In the first deck to explain the current state vs ideal state we aligned on what the goals and objectives would be. After understanding the limitations we face in technical SEO especially, we aligned on the tasks we can undertake and those that we cannot (and would need to defer to our developer and incur budget spend). We could never have Art & Science handle content creation for us, so their approach was more technical in SEO and from AIO.

Stats in GA4 to reflect traffic organic traffic on the site; showing up in LLMs/AIO and keyword growth.

Adam was responsive to emails and communication and there were at times delays on both ends to some emails here and there, but generally communnication flowed. Mid way through the contract we did do a check in on outstanding deliverables, and again, there were sometimes delays on both ends.

I liked the ease of building a professional relationship with Art & Science to kick things off and keep working together.

In hindsight, an off boarding checklist would have been beneficial to align on what was done, completed and incompleted. With so much going on and relying so much on email, it would have been great to include a summary one pager of what did get completed and what didn't. In hindsight this could serve as a great opportunity to understand if items from the original scope were outstanding and also serve as an opportunity to inquire about contract extension if applicable.

This has improved our ability to measure results, identify opportunities, and make faster, data-driven decisions.

The project management was excellent. We had a detailed project plan with milestones tied to dates. The project was delivered on time and they responded to our needs with care.

I’m the director of the Gay Men’s Sexual Health Alliance, a network of organizations in Ontario that supports and strengthens sexual health and HIV services for cis- and trans-gender gay, bisexual, queer, two-spirit, and other men who have sex with men.

What challenge were you trying to address with Art & Science?

We initially contracted Art & Science to consolidate campaign websites and our main website into a unified platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Art & Science has built a new website that houses the content from our original site and three campaign sites. The team has redirected the URLs from the various campaign site pages to the new platform. Art & Science has also suggested and implemented an AI-based chatbot that mines content from our main site so that users can engage with the content in a newer, more intuitive way. The team has developed a geolocated resource finder and a tool that translates the site into six languages to make our content more accessible to communities facing a greater need for this crucial information.Art & Science has also provided consulting services for our upcoming campaign “If No One Ever Told You, We Will (with love).” The team has guided our campaign strategy and created digital assets for our social media and web advertisements.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Art & Science in January 2025, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been able to take content that resided on different platforms and consolidate it under a unified platform. Art & Science has refreshed the design and positioning and added tools like the chatbot, resource finder, and translation in a fraction of the time it has historically taken us to develop a campaign or website. I attribute this in large part to the team’s responsiveness, skill at quantifying realistic timeframes, and excellent communication and project management abilities. The fact that we’ve developed trust and a shorthand with each other has helped as well.Although we haven’t launched the site yet, I already know that bringing our various resources under one banner and making them more accessible through translation and the chatbot will better meet the needs of the community we serve.

Our alliance members who have tested the site say that it will save them time and facilitate the referrals they make to community members. They also like that having the site available in different languages will facilitate their outreach work. They also love that the site looks and feels like it comes from the community.

Most of the sites had previously been designed and built by them. They were able to speak to not only what our needs were, but also how the online landscape had been shifting and was expected to shift - how people access information differently today, how it's crucial that our work be seen as trustworthy in a landscape where a lot of misinformation is out there. They were able to suggest ways of positioning our content so that it's perceived as valuable and relevant, and where the communities the GMSH serves can see their lives and experiences reflected. They've since become trusted advisors on our brand and how we project our message to the community.

How did Art & Science perform from a project management standpoint?

Art & Science’s project management is exceptional. The team delivers on time and helps us keep on schedule. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve been able to develop trust through having difficult conversations. The fact that Art & Science has worked with us before has given them a deep knowledge of our work, how we speak, and what our values are. We’re very aligned. I’m clear about what we need and when, and the team is equally clear about what they need from me and my team to make that happen. I have great confidence in Art & Science. They’re responsive, accountable, and fun to work with.

