Joining the dots between people, brands + culture

We are a brand experience agency. We join the dots between people, brands and culture. Having a connection with someone is deep-rooted. It’s emotional. A feeling. A relationship. Because when you have a connection, everything just clicks. This applies just as much to brands, as to people. Consumers are searching for brands that share their beliefs and their values. They want personality; brands that think, talk and act like people.

And when they feel a connection, they will give their love, passion, and voice.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the marketing manager of Dr. Martens, a footwear company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Amplify?

We needed help with experiential marketing events, which we weren’t doing very well. We wanted a new, scalable strategy, that would yield better results.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They worked with us to create an experiential marketing strategy. The nature of the events varies, but they’re predominately music based, such as concerts. We’ve also done photo exhibitions and contests featuring people at home during the lockdown. Once we agreed on the strategy, we made sure to find artists that reflect our brand.

What is the team composition?

I’ve had contact with three members of their team, but I know there are 6–7. They include account directors, creative strategists, a content creation team, and account managers.

How did you come to work with Amplify?

I was working at a different brand in a separate sector, and they won our business there. In this process, they won the brief out of a pool of four agencies.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent £1 million (approximately $1.3 million USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started together in April 2019, and our working is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been very satisfied. It’s been a real step-change for our business. We’ve gotten really strong purchasing intent from the events, and we’ve also been able to develop better relationships with the artists involved. We’ve been able to support those artists, give them a platform, and we’ve seen really good results.

How did Ampliify perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication is good. We speak at a decent level of frequency, and I find I can always have honest conversations with them. I see them as an extension of our team and they act as such.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have really strong ideas and helped create some amazing events. They can create strong content and strategy, too, so they’re very multipurpose for me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes they could be a bit more flexible with how our brand wants to be perceived. With a brand like Dr. Martens that has a “spit and sawdust” aesthetic, we don’t need anything to be too sparkly.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

A strong, specific brief is vital for any successful partnership.

The client praises Amplify for their flexibility and ability to respond to changing situations quickly. Though their services are costly, their commitment to perfection leads to highly valuable deliverables.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We're a premium alcohol brand. I’m the global acquisitions manager.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Amplify?

We wanted to know how to activate in a premium way at music festivals.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were primarily creative design and production, doing the physical builds of the design.

What is the team composition?

There were 3-4 people assigned from their side.

How did you come to work with Amplify?

We put the business out to pitch and I’d seen work they’d done previously. I asked them to pitch and they had the best response.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around £400,000 ($490,500 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since January 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’re an awesome agency to work with: efficient, quick to respond, and solutions-focused. They’re also pretty flexible.

How did Amplify perform from a project management standpoint?

We speak primarily through email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their dedication to making sure that the project finishes up to standard — both for us and for them. They’re very particular about making everything perfect and make recommendations on that basis

Are there any areas they could improve?

They publish a white paper about youth behavior once a year, and they’ve offered virtual seminars about how brands can adapt to COVID-19. Often, I find the content of the stuff they’re putting on is obvious in trying to promote their wares as a business rather than actually different any meaningful takeaways for their clients. They’re a little too focused on pushing their own agenda and bringing in more business.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared to spend a lot of money. They’re perfectionists and not great at working with small budgets, but you do get value for what you pay for. The deliverables are 1,000% perfect.
