have to solve?

  • Creating the scope of interaction rules for native blockchain with the following properties: decentralized, scalable, semi-permissioned.
  • Creating
a proper token economy for the network that combines several different ecosystems and actors.
  • Finally, making mathematical and economic models to verify the tokenomics’ efficiency.
  • Our contribution

    We have studied the basic mechanics and algorithms of the protocol carefully, investigated the existing token models and designed a token economy for the protocol's network to coordinate the actions of different actors. To prove the efficiency of the proposed tokenomics we created a mathematical model and simulation of the network performance under various conditions.

    We have developed a solution that allowed event data collection from the network of nodes (node appearance, payment processed, a payment channel created, a node shuts down), cache them and display them in real time in the user interface. The calculations of the position of 3D elements and the web-socket interface were optimized so that the required performance was achieved.

    GEO Portal. Prototype for deposit / withdrawal and exchange of ETH & BTC via Telegram interface. We decided to create a Telegram bot with an intuitive interface and that could work on all devices. The bot is exchanging various assets, and an external cryptocurrency exchange served as a custodian.

    Project summary

     Remme’s open source protocol utilizes blockchain technology to replace traditional centralized instances of Public Key Infrastructure with a blockchain-based Network of Trust.

    What was the task?

    Like many blockchain startups, Remme faced the problem of token turnover between different blockchain ecosystems,

    because there are no universal solutions on the market for now. 

    Our task was to ensure two-way token transferability as well as the ability to swap between the Ethereum and Hyperledger networks.

    Challenges we encountered

    • Remme’s ERC20 tokens have to be transferable to the native blockchain and vice-versa.
    • Lack of native interoperability between Hyperledger and Ethereum blockchains makes direct asset transfer impossible.
    • The bridge between two blockchains should have the highest level of performance, security and reliability. 

    Our contribution

    We conducted a review of existing solutions, and together with the Remme team decided to use atomic swap technology. 

    In the course of the development, we encountered certain difficulties: the imperfection of Hyperledger’s core, and significant differences in consensus that made synchronization between blockchains hard. Therefore, we implemented a number of non-standard solutions, which ensures stable and safe operation of the migration service. 

    It allowed native tokens to be transferred into ERC20 Ethereum tokens and back in a fast and trustless way.

    Our team faced the problem of token turnover between different blockchains. Solutions on the market weren’t appropriate for us, so we hired Blaize to develop a token bridge with the ability to swap between the Ethereum and Hyperledger networks. It was our first project.

    After that we also needed to work on 2 more projects: an application prototype for two-factor user authorization utilizing the Remme blockchain & service to keep transaction comments and notifications via Telegram bot.

    What were your goals for this project?

    We had 3 projects with Blaize. As I mentioned above – a task of the first one was to ensure two-way token transferability as well as the ability to swap between the Ethereum and Hyperledger networks.

    Our second project was aimed to develop an app to protect user data with a password, fingerprint, and face recognition based on Remme blockchain. Additionally, there was a need for a service to store and share transaction comments and notifications via Telegram bot.

    The last, but not the least project appeared from a consequence of several problems using Hyperledger Sawtooth. As a goal we had to review the existing blockchain solutions on the market that could allow the implementation of a new consensus model and internal economics. At the same time, the blockchain had to support smart contracts.

    How did you select this vendor?

    I found Blaize by the recommendation of a friend of mine. We met with their CEO Dima & CTO Alex and decided to cooperate with them.

    I had a general understanding of what we needed. After several meetings, the project manager helped us to describe all input information in the brief. Then the brief was approved and the development process started.

    I could see and observe the project tasks during all stages. If there were any difficulties, dev team offered creative solutions. In general, I'm pleased with the results of all projects.

    What was the team composition?

    We had 8 members in our team. We had Skype calls with our project manager 2 times a week. Also, I had meetings with Blaize founders about strategic tasks one time per month.

    Blaize team conducted a number of research studies in order to pick the right technologies that would provide user data protection for all projects. Our clients and the team can be sure of our data security.

    I consider our engagement was very productive and effecient. With some exceptions, Blaize team always delivered on time and within budget. Some things have been more complex than were initially foreseen. But it wasn't surprisingly for me, most of the projects defy us so we always aware to reserve some additional time and money.

    Our main goal was to create a supply chain based on HyperLedger Fabric from IBM to give our customers all presize details about our refractory materials. We have been clearly understanding our request and met with Blaize's top management to discuss all the details and record them. And from this step we began our collaboration. We used Slack, Hangouts, and Jira as communication tools. It allowed us to receive updates on how the work on the project is going on.