The Gay Men's Sexual Health Alliance of Ontario is a network organization funded by the Ministry of Health. We work with 30 other groups around the province to develop social marketing campaigns, generally related to sexual health. We develop programs and services, participate in research projects, and do a lot of training around the province on topics relevant to gay men's health. I am the acting director of the organization.

What challenge were you trying to address with Art & Science?

The project involved a website which had been launched in 2011. We needed to reinvent it. The page was old, outdated, and not user-friendly or adaptable.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Art & Science redeveloped our campaign, including all aspects of production, marketing, and creative assets. Working with 30 organizations and trying to reach a consensus can be difficult. There were many moving pieces in our project, but Art & Science was very accommodating and put up with a lot from us.

How did you come to work with Art & Science?

We put forth an RFP [request for proposal], interviewed three agencies, and went with Art & Science. They came in with a good understanding of who we were and what we were looking for, which resonated with our group. We were impressed with the work examples from Art & Science, and they were able to sell us on what was being offered. At the end of the day, it was a combination of things which led to our decision. Art & Science laid out a proposal of how they would be working and what our involvement would be in the process, which didn't leave us with many questions. We've been happy with the decision.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Art & Science in the spring of 2015. The campaign launched on January 23rd. We continue building out our campaign with Art & Science. We develop a new one every two years, so I anticipate that we will continue to work with Art & Science in the foreseeable future.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The quality of Art & Science's work was top-notch. Their group gets it right the first time in most cases, and they've done an incredible amount of research on their own. They became informed about the various topics they were speaking to and designing assets for. I feel that this is not typical when working with agencies like Art & Science. Their work is innovative and unlike anything else produced in Canada, not just in Ontario. I don't have enough good things to say about Art & Science.

How did Art & Science perform from a project management standpoint?

Art & Science's performance was not outstanding, but they certainly handled project management well. Considering what we were asking for, and the number of moving parts, the project was handled well. There are things which could have been done better to have a smoother process. Any time an element was served off base, all it required was an additional conversation to get it fixed.

What did you find most impressive about Art & Science?

Art & Science is a creative group. They not only come up with good ideas but also provide the execution for those elements. Art & Science can deliver big-picture thinking, and they also got us to think outside of the box, which resulted in a more impactful campaign which generated attention all over the world.

Are there any areas Art & Science could improve?

Apart from a couple of project management pieces, Art & Science has been a solid, open and easy-to-work-with company. They always kept in mind the goals and scope of the project, bringing us back into that space as well, whenever we deviated into places which we weren't able to achieve. We wouldn't hesitate to work with Art & Science again and have referred other people to Art & Science.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The caliber of creative ideas and brainstorming that transpired during our initial discovery call - even before any "work" had begun, the ideas were flying around during conversation. We could feel their passion and excitement for our brand and our story. Also, they're really awesome people - the A&S team members we had the opportunity to work with were all approachable, incredibly knowledgeable and proficient in their specific fields.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Art & Science could have done differently?

For our particular project, we didn't meet all the goals we sent out to achieve. There were several obstacles outside of all our control which hindered the full success of our project. Art & Science provided us with great creative and a media strategy that would have performed very well, if we had not encountered so many unexpected road blocks along the way. In the end, timing was not on our side, and we did not have the budget to continue testing.

I'm the head of marketing at a real estate association. We're a provincial association that represents under 100,000 realtors.

What challenge were you trying to address with Art & Science?

We shifted our business offering in the last three years, so our website no longer addressed our services. We needed to bring it up to date.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Art & Science revamped our entire website. We initially provided them with our existing brand guidelines, but we asked them to be creative in the way they things were displayed. They ran with that and came up with a design that aligned with our brand standards. They used Figma for the design.

Additionally, we asked them to do an upfront strategy. Art & Science did a thorough research and development phase and helped us organize all of our content to address the needs of our realtors.

What is the team composition?

We worked regularly with 1–4 team members, depending on the phase. We also had a project manager from start to finish.

