The AZinec team delivered excellent front- and backend deliverables, demonstrating their expertize and highly educated background. They were punctual, reliable, and hard-working throughout the process, maintaining excellent communication at all times.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the former COO of a headhunting service.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with AZinec?

We needed help with development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided help with JavaScript technologies for both front- and backend development. They developed the features and generally took care of everything. We started with a discovery phase and they worked on the features from scratch, always fixing bugs quickly as well.

What is the team composition?

There were 5–6 people and a project manager. We weren’t in close contact with the developers.

How did you come to work with AZinec?

We were in a co-working office and met each other there.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between April 2016–June 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I was quite impressed by them. They delivered what they promised and were above average compared to other agencies. They have a deep knowledge in JavaScript and the developers are well educated.

How did AZinec perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was good. They were very honest, hard-working, and punctual. If they said a developer was senior level, they were and they didn’t use junior developers and sell them as senior; they were above average. Sometimes we had a couple of Skype calls with the developers to provide some clarification on certain issues.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The project manager communicated clearly and always did what he said, also participating in our daily standups. If there was ever a delay, it was communicated properly and transparently.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their people are too good, so we were always afraid that other companies would seek to employ them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give them a try and they will work hard.

Thanks to AZinec’s ability to work on a live system, the awards program has continued throughout development. Their focus on building authentic relationships with their clients is notable, as is their constant availability. Customers can expect a committed and knowledgeable partner.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m one of the co-founders of Global Startup Awards, the world’s largest independent startup ecosystem competition. We are running this competition in 63 countries now, and it’s growing fast. We have a mission to find and connect so-called future shapers from all over the world.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with AZinec?

We started the competition 6–7 years ago. From the beginning, we’ve been using third-party solutions to manage the competition itself, but we’ve had some issues with that approach. We’ve never found one single solution that could really match our needs. We decided to develop our own system and needed someone to help us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re developing the whole IT background and framework for the competition. At the beginning of our competition, anyone can nominate anyone for any category in any participating country. Anyone who gets nominated has to proactively approve that they want to be part of the competition. Moving forward, we create shortlists and then a list of national finalists. At the national level, we combine public voting (through social media integrations like Facebook and Instagram) with jury voting, who have very specific access to our system. An algorithm combines these two measures.

AZinec is developing all of that. We’re also going to have add-on functionalities that we’ll start developing in 2020. They use JavaScript and other technologies. What I really enjoy is looking at it as a black box. We just tell them what we want, and I don’t care what technologies they use to make it happen as long as it works.

What is the team composition?

There’s one main point of contact.

How did you come to work with AZinec?

We met through another company that we work with. AZinec approached us because they knew we had a connection to a lot of companies. They asked us to make introductions for them and I told them that I didn’t have time for it. They were persistent but in a nice way. They’re really nice people and always paid for the coffee that I love. At one point, I said I’d give them a try.

One of our companies is a recruitment agency and some of the other companies started working with them. The ones who did are still working with them and speak really highly about them. When we came to the point to do our own development, it wasn’t a question as to who we’d work with. They were the best choice for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $25,000-$30,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2019, and the work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’re very good-hearted people and take things personally, but in a good way. They’re friends, and it’s super important to me that it’s not a dry, empty vendor cooperation because we need them advising us on stuff as well. Because we don’t know too much about software development, we really needed someone who could support us and who we could trust to make the best decisions for us. We fully rely on their advice, and we don’t question their suggestions. So far, it’s been working out really well.

It’s been a positive experience. The product still has some bugs, but we decided to develop it on the go. It’s risky to do it this way, but we couldn’t stop the competition for a year just to get the system running. AZinec always fixes bugs when they appear, and I don’t think anyone could do a better job.

