I wanted to create a mobile application that would allow the users to easily share recipes via text, video & images, allow others to rate it & comment it & share it with others. The TA that I was looking at was a layman with little knowledge of digital so the entire experience should be easy.

How did you select this vendor?

I have had an extensive experience on digital, hence finding the right partner was not difficult especially when they come highly recommended by everyone in the industry.

Describe the project in detail.

After a series of meetings we decided on the flow of the project. I was guided by the Big Rattle Team on a list of dos & donts. Once we all agreed on the same, I was given wireframes & couple of design options. I really wanted the UI / UX to be simple and they delivered.

Once we narrowed down on the design & features that we would want for phase 1 , the development of the app started for android version. There were several rounds of quality check done.

What was the team composition?

Though in all meetings I had interacted with the founders, I was assigned a designer, a developer & quality check expert.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The application was delivered on time by BRT and with UX as I expected

How did you select this vendor?

We had shortlisted two vendors. While the other vendor appeared to be more cost effective , we selected Big Rattle for their responsiveness , keen attention to detail and of course their exhaustive mobility technology stack across both Android and ios. A key aspect of the selection was our ability to see them as a long term technology partner and not just a one off project vendor.

Once we selected Big Rattle , we had a series of meetings to analyse the customer requirements in detail . We have also done customer onsite visits and process walkthroughs together - a detailed technical proposal has been submitted to the customer, comprising of the overall solution architecture including data flows .

What was the team composition?

We have a team of a Business Analyst , project manager ,and 2 developers assigned to our project. They are working alongside our Sales and Technical team on a daily basis.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have been able to quickly turn around a prototype for the customer so they can intuitively see how the Android migration would look like for their end user.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We are in constant communication with the Team at Big Rattle. We were able to setup urgent conference calls if required within a couple of hours to ensure important customer responses never went beyond 24 hours.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their mobility app skill set and cross platform technology stack expertise. The business insight and overview they bring to the table - much beyond a standard software development company. They are responsive, flexible and most importantly easy to work with as a true partner.

I’m the founder of Sanctuary Nature Foundation. We’re a climate-focused non-profit organization that runs a wildlife magazine as well.

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Rattle Technologies?

We were looking to strengthen online presence, and we needed a partner to help us design and develop a new website for our organization.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Big Rattle Technologies developed the backend and frontend of the website — everything from architecture to the design and user interface was done from scratch. 

They've helped us integrate our social media pages on Facebook and Twitter with our website, creating a better web presence. The team also consults on digital strategy.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with three or four people, though there was a larger team supporting the project. Our main points of contact were Ashoke (Co-Founder & Director, Big Rattle Technologies) and Girish (Co-Founder & Director, Big Rattle Technologies).

Ashoke and I began talking about our organization soon after we met, and he was excited by what we were doing, which inspired the start of our business relationship.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in September 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Though the website is still in the testing period and hasn’t been officially launched, we’ve received great feedback from people who have used it so far. Technical professionals, businesspeople, and children alike are all impressed by Big Rattle Technologies’ work.

How did Big Rattle Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

The team has managed the project well. Our experience with them has been less bureaucratic than with past vendors, which has allowed us to spend more time focusing on the project itself. 

To communicate and track progress, we use email, Zoom, and spreadsheets.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our experience with Big Rattle Technologies has been the opposite of our previous engagements. The team is patient, always willing to answer any of our questions. 

At times, they’re almost more eager than we are to solve problems that arise within the project. While they provide strategic input, they never intrude.

The team has also repeatedly suggested ways to help us stay in budget, such as continued use of certain software or techniques rather than purchasing new ones, which we appreciate greatly.

Big Rattle Technologies provides really strong, user-focused work. They approach a project from the perspective of users and how to best reach them rather than from a technical perspective.

Initially project manager and BA were assigned to take entire requirements and understand it. After that 2 developers and 1 tester was assigned on the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Application is being used as an internal applications in couple of manufacturing plants of the customers. They were able to optimize the manufacturing process.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was very good, as initial requirement gathering phase was detailed out so much that it became much easier for both of us to be on the same page for execution.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Project Management. Most of the software projects fails due to poor management and requirements not clear. Big Rattle made sure that the requirements are first cleared and understood by both of us and after that only started execution of the project.

Not any I can think of as of now.

It was completely managed by Big Rattle. From our side it was a team of 3 people. Our CEO & 2 data assistants to feed the data.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within 6 months we saw alot of football on our app. Also it was our festival season so customers were looking to encash reward points and known product to shop for themselves.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team at Big Rattle helped us go through the entire process smoothly. Since the product segment we belong to still has a traditional touch and feel mindset for customers to purchase the product.

We had to give extra data to help buyers shop on our app. The data transfer also was a tedious task and they strategically broke it down into batches and made it less tedious.

Their in-depth study and understanding of the customers' requirements really impressed us. It took us a few meetings to close the concept and agree to start the project. Their data and analytics were spot on for us.

This was the brief given to the bigrattle team My team and I should be able to sign up with authentication in place via OTP.