How did you come to work with Art & Science?

We put an RFP out, and they responded. After interviewing them, we decided to award them the work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from June 2021–January 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We launched a month ago, so it’s a bit soon to provide any metrics. However, the feedback from our staff members and the board of directors has been very positive. Also, the launch went smoothly.

How did Art & Science perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was excellent. Art & Science missed some things while coming on board, but that was expected. We saw some turnover with the project manager, but it wasn’t their fault, and they did their absolute best to catch up as fast as possible.

They delivered on time and never missed a deadline. They were also upfront when things were out of scope or we’d need additional budgeting. Overall, the team was very communicative; they never tried to hide anything or slip in additional work.

We regularly met with their project manager. Depending on the phase, we had 1–3 check-in meetings. We communicated via email to stay up to date, and they were effective in keeping everyone on track and organized.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Art & Science nailed the project; they did a great job.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their designer could’ve been more bold. They were pretty conservative in the first draft they sent us. We often had to encourage them to think outside the box and spice things up.

I’m the marketing manager at TERRA Greenhouses, a gardening store in Ontario with five locations and an online store.

We had been working with a different digital marketing company for quite some time. However, they weren’t providing any innovations for us, and we felt that our web presence needed to be upgraded. We saw other opportunities to get our name out there for new customers, but our previous company wasn’t able to grasp those opportunities for us, so we decided to hire Art & Science.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Art & Science has helped us with various aspects of our marketing. We wanted to revamp our marketing efforts and use our budget to the best of our abilities, so they’ve helped us create a new digital marketing strategy for our campaigns.

Initially, Art & Science helped us with email marketing and other more traditional marketing campaigns, such as print marketing, newspaper ads, and radio ads. We’ve also done some billboards, and of course, they ongoingly handle all of our social media marketing and create and manage our Google Ads.

We work with Adam (VP & Partner), a project manager, and two people from their digital creation team. We’re going to start working on a web development project, so we will also work with other people from that team.

How did you come to work with Art & Science?

One of our employees in our marketing team knows the owner of Art & Science from school, so this person referred us to them. Still, when we were looking for a vendor, we interviewed multiple people to get a feel of what they could provide. When we interviewed Art & Science, we decided to go with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $80,000 CAD (approximately $62,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Art & Science has helped us rank higher on Google search results for specific terms, and we now generally appear in the top three results of our category. We’re very happy with that result because we’re competing with other companies that are paying a lot of money for ads. Additionally, we’re continuously making sales through Facebook and Instagram ads, something in which we weren’t having success before working with them.

Thanks to Art & Science’s work, we’ve also seen an increase in our social media followers. Whenever we place ads on social media, we get a fair amount of engagement, and we’ve seen an increase in our website visits as a result.

How did Art & Science perform from a project management standpoint?

Art & Science has been very good at managing the project. They communicate with us anytime they have new suggestions, such as increasing our budget for certain projects or seasons. They’re also very open and honest with us if they need more hours. For example, if we request additional work, they let us know when that additional work will take more time than budgeted so that we can decide how to proceed.

Additionally, Art & Science constantly stays on top of projects and follows up on both sides. We don’t use project management tools; we usually work directly with our project manager and communicate with them through emails and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Art & Science’s main strength is keeping constant communication with us. Our business constantly changes because we sell live plants and flowers, and the way we sell our products has also changed due to the pandemic.

What worked well for us five years ago is not the same anymore, so we’re learning on the go. Still, Art & Science communicates with us very clearly, suggests new ideas, and sees what works well for other clients to bring it to our table.

Additionally, Art & Science listens to us very well. Whenever we communicate our challenges and needs, they listen, reiterate those comments, and come back with a plan so that we can decide how to move forward.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any constructive feedback for them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open and honest with them if you’re unhappy with something or you don’t understand what they’re proposing. At the end of the day, Art & Science is using your money in your best interests, so if you think that something they propose won’t work well for your clientele, just say it.
