I am the VP Technology of a midsize oil and gas operator.

For what projects/services did your company hire Avidclan Technologies, and what were your goals?

Avidclan was engaged to build out a sophisticated web application to interface with various databases and provide both production and economic forecasts.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

In the process of selecting a contractor, we used all tools at our disposable including interviewing locally, online placement specialists, and drawing on industry contacts for recommendations. Ultimately Avidclan was selected for their knowledge, flexibility, and ease to work with.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The project was the full implementation of a engineering web application for the oil and gas industry. The project was comprised of 5 modules: database management, forecasting, geo mapping, type curve generation, and economics.

Though the deliverables are too numerous to list, some of the key products include simplified database manipulation, bubble mapping, interactive plots (point selection), and responsive filtering/sorting of large object sets. Technologies employed include ASP.NET, HTML, Javascript, and JQuery.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

3 worked with 3 individuals, 1 frontend web designer and 2 backend programmers.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We started using the various modules they became available and found that we were able to improve both engagement and cross disciplinary collaboration. As time has gone on, we have found the software to be an enabler for tackling problems that we wouldn't have had the manpower to in the past.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Project management and communication has taken place through a combination of email, working documents (powerpoint/spreadsheets), and morning meetings. We have found Avidclan to be exceptional overall.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Though Avidclan is able to clearly demonstrate their progress, provide detailed updates, and provide flexibility in their schedules, I felt that their largest asset is their personalities. We found them easy-going and pleasant to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Early on, it took us time to find the most effective way to document and share bugs. I think this was primarily a consequence of the complexity of the project as things now are both efficient and prompt.