The app requires a fresh login with every launch » Dashboard : The users (my team) can add their assigned client details to order items . Individual user will have their order history, and personalized alerts on their homepage. I should be able to view all the orders »

Calculating Price : The user should get an exact calculated price according to the weight of the metal. Mainly to keep track of Gold and Silver prices for different carat based on todays published market rate.

Notifications and Push messages : When a user marks the product as finished, I should get a notification. If a deadline is missed then too I (as the admin and proprietor) should get a notification.

What was the team composition?

My first few meetings was with the founders of the company and they took my inputs and prepared a flow document and then based on that the wireframe was prepared. Once i approved the wireframe - i dealt with the designer and the android developer.

This was an app for internal use and we're still using it successfully till date.

They conducted analysis and gathered requirements, then designed, developed, and implemented our core platform. They started with business requirements and converted them into system requirements. Working with our business analyst team, Big Rattle Technologies designed user journeys, created wireframes for the frontend, defined system architecture for the backend, and then did coding and delivery.

What was the team composition?

The project team had about six people, including a project manager, a scrum master, a product manager, developers, and a delivery team.

We did about $2.5 million worth of transactions within three months of launch, and the system never went down.

The Swiss Travel Pass SuperStar is a marketing campaign aimed at educating and rewarding travel. The campaign is live in India, ASEAN countries, GCC countries, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and the U.S. We modify the campaign annually, adding new regions and adjusting programs to suit each market.

We wanted to ensure that the campaign functioned smoothly and successfully on all digital devices.

How did you select this vendor?

One of the directors at Big Rattle Technologies was an acquaintance. Fed up of with our previous IT partner, we had a discussion. They had already undertaken a similar project and could successfully eliminate our frustrations. What began as a one-year trial is now an annual contract.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

They've developed a backend that generates reports and improved the UX of our frontend, creating a website that users can easily access on any screen. The campaign is an education-cum-sales program, so combining the two while creating reports is complicated. The Big Rattle Technologies seamlessly and comfortably implements the requirements of each region. We've also partnered them for another minor project.

What was the team composition?

The team is small but effective. We have three developers, plus their director as our main point of contact. I coordinate teams across multiple regions, then share information with Big Rattle Technologies. They deliver the implementation, which I share with my colleagues.

Sales have grown and participation has increased across the market. That improves our brand image and recollection.

After our earlier experiences, Big Rattle Technologies is the smoothest ride possible.

I'm impressed by their knowledge and understanding. They understand our requirements and the available technologies. It's rare to find an IT team that understands the complexities of the travel industry.

Their timely delivery has also impressed us. Even when we don't give them enough time, they deliver.

Nobody's perfect, but we can't pinpoint areas for improvement.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the founder of two web apps, Equitotal and Zero Admin. They are both apps that help professionals run the administrative side of their businesses. Equitotal focuses on equine professionals, and Zero Admin is more open ended, but is currently focused on chimney sweeps.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Rattle Technologies?

We started development three years ago with a company based in the UK, and later realized that what we had built wasn’t fit for purpose. We had to find a new development company to redo certain aspects of the product.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started out with a relatively small scope of work, but it expanded significantly throughout the project as we learned about the extent of what was possible. We created two mobile-friendly web apps, and they focused primarily on building out databases on the backend. We had a separate developer working on our frontend, and Big Rattle has worked closely with them to integrate payment providers and create a cohesive project. In another month or so, Big Rattle will be taking over development on the frontend as well.

What is the team composition?

There are about five developers working on the project, and I’m primarily in contact with two other project managers/directors. The development team has been in contact with the developer working on our frontend.

How did you come to work with Big Rattle?

I’ve done a lot of business in India in the past, and a trusted colleague I’d worked with recommended Big Rattle. We didn’t interview any other companies.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent just under $200,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together over a year ago, and we’ve been in the process of launching the apps over the last 2 months. Our relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re a small company, so working with Big Rattle has allowed us to move forward. We couldn’t be doing this without them. Our old product had a very small number of users, and it’s taken us a year to develop this new product that supports what we were initially looking to create. As I mentioned we’re now in the process of launching the app, and the process has been going brilliantly. The response has been phenomenal so far, especially among users that were on our original product. Inevitably there have been a few minor bugs that have come up during the launch, and they’ve been great about fixing them in a timely manner.

How did Big Rattle perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very effective and very patient. We’re looking to do a lot more work with them, some of which was started by our former frontend developer. These additional tasks are at various stages of development, and they’ve been very flexible in determining an updated scope that incorporates these tasks. We have Skype calls twice a week to discuss progress and address any issues, which has been a fantastic set up for this project so far.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We haven’t had much experience with other development companies, but when I compare them to the UK-based developer we were working with, they have been much better and much more accommodating. They’re happy to make changes and/or additions even if they’re not already properly scoped out from the beginning. Most importantly though, they have a positive attitude and are great to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think I have enough experience with other companies to comment on that. As far as I’m concerned, everything has gone very well. I’ve wanted the project to move more quickly at points, but delays have largely been on our end.