How did AZinec perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is really good. They deliver on time and allocate additional resources if needed without complaining. We have a very trusting relationship and have known each other for a few years. If something doesn’t work in the middle of the night, they fix it. Sometimes one of their founders will jump in and take care of it if it’s really urgent. That’s only happened once but when it did, we could rely on them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What I really like about them is how we have a single point of contact. There’s always someone we can talk to. It’s very important to me to cooperate with someone who offers meaningful, human cooperation and not just a vendor relationship. They have feelings for the product and for us. They care about what they do. I also appreciate that they don’t pretend they can do things that they can’t.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The whole journey we have with them is a series of iterations since we didn’t have proper specifications at the outset. We’re building the product together, so there have been mistakes, but they’re common mistakes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Talk to them. All their personal values will come through.

Their highly responsive team produces work that’s thoroughly tested before it is deployed. AZinec is always easy to reach for addressing any questions or concerns. They could improve on testing for SEO as well, though.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Wuuff, a pet matching platform.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with AZinec?

We don’t have an onsite development team and needed to outsource the development of our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AZinec developed our web platform using Node.js and React. They took over from another company that I originally started working with and handled all the front- and backend development. They didn’t do any graphic design, however.

What is the team composition?

My main contact person is the project manager. There were three developers involved on and off and a person responsible for testing.

How did you come to work with AZinec?

A friend referred them to me.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over $100,000 so far on this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2017, and the collaboration is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

More than 2.5 years ago we only had an MVP, since then we added many additional features and grew our customer base. While the design was provided by another company, AZinec brought it to life.

How did AZinec perform from a project management standpoint?

They shine the most with project management. AZinec is extremely responsive and it’s very easy to get a hold of them. There’s almost never a bad time to ask a question or to jump on a conference call with their team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

AZinec assigned a dedicated tester that’s always available and makes sure all the development work is thoroughly tested before it’s released.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We could’ve set guidelines for the testing and releases that concern SEO. This is probably typical for most development teams that don’t focus on SEO, though.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If SEO is important to your project, set standards and guidelines for this as well.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We needed a partner who could augment our staff in various different positions.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have numerous projects for third-party partners that we need additional staff for that we can’t fill with our internal team. AZinec mainly supplies senior PHP developers with strong skills, but they also augment various other positions and work on multiple different projects.

What is the team composition?

They provide four PHP engineers, a QA specialist, and a scrum master.

How did you come to work with AZinec?

Our attention was brought to AZinec by one of the owner's personal contact. We interviewed 19 PHP engineers, two QA specialists, and six scrum masters in order to build the team we currently have.

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership started in November 2017, and the work is ongoing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The interview process could've been more synchronized and streamlined, but it worked out.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Autto, a workflow automation platform targeted at lawyers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with AZinec?

We were looking to outsource development work, to reduce costs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They started out building the proof of concept for our product, when we were still in our early stages as a startup. Then, we moved on to having a mixed team of in house and outsourced AZinec team members. Next, we moved to build our production platform in partnership with them, which we launched earlier this year. Now, we moved to the next stage of our relationship, which is continuing that arrangement as we continue to sell the product: we also want to continue customer-driven product development.

This is primarily a JavaScript product project. The system has a Node.js backend, MongoDB as a database, and an AngularJS frontend.

What is the team composition?

We have three developers, two testers, and a project manager working with us.

How did you come to work with AZinec?

Their agency has connections in Budapest, Hungary,  and my technical co-founder & CTO is Hungarian. The team was introduced to us through our connections in Budapest.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested approximately $250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in April 2017, and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We brought our product to market for a very low investment, which we can attribute to our collaboration with AZinec. Both sides have worked very well together and we’re working to improve our process.

How did AZinec perform from a project management standpoint?

We run an agile methodology, currently. We've also used Kanban and sprint-based methods. We use Trello, Slack, and video-conferencing as project technologies. Additionally, we have weekly planning meetings, daily standups, feature briefings at the end of each development, regular development reviews, and face-to-face meetings with the developers.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve done a great job, in terms of developer recruitment. We haven’t had any problems with the quality of developers that have been allocated to us; they’ve been good, experienced, and produce good code.

Obviously, one of the challenges of working with an offshore company is efficient communication. AZinec has worked proactively to ensure that our communication improves continuously.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think we could have pushed some communications frameworks sooner. As far as I’m concerned, we’ve done very well in our partnership.
