IMC complete rebranding

IMC is one of the top-10 agricultural companies in Ukraine. In May 2011, the company conducted an IPO on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The business has exhibited dynamic growth and rapid expansion into new international markets. In 2017, IMC marked its 10th anniversary. To celebrate, the company embarked on a rebranding process to reflect a new vision: to become the leading agricultural company in the world for investors,

employees, clients and the community. The rebranding had to reflect the company’s innovation and new strategy while incorporating its updated name: IMC Innovations + Management + Commitment. We created market positioning based on the new brand strategy and statement that “IMC is an innovator in the farm business.” The brand identity had to express the company’s leading position and its approach to managing a business while respecting people and the land. Our main challenge was to create an image that reflected both revolutionary agricultural technologies and the strong tradition of Ukrainian farming. The stylized ancient Slavic sign of fertile land — a rhombus with a dot in the centre — became the main graphic element of the new logo design. This “target” sign also symbolizes precise farming — the advanced method in this industry. The dark blue and red colours are reminiscent of the traditional Ukrainian colour scheme of black and red; the bright yellow-green complements the two main colours and creates a dynamic combination for brand identity. We developed a brand book with detailed descriptions of how to use the elements of the new IMC corporate style for the company’s documents, brochure design, machinery, interior design, professional clothing, outdoor advertising, souvenir items and web design. The brand elements created a dynamic, modern visual presentation for IMC and reflected its new philosophy.

The RuptureSeal™ Image

The RuptureSeal™

RuptureSeal™ is a line of products designed to easily affect the stoppage and cleanup of leaks in commercial, industrial and private enterprises. Employing a recently patented technology, RuptureSeal™ safely seals ruptures and eliminates damage which in turn safeguards the ecosystem thereby protecting lives. To grow the business to bring it to the next level, the company has decided to develop a new positioning strategy and

create a modern brand identity for RuptureSeal™, which had been in the market for several years. Our task was to offer a brand strategy and creative design concept for RuptureSeal™ based on the analysis of the previous business activities and marketing. The clear positioning strategy and modern brand design should help the unique product RuptureSeal™ find the optimal promotional channels to target its audience more effectively and to grow brand recognition in the market. 

We developed a brand positioning strategy and marketing plan for RuptureSeal™ which included complete rebranding of the brand identity design, logo design, product upgrading, a line of packaging designs, stickers, a key image, a new marketing message (STOP A LEAK DRY) and creating three RuptureSeal™ landing pages with a special offer to target industrial segments of the potential markets.

Our design team created a modern and simple two-colours graphic design concept for marketing communication of RuptureSeal™ which uses standard safety colours: orange & black. The packaging design received a unique brand style with minimum information and maximum focus on the product that rapidly and clearly delivers its message. To demonstrate how RuptureSeal™ works, we created a short video for landing pages and social media channels. The product is unique and it was important to have a short video demonstration for effective marketing communication that would increase interest in RuptureSeal™ and will show the simplicity of using the product.

RESTGU™ (Restaurant Staff Guide) Image

RESTGU™ (Restaurant Staff Guide)

RESTGU™ is a new solution for the restaurant business that provides online education, a test and certification. We did research and a 360º marketing analysis before developing the brand strategy for positioning of a new product in the market. The research showed a number of potential competitors in the online restaurant training industry. Our challenge was to create a brand positioning, marketing strategy and brand model that

would allow RESTGU™ to stand out with its innovative approach in the market of educational products. The two RESTGU™ digital platforms — RESTGU™ Guide and RESTGU™ Life Style — needed to complement each other in providing all necessary tools for convenient and productive learning for achieving the RESTGU™ certification.

Based on market research, we developed a brand positioning strategy that focused on target audiences: restaurant managers/owners and restaurant staff and those who wanted to open their own restaurant. “Your Personal Assistant” and “Your Personal Coach” were the two strategies implemented in the marketing plan to represent RESTGU™ as a comprehensive online educational solution. To give the product a personal touch, we created a corporate hero RESTGU™— a cute robot who became the brand identification and communicator of the marketing messages. We developed a corporate style that included logo design, a RESTGU™ Identity Design Guide, posters and brochure design, banners, business cards and a full set of RESTGU™ souvenirs, including a RESTGU™ Certificate design. 

