As with any large-scale custom project, there are unexpected issues that arise.  Armia Systems did a great job addressing any issues and continue to meet expectations.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I have a mobile app, user web dashboard and administrator dashboard for myself that works just like we agreed it would. It is beautiful and user friendly. It is even better than I imagined it would be.  There were no surprises along the way. They even included solutions that I did not forecast. It is better than I could have imagined.

Sajin was the Program Manager for this project. From the start, he conceptualized the project and asked clarifying questions that indicated he fully understood the concept, goals and objectives. He responded timely and thoroughly to every question I had. 

We had weekly meetings to review progress and address any concerns. He would spend time helping me problem solve solutions so that we were sure to create an MVP that worked. I felt he addressed every need and was always willing to offer any help needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was most impressed with ownership this company took on ensuring the mobile app MVP worked. They didn't just litterally replicate my drawings and create an MVP that looked the part, but didn't act the part. They made sure that my ideas made sense and could feasibly be accomplished so that the end result was not just a litteral regergitation of my prototype design. Rather, they took the time upfront to really understand what I wanted the app to do and accomplish and made sure it did that.   

I would highly recommend working with Sajin and the team of developers on this project. I want to list them all by name, because I think they all deserve recognition. I am so incredibly proud of the product they created. Sajin was the Program Manager. The Development Team lead was Anand. The Mobile Developer was Shincy and Gobishankar The Web Developer was Remya and Josh. Design was Remya, and QA was done by Udith.

The hardest part of working with Armia was the difference in time zones. However, Sajin would respond to emails even at 2 am his time.

Before starting to progress in detail with the development of the Mobile App / Website, I agreed to the the 'Discovery' package whereby Armia allocated me a Project Manager to listen to my concept (which was very early stage at the time), and help provide suggestions, and more importantly highlight some of the key issues/complications which could arise from the implementation of the idea (these issues were never without helpful resolutions). They helped draw-up impressive visuals for the website/app to allow me to develop the idea further, and they provided some excellent logo options along the way. 
This 'Discovery' service did come at an additional cost (albeit very reasonable) but I would highly recommend it for anyone without a fully formed implementation plan....money very well spent! We then worked phase 2, the full design and creation of the website / app. Armia continued to allocate to me the same Project Manager as during phase 1 - this was vital in keeping continuity and ensuring that I had a central point of contact who understood my vision for the project (I could not recommend my Project Manager highly enough). 
My Project Manager was always available and was easily contactable even outside of our weekly progress update calls. He managed all the in-house developers directly on my behalf (often we had a number of them working in parallel on different workstreams) and would provide me with a detailed breakdown of the costs incurred each week, as well as an update as to whether any additional costs could be expected as result of changes I had requested along the way

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I could not be happier with either the service or the final product. The level of work was exceptionally impressive and largely without much heavy lifting on my part (with my Project Manager making my life very easy). We currently have a strong company website (for which they implemented a helpful wait-list feature for the period whilst we were finalising the App Development pre-launch) and, as of 2 months ago, we have now launched our Mobile App. 
They offered a period post-launch where by they would agree to fix any bugs (at no additional cost) however the App largely required no additional fixes, with Armia catching/fixing any issues earlier in the process. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the outcome and I shall be using Armia again in the near future to develop a second phase of my Mobile App (with some expended functionality)

I was allocated a single Project Manager during the Discovery phase and he supported me throughout. We had a virtual meeting scheduled each week to discuss the status of the project as well as the key priorities for the next week. He was however very responsive more generally over emails/calls. At the end of each week, I was always provided (in writing) an update of the hours used/costs incurred, which was a great help given I was self funding the project (with limited means) and hence costs were a priority for me

I have zero experience in the field of design / product development. However, Armia (and particularly my Project Manager) worked tirelessly with me to explain the process and provide very innovative suggestions which I would not have reached if left to my own accord. This also stretched to working with the various app stores to ensure that even once developed, my App was successfully listed and available for download. It really was full service and I've my doubts I would have reached this goal without their support

Are there any areas for improvement or something Armia Systems could have done differently?

