The platform had to allow for the identification of subjects across hundreds of thousands of videos without overwhelming the user with too much data

How did you select this vendor?

I interviewed 10 developers, shortlisted the top three then asked the top three candidates to spend 8 hours developing a single page. The developers were graded on quality of deliverable and communicaiton/synergy.

AttractGroup came out on top because of not only their high quality, but their unique mix of highly intelligent programmers who asked the right questions/gave the right suggestions, but also because of their great project manager who was very proactive and delivered milestones which were accurate, logical and which gave me confidence in their ability to deliver the project

They took the UI/UX design I provided to them tand identified errors in the design, created a milestones from that design, and delivered a Django frontend based on those milestones

What was the team composition?

Unlike when I hire freelancers, when I hire a s/w development company I prefer not to know how the company works. All that matters to me is that either:

  1. there is a good project manager to ensure the project succeeds
  2. there is a good programmer which I can communicate to (most programmers are terrible at expressing their ideas in a meaningful way)

Their PM was very good at making sure the milestones were delivered on time

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

I liked the synergy their PM had with their lead s/w architect: The architect was a brilliant guy who would identify problems but the PM was a likeable guy who relayed those concerns in a less aggressive way than most programmers would do. I find this is all s/w consulting agencies need to do: have friendly people on the front and less social, but more experienced, coders in the background

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

As I said before, there was one main PM and most of the communication was through him. All milestones and budgeting were done through spreadsheets. I especially liked that they matched the budget to the milestones.

As a Prime Contractor, I become very uncomfortable when my subcontractors give me vague quotes for seemingly no reason (ie. based on a 7 hour work week, lump sum fo travel/accomodation, etc.)

What did you find most impressive about this company?

In order of importance:

  1. They went through every single wireframe and identified every single issue even before being paid. I thought this showed integrity.
  2. That they went through every single wireframe and matched the milestones and thus the budget to those wireframes, thereby ensuring the quote was meaningful to me
  3. the high quality of work

Are there any areas for improvement?

My scope was very limitted so I cannot comment on other areas like UI/UX design, API design, s/w development etc.

We researched local vendors, and Attract Group proved to be the most relevant option.

The portal features a personal account for internet customers where they can choose tariffs and pay online. It also has a CRM system where a point of connection can be added, data can be edited, multiple addresses can be assigned to one user, and internet speed can be monitored and regulated. We also use NAS as a gateway between users and the Radius server to either reject a user and deny them network access or accept the user and let them onto the network.

We’re working with a backend development team.

The project is still in progress, but the MVP we received complies with our requirements completely.

We needed to build a tool similar to LinkedIn for people working in the entertainment industry. It targeted sound and lighting engineers and other specialists. We wanted to create a tool that would allow teams to communicate and give managers access to team members’ conversations.

The documentation we provided could have been more specific, but it was detailed enough to develop an estimate and work plans. PHP was the main language. One of the functionalities was a wall, similar to that of Facebook. Instead of news and posts, it was used for teams and clients to communicate. All files and conversations were saved there, and the team lead was able to keep an eye on each one, even in the case of multiple teams.

We worked with four people from their team: designers, developers, and the owner of the company who served as the project manager.

Attract Group was great. We communicated daily which happens when developing software. There were always changes to make. It was a big challenge. We used Skype for communication.

Their code quality was absolutely outstanding. A couple other developers checked it and said that Attract Group’s code was well-made.

At the time, one of their developers didn’t have good English skills, but I’m sure they’ve managed this tiny communication issue since then.

At the start of the engagement, we provided specific wireframes. We’re a direct sales organization with a fairly complex multi-level commissions structure. It’s not a typical e-commerce business. We provided them with insight and brought them up to speed on some of the nuances of this industry. Since then, they’ve been able to take ownership and initiative.

The CRM system allows us to have a complete control over the company’s business processes, especially those in the sales department. In that section, we can see all the leads coming in from different landing pages and the site. The development team also integrate VOIP telephony, based on Twilio.

The CRM allows us to keep and manage all of the financial aspects of our company in one location. It also produces many kinds of reports, which helps u stay on top of all sorts of important business processes/events. Our analysts have access to sales and financials, current entities' statuses, calls, SMS, and marketing information.
