Self Made Academy - Football Training App
About SMA:
With a 52-week long development plan customized to your age and requirements, Self Made Academy helps you take your football skills to a whole new level. The app enables you to monitor your progress via different tests and allows you to market your prowess as a footballer among other associations, scouts, and clubs! All are made simple, organized, and convenient through the app.
Client Challenge:
The client needed us to create an engaging platform by automating the process of player training and performance evaluation to make the app experience as smooth as possible. With the high frequency of users, it would become tedious to update and maintain logs and provide feedback manually.
Technologies:
Frontend: Angular, Flutter
Backend: Spring Boot
Database: MongoDB
Authentication: OAuth2.0
Container Orchestration: AWS ECS
Mobile Applications: Flutter (iOS and Android)
Web Application: Angular
Solution Offering:
Using Flutter, we integrated all new features into a seamless and user-friendly experience for both players and managers alike. Since SMA is all about football training and clubs, another anticipated challenge would include Backend development to construct an administrative portal that maintains each player’s timeline to take their training in a defined time window via Spring Boot. The team used Firebase cloud messaging for push notifications to ensure that players don’t miss out on their training. Unlike older cross-platform solutions, building with Flutter resulted in a fully native app-store installable app. With Flutter, the updates to the core app functionality allow both iOS and Android platforms to receive the benefits of new features and bug fixes while only requiring a singular codebase to be updated.
Client Testimonial:
"We are incredibly pleased with our collaboration with Aurora Solutions, we have received a good product, and their technical capabilities are above expectations.”
(Hamid Kabodvand - CEO and Founder At SMA)

Score - Sport Management App
About Score:
Score is a Football Club Management software. The mobile tool allows users and business partners great exposure opportunities year around. Users also gain access to club knowledge by seeing stats on business value in the partner network.
Client Challenge:
The application required building new features and ensuring the best performance on both Android and iOS.The engineers were required to dive and revamp workflows, by introducing proper coding protocols and methodologies to cater to any previously lost quality. Major debugging was needed because the system previously lacked logging. New layers on Authorization were also needed in addition to Kubernetes implementation.
Technologies:
Backend: Passport JS & PostgreSQL RLS, NodeJS, PostgreSQL
Frontend: ReactJS, Redux, React Apollo, Bootstrap, Swift, Kotlin
Solution Offering:
Never Offside has a number of projects in the pipeline, all built around the exhilarating world of football. We took on the task of building the mobile app features in Flutter. Filled in gaps in state-level documentation and code works deployment, there was a requirement for skilled engineers to jump in and take over upcoming features, debugging, and maintenance of Score.
The underlying Frontend framework for the application is ReactJS and we used Redux for state management. Database query management was handled in React-Apollo. The UI framework used was Bootstrap. The mobile applications have been built in Swift for iOS and in Kotlin for Android.
The engineers took on the challenge of debugging the system and delivered better-optimized health and carried out detailed QA on the system
Client Testimonial:
“I was quite impressed with the quality of output, especially in terms of dexterity in Flutter for developing the Mobile App features. The team came in with a holistic project plan enabling the project to grow as a whole.”
(Dan Fröjd - Produktägare Never Offside AB : Score)

Capture - Sustainability App
About Capture:
Capture is your pocket-pal helping you keep track of your climate footprint from everyday mobility choices, offsetting through forestry planting around the world. Keeping up with your carbon footprint on a daily basis would then allow you to explore the options Capture provides, to help you work through offsetting it.
Technologies:
Frontend: Flutter, Kotlin, Swift
Backend: Nodejs, TypeScript
Firebase: Crashlytics, Firestore, Cloud Messaging
Client Challenge:
With only two months to soft-launch, Capture needed to be built from the ground up. It was to be a standing challenge to ensure meticulously crafted features using GPS-tracking to predict journey time and journey mode with great accuracy. Ensuring a smooth user-friendly experience was also to remain a top priority.
Solution Offering:
The development team focused on UI flows and built expansive Backend functionality to be ready to incorporate screen implementation as and when the design was ready and provided by the third party team simultaneously tasked with the same.
Some of the detailed features required would include accurate location tracking with the twist of accurate recognition of mode of transport. This would need to be carefully pegged against multiple variables to execute the most accurate calculations. A lot of minute testing was to go into this at the development stage itself, before the post-code QA.
Client Testimonial:
"Owing to the challenging conditions of this project, I honestly did not expect the team to be able to pull this off within only two months and was partially preparing myself to expect to push the date forward, but I was more than pleasantly surprised to witness the team’s progress in effectively managing the targets and assiduously taking the challenges head-on. They were very professional and easy to work with, owing to their proficiency and finesse."
(Abdul Aziz - Co-founder & CTO Capture)