Although I was given very transparent updates in terms of the project's overall costs, and costs incurred each week, the project development did take considerably longer towards the end of the process and so the costs were higher than I had initially budgeted (and Armia had forecast). I expect such 'cost creep' is pretty natural and common in these processes (with unexpected complications etc.) and so notwithstanding this point, I am very happy with the service and would recommend to a friend

We knew about Armia through one of our friends and established contact through him to identify their capabilities. They have demonstrated their past similar works and have described the proposed organisation chart and way of working, starting from gathering requirements, establish scope of works, verification of scope, commercial offer and agreement, Q&A process, dummy server migration and delivery Our deciding factors were full capability on delivering such portal.

We have received warm welcome from the rail industry after launching the portal and with in 6 months have received 2500 registered users and over 6000 daily unique visitors and are growing with out any commercial ads We are yet to establish commercial aspects and marketing ,growth so far was organic and are phenominal.

Project management was acceptable, but there are room for improvement especially during delivery. It should be better to organise an official hand over meeting demonstrating front end user interaction of all features and address timely bug fixing. These feedbacks are constructive for the betterment of the organisation. We advise to improve Q&A for picking minute bugs

The most impressive thing about this company is their willingness to listen to our feedback and address our concerns and the costs of the service provided. Some of the features they went beyond expectation and advised improvement on what we have suggested. They also build an banner ad management for the admin

I had an idea for an app and a website, and I hired Armia Systems to build them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Armia Systems built our website and mobile app from scratch. They developed the mobile app for iOS and Android using React Native, PHP plugins, Node.js, and Python.

The app includes a map with color-coded flags showing the user events in their community by category. For example, sporting events, festivals, and food-related events each have a unique color, with 11 categories in total. Local people can post events, businesses can post ads, and they all appear on the map. Currently, the project is on hold. 

What is the team composition?

A project manager is our main point of contact, though occasionally, I’ve talked to a few other teammates.

How did you come to work with Armia Systems?

When I got the idea, I searched for vendors on platforms like Freelancer.com and Upwork. After visiting those sites, I started getting ads for companies on social media, and Armia Systems was one of the ads that came up on Facebook.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $80,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around April 2020. Although the project is on hold, there are still things I want to add to the platform, so our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality of Armia Systems’ work has met my expectations. I’m happy with the look and design of the website, the way it performs, and even all the tiny little things found during testing. Everything works how it should and looks how it’s supposed to. 

How did Armia Systems perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via email and Zoom. During development, they gave me weekly reports of what they’d completed and what they would work on in the coming week. 

They’ve delivered later than expected and have been over budget. When we started on this, development was supposed to be 12–14 months, and it ended up being 20–22 months, partly because I added some features along the way. Additionally, the project would cost $45,000, and we’ve spent almost double that amount. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of Armia Systems’ work is top-notch. I’m impressed with their attention to detail in finding mistakes, fixing them, and making adjustments. Even after I paused the project, they still worked for another two months to finish everything they were working on. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve by ensuring we’re on the same page on what the project is supposed to do and its intention. Initially, they presented me with a plan we agreed on; they had some questions and provided feedback. Then, they were building for a long time without further alignment. As a result, the platform did something different than what I originally wanted when they presented it. This meant they had to go back and change things, which cost time and money. 

Additionally, they could hash out feasibility aspects and how a product will make money before launching the project. I met a possible investor, and he asked me some things the team hadn’t considered. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to take the time to think through exactly what you want and how you want everything to work before you start the project. You should know how the product will look and function and how it’ll make money. One of the things that took longer for us was that I changed how the app would make money after talking to some people. Therefore, you should consider the feasibility before launching the project.

I am the CEO and Founder of SoHive, LLC and creator of the app Sohive.com, a video-enabled social networking app that offers drop-in video. I created this company to build an app to enable drop-in video so people could meet through video without an invitation. My initial focus is drop-in social video, which will be followed by drop-in shopping video.

For what projects/services did your company hire Armia Systems, and what were your goals?

I hired Armia for software development. I needed someone who could build my app on the Web, Android and iPhone platforms, and create a consistent look and feel across all of them.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I wanted my app built in AWS Cloud, and they said they could do it. I also wanted a company who could release software using the agile methodology (deliver in smaller segments), not waterfall (go live all at once). They were honest. I wanted the app built in 4-5 months and they said it would take 8-9 months. Their estimate was fairly accurate.

We had a discovery session in which I laid out my end-goals, with a roadmap that included 2 additional versions with significant additional features. They prepared wireframes, which helped to bring it to life, before a single line of code was written. Most importantly, they designed a fabulous logo that has become the centerpiece of all my marketing and product direction.