We developed www.restgu.com, a custom web solution for the RESTGU™ Guide where users can register a free Personal cabinet to read the Guide, complete the RESTGU™ Test and receive the RESTGU™ Certificate. www.restguls.com is another custom web platform where restaurateurs can join an international professional network to share their own ideas, recipes, events and experiences. This is a new RESTGU™ social media platform.

I’m the director of municipal services for a municipality for the city of Summerside.

What challenge were you trying to address with Art Fresh, Inc.?

We hired Art Fresh, Inc. to create an infographic video about the electrical restoration capabilities of the electric utilities for the municipality. We wanted everything to be conveyed in a non-technical way so consumers and decision-makers could understand the processes during any emergencies.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

For this video, we used them to produce a script, handle any musical undertones, and produce the video. The videos were 2–3 minutes in length and explained the process of emergency electricity restoration in our city. 

What is the team composition?

Throughout the process, three people were involved in the work and we had direct contact with Elena (CEO, Art Fresh, Inc.). 

How did you come to work with Art Fresh, Inc.?

We’d worked with them through a different department in our organization. I reached out internally to receive recommendations and Art Fresh, Inc. was one that came to us. I liked their previous work, too, so I went to them directly based on those factors. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent under $5,000 on the project. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on the project between May–July 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The end result was a well-honed, finished product that we can use as an educational tool. Everyone that reviewed the final product had only positive words to say about it. All of the senior executives and internal staff gave good feedback on it. We really liked the simplicity and their ability to convert technical concepts into easy-to-understand ideas. 

How did Art Fresh, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management approach was very engaged. There were several iterations throughout the process, with multiple versions and drafts, but they were reactive and accommodating to these changes. They refined everything whenever we needed them to. Their quick turnaround was great—throughout the project we had weekly touchpoints to communicate. Emails, calls, and meetings worked really well for this smaller project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had a great ability to understand what we needed, even though it was a very technical concept. Their team was willing to adapt their approach to meet our desired end results, which not every company can do. They did a good job of vetting our wants and requirements at the start, which helped reduce costs and timelines. They also delivered the final project under the budget they gave us at the start, which was great. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind for them to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Spend a lot of time at the start to make sure everyone understands the expectations for the deliverables. This will save you time down the road and avoid any potential issues. If you change your scope throughout the project, it’ll add stress and time to your process.

IMC is one of the TOP-10 agricultural companies in Ukraine, and is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The company is primarily involved in crop farming (corn, wheat, sunflower, soybean), the storage of grain and oilseed crops, and dairy farming. It operates 123,900 hectares of land located in the prime fertile farming regions of Ukraine (Poltava, Chernihiv, Sumy). The company was founded in 2007.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Art Fresh?

In 2017, our company planned to celebrate its 10th anniversary. At that moment the company’s business had changed significantly compare to the start. In 2007, the company was created as a large dairy farmer with the name “Industrial Milk Company”, but in 2017 it became one of the TOP-5 producers of grain and oilseeds in Ukraine (corn, wheat, sunflower, soybean), and milk production occupied only 3% of the revenue structure. Therefore, it was decided to change the name of the company to IMC, with the name deciphering as Innovation. Management. Commitment (reflecting company’s new positioning), and to launch rebranding process.

Art Fresh involvement in rebranding of the IMC:

  • Development of new corporate style: logotype, colors and brand book with detailed descriptions of how to use the elements of the new IMC corporate style for the company’s documents, brochure design, machinery, interior design, professional clothing, outdoor advertising, souvenir items and web design.

How did you come to work with Art Fresh?

I worked with Elena Herweyer, CEO and Creative Director of Art Fresh, under another project in Ukraine - Cheese Club Corporation (Elena developed corporate style, packaging design, posters, outdoor advertisements etc.). Cheese Club Corporation was one of TOP3 cheese producers and exporters in Ukraine.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started to work in October 2016. The project was completed in April 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

New corporate style developed by Art Fresh for IMC was perceived very positively by company’s employees. IMC’s new corporate style is totally different from what we have on the agricultural market in Ukraine (including international companies – suppliers of inputs, grain traders etc.). IMC staff likes to be a part of innovative modern company and willingly apply IMC’s new corporate style. New brand identity also helps us to attract young professionals to the company which is a part of our HR strategy.

