A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work in sales and marketing at LabJack Corporation. We manufacture data acquisition hardware for engineers, scientists, and researchers.
What challenge were you trying to address with Blade Commerce?
We hired them to manage our paid ads and paid search efforts.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Blade Commerce manages our paid ads and paid search campaigns. We’ve provided them with a brief and guidelines. Previously, we had existing ads and paid search campaigns going, and Blade Commerce has created new ads and improved the existing ones.
The team has managed ads on Facebook, Google, and Bing. They’ve also managed a few ads on LinkedIn.
What is the team composition?
I only work with Olvier (CEO), though he has a team helping him behind the scenes.
How did you come to work with Blade Commerce?
I had previous contact with Blade Commerce’s owner from when he worked at another company. When he went out on his own, he had already developed a good reputation for being a good communicator, a hard worker, and proactive. Therefore, we decided to hire Blade Commerce.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend $600 a month with Blade Commerce.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around June 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Blade Commerce has done a good job of achieving our goals. Our primary metric is the return on ad spend (ROAS); overall, the ads have worked well. We haven’t tracked the metrics weekly or monthly, so we don’t have conclusive quantitative metrics.
The Blade Commerce team is responsive when we indeed support or require changes.
How did Blade Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?
They do a good job of completing the project within the budget and timeline. Although they’re not as proactive as I would like, Blade Commerce responds well whenever I reach out to them.
We use email and Google Meet for communication. Additionally, we sometimes record videos with Loom to send them back and forth.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Blade Commerce provides good value for money. Their team is very personable, responsive, and good at listening — they’re easy to communicate with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could be more proactive in communication. Additionally, Blade Commerce could improve in outlining areas where they’re not as strong; they could say when something isn’t their area of expertise.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Set clear objectives, start small, and set deadlines between 2–3 weeks.