    Blaize assigned 4 people for a project team. Predominantly, we regularly communicated with the project manager. Also, we had meetings with Dima, CEO of Blaize at the discussed milestones of the project.

    Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

    Now when the project has ended, metallurgy enterprises always can get reliable information about the production of refractories. It became a competitive advantage and increased clients' credibility to our company. Moreover, we were able to initiate cooperation with several metallurgies from other countries.

    These guys are super flexible. Firstly they suggested a few channels for communication for us to choose from. They gave us access to JIRA and It allowed me to monitor a compliance with the project scope. Also, we had regular meetings to discuss how things are going on.

    What did you find most impressive about this company?

    We always try to avoid protracted negotiations during the contracting phase. We are adherents of responding quickly and careful consideration. So we hooked up with Blaize on these values. Our communication was smart and fast and their deep experience in blockchain impressed us. Furthermore, I liked a reference meeting with their client in the same industry.

    On the one hand, we understood that we were paying for the expertise and teams' experience in developing the supply chain on the blockchain technology but the other hand, the cost could be cheaper. Some roles and tasks of the Blaize team could be transferred to someone from our team.

    We have researched and tried out a few ready-made CRM systems. Thus, we realized, there's no existing solution that would fit our requirements so we decided to develop our own. The initial idea was to keep the database with all of our clients and confidential documents in one place.

    The systems was supposed to become a comprehensive solution for: sales managers, lawyers and financial managers. Generally, we were needed everything in one system. When we started to work with Blaize, we had arranged several meetings to record the conditions and the requirements that the system should contain.

    Simultaneously, we have been working on a new website. In general, we were satisfied with the result, each employee of our team became more effective as (s)he was able to reduce the amount of time for routine work.

    The most important influence for Alterra Group is that we established processes within our team with the CRM system. We were acutely aware of the need for implementation CRM system during last year.

    Fortunately, Blaize helped us to estimate the practical outcome of integrating new CRM system. Our new website has a pleasant appearance and we also hope it will bring more conversions, than the old one. Now it’s too early to talk about the results in numbers because we have just begun to measure them.

    Our main goal was to differentiate from competitors. Blaize helped us to achieve our goal in two ways: - website creation (our product is attractive but selling online is challenging, that’s why it was important for us to develop an outstanding and memorable website that converts); - providing 3D tours with higher quality than competitors. This became possible due to the integration of 3D shooting software with the website and the company's database.

    How did you select this vendor?

    While we have been considering other companies, my long-time friend has advised to speak to a Blaize team. I have been already impressed by a systematic approach on the stage of the project estimation. Thoughtful work of the team has had a critical impact on my decision and we have started the project.

    We have been engaged to a few meetings during the first 1–2 weeks to fill the brief out together. After that Blaize team managed to deliver web site in 3 iterations, so our team was able to control the process of development. Afterwards integration with our database went pretty smooth as well. In general, the development team appeared to be a highly proffesional and responsive. The project was completed earlier than planned, which exceeded my expectations.

    We directly worked with a project manager. The team consisted of me, project manager, designer and two developers. Sometimes I also worked with a Blaize top managers to consult about strategic questions.

    Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

    Since the launch our team has already managed to attract more than 250 projects from the new web site. All of our clients are happy with ability to add their tours on the websites easier and faster than before. Moreover, we didn't have a single failure that has occurred since providing integration. Now adding a virtual tour takes up to 15 minutes of the programmer's work. This was achieved with the handy integration of shooting 3D tours software with a website and our company database. Thus, we got an opportunity to provide the highest level of service to our customers.

    How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

    We were aware that the project was heading in the right direction at every step of communication. At the beginning of the draft, we determined the communication channels that were convenient for us and the project manager set up a roadmap of the project. Each Monday the project manager was sending the updates what had been done and plans for the week. This approach allowed to agree all parties expectations and obligations. I assume we are getting good results and finished this project earlier thanks to the systematic approach of the Blaize team.

    What did you find most impressive about this company?

    We were deeply impressed by the company's approach. Their flexibility is brilliant! They were ready to call up to discuss any issues at any time. I feel they don’t just want to work out human-hours, but focus on business results instead. In fact, I saw the team to treat our product as their own one. And this was drastically helpful for our team. I felt myself more as a partner than as a client.

    Are there any areas for improvement?

    During our work, we had a few issues. The most memorizable one interrelates with the fact that one of the developers had lower knowledge level than it was initially needed. Firstly, it made up with several delays of work delivery, which was pretty frustrating. Afterwards, project manager managed to replace that developer with the experienced one. In general, I had no big problems with the dev team or managers from Blaize company.
