Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of Awards City, a virtual challenge company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Be Smart Design?

We’d hired them on numerous occasions, but the most recent project was for our virtual challenge company. We hired them for brand creation.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped develop our brand guidelines and nailed down what the brand was going to represent. From there, they did the graphic design work around it, including logos, social media, templates, colors, and other things like that. They also created the website, too.

What is the team composition?

I worked with four people from their team. One person was focused on the tech work and they worked closely with the web designer. Another teammate worked on the design and Philippa (Managing Director) was the project manager.

How did you come to work with Be Smart Design?

We’ve decided to keep using them and hired them for this project because we trust them. They’ve done a good job in the past. Putting out a tender process can be time-consuming and since I’d already had a good experience working with Be Smart Design, I thought they’d be the best bet.

How much have you invested with them?

In total and including everything, we spent around £50,000 pounds (approximately $63,700 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

This project ran from April–September 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t been able to share the designs yet since the project is only just completed, but overall we were very happy with the work they produced.

How did Be Smart Design perform from a project management standpoint?

They were reasonably accessible over the phone, so I can just pick up the phone and call them and not have to schedule a call. It’s a bit funny because this project was born from the COVID-19 lockdown, so we had to do everything over Skype instead of going to their office. We’d use Skype every two weeks and then be on the phone every other day for the website.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their can-do attitude was the best part of working with them; they were really positive. Other companies would say they couldn’t do something specific on the website, but Be Smart Design wants to know everything we needed and they’d do it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re expensive, but you get what you pay for. Obviously we’d like to pay less in price, but we’re really happy with their service and have no qualms.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Outline the budget and stick to it.