They Sohive.com in the AWS Cloud, using Zoom technology, per my request. They worked closely with Zoom engineers to resolve issues caused by the new Zoom SDK. They did internal testing prior to releasing the first version and gave be beta access so I, and others I chose, could review and test it too.

Above all, they provided a Project Manager who guided the project, responded promptly to my questions and ideas, and offered creative ideas of his own. Although in India, I had no trouble at all understanding him or anyone else on the team.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

One Project Manager worked with me directly, weekly. Two developers were assigned weekly, however, more were allocated at key points in the project, and fewer later to balance out the contracted 2 FTEs per week.

A human-centered Design staff was assigned as needed for logo and UI design. This was a perk I did not expect and it really delighted me. I appreciated their ability to assign people based on project need.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I had delays caused due to three things outside of Armia's control (I had to change the company name thereby requiring UI changes, we had technical issues with the Zoom SDK, and the app stores added unexpected requirements at the last minute).

Not including these delays, they delivered the first version, within the specified number of months. Any delays were communicated regularly. After release, I did not find any significant bugs, and any bugs that were found were addressed promptly.

I have had the same Project Manager throughout the project, and that has been most helpful. He communicates with the other people assigned to my project. The communication is excellent. He warns me 1-2 weeks before they need something from me, such as requirements. They also alert me prior to any release.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Three things.

1. I am so delighted with their graphical artists who created a beautiful logo and user interface for my app. This was an unexpected bonus.
2. They've patiently talked through my unusual ideas and helped me find a version that could be implemented successfully.
3. I am buidling a social media app with very little social media experience. My Project Manager regularly directed me to other apps to see examples that related to my goals. I appreciated his ability to show me where my ideas were similar and yet different than those in other apps.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

In hindsight, I would have like an excel-like project plan with expected dates for deliverables for both them and me. As a new CEO, I needed Terms and Conditions and did not know how to build that.

My Project Manager directed me to a website. It would have been helpful to have these types of deliverables up front to plan to provide them in a timely manner. I work in another job full time and there were weeks I could not deliver what they needed in time and I felt I held them back.

I am the founder of Antistress Revolution LC and creator of the Antistress Revolution app. My company's mission is to empower Gen Z with tools to reduce stress and increase emotional intelligence.

We hired Armia to develop a mobile app for our stress-reducing life coaching method.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I searched developers online, received a quote from Armia and studied their reviews and clientelle.

I moved forward with the Discovery Phase of the project and submitted my content and vision for the app. In meetings, Armia went through each line item in detail to make sure they had a perfect understanding of what I wanted my app to look like. They prepared screen shots of what each page of the app would look like and described how it would function in the Phase.

I was extremely pleased with the deliverables from this Discovery Phase and was able to make the decision to move forward easily. Armia had a full grasp of my vision and was bringing it to life. From this point I had full opportunity to edit every aspect of the design. This process was smooth and timely. My project manager was always prompt and responsive and kept the project moving forward very well. Armia also created a Home Page for the app that is very professional and effective.

They took care of setting up everything with both app stores and guided me through all the steps involved in getting approval and the app live in both stores. My project manager was also involved in wanting to know my marketing plan and giving feedback to ensure the app's success. Their service was complete A to Z from submitting my idea to seeing the app launch and having a very easy-to-understand administration panel.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

In the beginning, my project manager and his design team met with me so we all were introduced and everyone heard about my vision directly from me. The majority of the weekly meetings after that were with my project manager, Nibu Varghese, who I can't say enough good things about. His handling of my project was seemless.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app has just launched and all feedback is that it's very functional and looks fantastic. I am completely satisfied with the outcome and all the suggestions Armia had to create an up-to-date, user-friendly app experience.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The process moved forward via weekly meetings with my project manager. I was informed of exactly what was going on at all times. The project was completed within the original estimated timeframe.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This was my first experience with app development which I knew exactly nothing about when I began. I was impressed with their ability to guide me through the process even though I had no background knowledge.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

My only advice is to fully understand the billing process. You pay a monthly fee that is calculated as part of the Discovery Phase deliverables, but they may have more or fewer people working on the project at certain times so some months you may use more or less credits than you purchased with your monthly fee. The weekly reports show the credits standing. Everything is tallied at the end and a final bill is sent.