After launch of new corporate style and website in 2017 we also received positive feedback from our investors (IMC is a public company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The majority of our investors are from the European Union).

In addition, in three years after launch of IMC’s new corporate style, we can observe that companies from other sectors (international retail, banks) start to use the same colors combination as IMC in their branding. So, it works, but we were the pioneers in Ukraine! That is, the ideas from Art Fresh are really fresh!

How did Art Fresh perform from a project management standpoint?

Art fresh is very responsive agency. Project time management is at high level as well. Be sure everything will be done on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Art Fresh learned our project and market strategy in order to reach project targets.

They have already been cool! Don’t slow down your international expansion as its your strong competitive advantage.

We are an entirely new skin care line without a brand or logo or any market recognition. We hired Art Fresh to develop a complete marketing package including logo, brand colors and other aspects of the brand identity. As we were unknown in the marketplace we hired Art Fresh to develop and look after our social media marketing.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to establish a brand that would be recognized as a premium quality skin care line and develop brand awareness while starting to generate revenues for the company.

How did you select this vendor?

I was familiar with the company and its owner when they developed a highly successful brand identity for another company that I was involved with.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The first step was the development of a logo and brand colours which merged the concepts of premium quality, clinical grade but value-sensitive to to the average consumer. The brand colours, logo and fonts were successfully test marketed until a high quality brand was developed.

Labels and packaging were then designed by Art Fresh to capture the brand image. Art Fresh, also sourced out a company to look after the box production. Art Fresh, then took the branding concepts and developed a social media marketing strategy including the development of the assets that were to be used.

What was the team composition?

The team consisted of myself as a CEO for Trillium Skincare Laboratories Inc. and the team at Art Fresh.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We are at the early stage of commercialization with an online platform and a few select bricks-and-mortar locations. The response has been exceptional to both the products themselves and the Imaging developed byArt Fresh. While it is too early to measure commercial success, we anticipate that the Trillium Skincare care line will become a recognized brand in the next 24 months.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The two key contacts were myself and Elena at Art Fresh. We exchanged emails daily and met regularly to exchange ideas and opinions. As we are small company, this methodology work the best as we were both the decision-makers for the project. This work quite well and expediated entire process.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their creativity and their understanding of the Skin Care sector set them apart. They had a practical background and were familiar with the elements that make branding in this sector successful.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I suspect that every company is open to improvement however, we were quite satisfied with this project. As an added service, I might recommend that they add translation services so that they can undertake the bilingual aspects of labeling directly, as opposed to us having to go to a third party.

I wanted the book cover to draw attention through colour, visuals and words - clearly reflecting the content between the pages. The handbook primarily targets arts administrators and artists but also community builders and those who benefit from arts sector partnerships. The book cover design is critical to reaching all audiences.

How did you select this vendor?

I have been aware of Art Fresh's work through social media and their website. I know the owner, like her approach to her (and her team's) work so made the initial outreach to discuss the opportunity to work together.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

I reached out to the company to set up an initial meeting to discuss my project. My contact was Elena, Art Fresh owner. In advance of our meeting I shared information about the project based on questions Elena posed to me. I did my own research to discover the impact of colour and book design in general, coming into the conversation well-informed. Elena helped me to further articulate ideas and messaging that would translate into the book design. She transformed all information into a perfectly-suited combination, closely reflecting my initial intention for look and feel of the cover. With very few tweaks, the design was set.

I worked directly with the CEO of Art Fresh.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I have received positive feedback from a few people who have seen the book cover (it is not published until early 2020).

The workflow was very smooth. Conversations were complete leaving no requirement to continually be in contact, but rather leave the conversation with confidence of what was required to be addressed by either party before the next meeting. Information was shared promptly and responses were equally prompt.

The interest in the CEO in developing a brand for the book that flows through all areas of my project and reflects my already-established brand for my consulting company. They have a holistic approach that supports current and future developments.
