Armed with the vision of a decidedly distinct sartorial niche, Lebanese-born, Paris-raised Mira Mikati pursued her fashion ambitions from a young age, attending Paris’s École Supérieure des arts et Techniques de la Mode at 17 before gaining certificates from Parsons New York and Central Saint Martins. The archetype to her now-eponymous label was conceived in the early 2000s, with Selfridges and Bon

Marché among the first to pick up orders, before being put on hold in 2004 for a familial relocation to Beirut.

“I felt that if I was just going to do it halfway, I’d rather stop,” she says. “I am a sick perfectionist.”

It didn’t take long for Mira to re-integrate into the industry, co-founding what was soon to become known as the Collette-meets-Dover Street Market of the Middle East, Plum. Launching the concept store amidst a tumultuous political climate was a demanding feat, still Mikati managed to adapt to the apprehensive environment, balancing buys and kids as the store quickly rose in the ranks of contemporary luxury fashion meccas.

A persistent longing to return to design eventually led to the launch of a capsule collection with Nice-based brand Façonnable. Dubbed “Ç x Façonnable”. The assembly of wares reflected a return to the label’s Rivieran roots, re-invigorating the half-century-old company with the carefree and effortless style of a summer holiday. Inspired by “the idea of a permanent vacation and the joy that comes with being barefoot in the grass, camping, and picnicking in fresh air”, Mikati’s mini collection was a sell-out success, laying the groundwork for her own Eternal Summer-centric brand.

Three years later in 2015, Mikati landed in the London fashion scene, setting out to disrupt the monotony of the design world with her own unique sartorial radar—a perfect pairing by industry standards with the fashion capitol’s reputation for daring aesthetics.

“As a buyer, I wished I could find something fun that was also beautifully tailored, which is exactly what I set out to do.”

Mikati realized her eponymous brand as a return to frenzied innocence and having fun, rooting the eternally optimistic designs in a mélange of smile-inducing detailing and classically bespoke tailoring. The honestly cheerful and unapologetically cheeky line quickly gathered a cult following headed by street style starlets and style-savvy celebs with its timeless silhouettes, dedication to colour, and tactile showcases.

Collections of carefree-meets-cool designs span the realms of playfully gamine and candidly feminine—all while channelling inspirational undertones hatched from art world collaborations with personal idols like KAWS and Darcel, adventure-filled travels, and a resistance to the idea of sartorial conventionality. The infectious, whimsical spirit that carries through emoji patch duds, hand-painted leather jackets, and childlike doodles is reflective of Mikati’s own ultra-upbeat outlook on life.

Surprisingly, the video generated sales though we didn't expect it to. The primary aim of the video was to work on brand awareness, not on sales. It's great that video motivated customers to buy apps by MacPaw after watching the video.

The communication was fast and smooth even despite my travels at that time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed with the creativity of the ideas the team suggested. They persuaded me to shoot in a shooting studio, not in the office. I never regretted that decision.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I made a list of several companies providing video production services. I've checked the portfolios and narrowed the list to 3 vendors. I've sent the brief that contained project description, goals and target audience. We've set meetings with vendors where they presented their ideas of how the project can be implemented. BangBang was the team with the most appealing and creative ideas that resonated with our product.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We've had several meetings to choose the right idea for the project and decide on the details of implementation. BangBang worked closely with our team in terms of script and story board development. We had an opportunity to give feedback, approve suggestions at each stage of pre-production. We also were aware of the timing and were sure that each step is made on time and according to schedule. The setting for video shooting was provided by the vendor from scratch (interior, costumes, decorations etc.). The end project is set of one longer video, with separate scenes and characters, and 10 small videos that tell a story of each character from a longer version. The quality of picture is amazing, it looks like professional TV series.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

The communication was regular and very productive. BangBang made sure each important step is discussed and approved with us. They cared about the product image and were very attentive to details. On a post-production stage we had a chance to see different options of color, sound and visual effects to choose the best one. BangBang suggested to make presentation for the team so that we had different feedbacks and could finalize the project considering each and every feedback that could have an impact.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After several months of campaign with the use of the videos produced by BangBang, we've noticed great results in terms of brand awareness. The brand lift was 9% which is more than average for the industry. And the brand awareness increased by 4 percent in our market. We've also received positive feedback from those who saw the video. It certainly created positive brand image for our product.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very clear. We were aware of each stage of preparation and production and had deadlines for each step of the project implementation. We were informed in advance if any changes occurred and had an opportunity to influence the process, making our suggestions on workflow and schedules.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive is BangBang's professionalism and how dedicated they are to what they do. They really went the extra mile to implement our project and make it extraordinary. Their team is chock-full of genius ideas. And they never stop improving so that the final video was perfect.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is no limit for perfection, of course, however we haven't noticed anything that desperately needs improvement. The process of video creation always takes time and efforts, but the quality is worth it and we were aware of the fact that high quality product can't be produced in a week or two.

How did you select this vendor?

Our colleagues previously worked with this company, and recommended it as the best in terms of the ratio of style and quality of work. An important point was their pricing; it was three times less than usual in Paris. We trusted them and did not regret it.
