Introduce your business and what you do there

I am the founder of Inpetus which is a 2-year-old software development company. We develop software, offer graphic design services, marketing, social media. We create an entire environment for companies that want to improve their online strategy. We have several clients for web development, application development, etc. The large majority of our clients are businesses.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Betha Media?

We’ve worked on several applications with Betha Media. Our collaborations are focused on the applications that require a higher level of design or user experience design. Generally, we work with them for specific designs, for example, we needed specific designs for military, the oil industry, several hotels, etc..

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We work together on the entire user experience research studies, designs of these apps, test them, and see how users are interacting with these developed platforms. We ask three things from them: the images, editable versions, and web designs in HTML so that our software developers can keep working on them.

What is the team dynamic?

Four to five employees for the big projects. For one of the big web projects, they worked on 50 pages which were really hard work. They delivered mobile and web versions.

How did you come to work with Betha Media?

When I started my software development company, our designers did not create a good user experience. I told the founder, who is a family member, about my user experience needs, we did the first trial with her team for the web, user experience design needs and they understood all the requirements and needs of the projects. We then collaborated on other application development projects.

How much have you invested with Betha Media?

We’ve worked on several collaborations. In Venezuela, we have lower prices because of the current situation. It may not seem much in terms of prices in other countries, but the bigger projects are under $5,000.
 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on July 2016 and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Every time we finish our projects, we ask for an evaluation from our clients. The development work is always good but clients are more interested in the user friendliness and user experience. All of our critiques were related to the design of the applications, the user flows, and we understood we needed to work with them. We stopped working with our previous designers because our clients were not pleased. When they were interacting with the apps, they noticed they were missing features or steps. Once we started working with Betha Media, we started getting better evaluations from our clients.

How did Avra perform from a project management standpoint?

Several of our clients are not based in Venezuela. We use Skype for meetings, Trello, and Slack with them. Once the requirements are in, we transfer everything to Trello, we move cards once things are ready. We use Slack when it’s a big project for the conversations. Betha Media’s founder is an engineering student and she is really good with program management. Some clients even send requirements through Whatsapp. We use all possible tools to make the clients comfortable.

What did you find most impressive about Betha Media?

They solved our problem of not understanding the end user and user experience requirements. A programmer is not usually thinking about what the user thinks. The programmers are focused on developing the features. Betha Media does all of the user experience research, interviews, requirements and translate what the user needs to the programmers. It makes things easier and saves lots of time for us.

Are there any areas Betha Media could improve?

When they started, they used web elements which we were not used to. We recommended them to improve on this. We suggested Bootstrap web elements for example and they’ve made things easier for the programmer. They’ve been able to balance this after we suggested the area for improvement.