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am CTO of Stakater, and our mission is to provide professional tools and services to help customers create and manage their Kubernetes-based infrastructure effortlessly.
For what projects/services did your company hire Aurora Solutions, and what were your goals?
To build a top-grade set of tools and open source initiatives for the DevSecOps community and manage multiple server environments for different teams and audiences, configuration, and environment management. We needed a team of professionals to bootstrap infrastructure automation to deliver fundamentally top services to our customers.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We did our research, and there were not many agencies that were working in this domain. Then we got in touch with Aurora Solutions & their open source work in the field helped us make the decision.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We provided the team with the initial roadmap, which included managing multiple server environments for different groups and audiences, configuration building various automated tools and controllers, and environment management. Initially, the team created small but functional open source solutions that any company could plug and play in their workflow.
Currently, the team at Aurora Solutions provides built-in support for various cloud vendors and DevOps tools to cater to the particular needs of any development or Ops team that uses it.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We have eight full-time engineers working with us from Aurora Solutions. They range from junior DevOps engineers to senior Platform Engineers. We are also looking to add an Engineering Manager to the team from Aurora Solutions.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Starting with a few open source solutions, we are now successfully helping enterprises in Kubernetes infrastructure management with our services models. The enormous credit goes to Aurora Solutions. We have partnered with clients large and small across the globe, and we are continuously growing, making our mark in the DevOps Industry.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We had bi-weekly standups with the project manager, who communicated with the rest of the team. The deliverables were very well-planned, keeping in mind the timeline. I want to highlight how honestly they used to inform us about any delays beforehand. The team was quick to learn new technologies, which ultimately led to our products’ success.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The aptitude with which they cater to modifications and ensure that their engineers are well aware of the new tech makes them stand out from other organizations.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
This is probably not something that Aurora Solutions could directly improve, but it has been challenging to hire skilled resources. It is perhaps down to the fact that the latest technologies we work on and the domain make the resource pool small.

Development, QA and Support for Billing Platform
“They were very professional, thorough, and proactive in identifying risks and matching customers.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a former senior director of engineering for a billing platform in Java.
What challenge were you trying to address with Aurora Solutions?
We needed a team to help us extend our platform and support various clients.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We had several features and integrations with other systems to add. They did both feature development and implementation work and were involved in the full length of the life cycle. We have more than one location, and each area had ownership in their own requirement gathering, design, implementation, tests, and the deployment and integration with customers. If we had a big deployment to a large customer, we had prompts to support those clients, so they helped with a few projects.
What is the team composition?
So we had a project manager and two team leads. Each team lead managed a team of two developers and a QA specialist. We interacted mostly with the project manager and the two leads.
How did you come to work with Aurora Solutions?
They started working with the company before I did.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $300,000–$400,000 a year on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from about March 2013–September 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
One of their leads managed a large customer for us, which represented about 25% of our revenue. They did the initial implementation, followed by a long set of improvements and enhancements and support.
How did Aurora Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
We had three project managers throughout our relationship. They were very professional, thorough, and proactive in identifying risks and matching customers. They had the right personality for our tougher customers and kept everyone happy. We used Jira for tracking issues and had a chart overlay with weekly status reports.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We could trust them to complete the tasks as we wanted them. They took control of the work but always came to us with any questions. They stayed on track and were much easier to manage than some of my other vendors.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have any areas of improvement for them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
This is fairly generic, but make sure your projects are self-contained. Let them have ownership of their work; that will save you time.
In large part due to Aurora Solutions' support, the client has grown from providing open-source solutions to helping manage enterprise-level Kubernetes infrastructure globally. They communicated well via bi-weekly standups, and all deliverables were completed in a timely manner.
