I’m an executive at Taxes in Mexico, Inc., a company that does taxes for US expats residing in Mexico.

I wear enough hats within my company and outsource wherever possible. We hired Altura Interactivethem for web development services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Altura Interactive provides website design, development, maintenance, and updates. Initially, I talked to the owner; he put me in contact with a resource who handles these services. At first, we had an outdated website, and the team rebuilt it from scratch. We collaborated with Altura Interactive to create mock-ups of the pages and content we wanted and worked back and forth with them to create a few iterations. 

From there, the team rebuilt the website using a more modern language than the legacy website. The original website was built in 2004–2005 using HTML, and I believe Altura Interactive has used WordPress for the new site and set up hosting with GoDaddy. The team’s goals have included making the site more visible on smartphones. 

More recently, Altura Interactive has provided us with website maintenance. The team helps us ensure the security protocols and certificates are up to date. They also make changes to the website, such as updating details about our company or pricing. If we have an error or security issues, they help us deal with them on an ongoing basis. 

We contact them when we have a security issue or need to update the copyright, pricing, or one of our certificates. The team does front- and backend work. If Altura Interactive needs any information like passwords, we provide them. Other than that, the team handles every aspect of the website.

I’ve worked with Altura Interactive’s owner and currently deal directly with Selene (Digital Marketing Manager). I believe other teammates have been involved in the project, but I’ve had no contact with them.

Selene has been great to work with; she’s very responsive and gets things done quickly and efficiently. 

How did you come to work with Altura Interactive?

Our previous provider retired, so we looked for a new partner. I believe we found Altura Interactive through a Google search. We needed a provider with good English-speaking skills and chose Altura Interactive because part of their operations are in Mexico. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $5,000–$10,000. The initial build was the biggest investment, and the yearly maintenance services have had a lower cost. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around June 2015, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our customers have been satisfied with our website because they can find the information they need, including our contact information. Although we mostly get services offered through our contact page, we also get messages from potential clients, so there’s decent throughput. Therefore, the website has achieved what we wanted, and we haven’t had any shortfalls or downtime. In fact, the site has almost 99% uptime. 

As for the initial build, we went through about four iterations, tweaking minor details here and there. Altura Interactive delivered an excellent overall structure for the website, so we only needed to polish the site. 

The goal of our site is to provide basic information to our customers about our services and how to get in touch with us. Most of our business comes through referrals, so we haven’t done any advertising or kept up with the site’s analytics. However, I would use Altura Interactive in a heartbeat if we needed more direct marketing services because of my confidence in their skills. 

How did Altura Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve kept really tight to the budget and are quick to make changes on the site. I sometimes do price markups on my products, and Altura Interactive has been flexible in letting me do things my way. I can print out a marked-up scan and send it over, and they make the change a pretty easy process for us. 

We use email to communicate, which is easier for me than learning another system. The team has been flexible in letting us use the tools that work for us. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re most impressed by Altura Interactive’s responsiveness; this is a critical aspect when working with anyone, even with our clients. I don’t like to leave people hanging or when people leave me hanging, so we appreciate Altura Interactive’s responsiveness and try to reciprocate it. 

Additionally, Altura Interactive’s attention to detail stands out. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any complaints. If I had any issues, I have direct access to the owner; he's hired good people who respond like he would. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate your needs, wants, and budget, and Altura Interactive will tell you what they can do for you. If that works for you, that’s great, and if it doesn’t, you can look at someone else. Like any other relationship in business or life, you should be open with your expectations to align them with a potential partner's.

For example, we recently had a potential client who wasn’t a great fit, so we referred them to another firm. With this approach, no one wastes anyone’s time. Growth for growth’s sake isn’t the goal; you should look to build relationships that work well.

They then present us with a list of potential targets for our approval and once that’s confirmed, they would reach out to extend our clients’ coverage with a link back to our regional websites.

The campaigns are accomplished on a quarterly basis, so we set up new strategies to support our clients’ branding and websites.

We cater to personal injury lawyers, criminal defense lawyers, and other legal verticals that need our help with digital marketing. We had and continue to have clients who require Spanish content. Our internal team currently can't create a lot of Spanish content or translate English content into Spanish, so we needed some assistance.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Altura Interactive has been creating translations in both Spanish and Portuguese for our clients. We use this content on our clients’ websites, as well as for PPC campaigns. They primarily create legal content for our clients’ websites. These are tailored to the specific services the attorneys or law firms provide and are targeted to customers searching for their services. We assign different practice areas and ask them to create content based on this particular topic or translate existing content into Spanish. Alongside Altura Interactive, we’re constantly working on customizing the processes for creating Spanish content and translating English content.

Occasionally, we've also requested that they assist us in reviewing websites in terms of SEO to see if there are any opportunities we haven't tapped into. The team also does social media audits for us, primarily for Spanish content. We constantly have new clients who require Spanish content, and all their services are white-labeled for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We measure it by a client satisfaction level, which we acquire by reviewing whether our clients are happy with the work they’ve translated and reviewed. Altura Interactive has gotten a score of 4 out of 5 — we've had some hiccups with dialect and trying to figure out the best use of Spanish or the Portuguese language for the area we're targeting using SEO. 

The other metric is whether or not the content is ranking and if Google recognizes the language. Things are going quite well with the search engine rankings, specifically Google rankings. Overall, the clients have been happy with their work. 

How did Altura Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

The turnaround time is excellent, and the team has always been accommodating. In terms of communication, we primarily use email. We’ve just recently added them to our project management software, but we have yet to finish the onboarding process. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Altura Interactive is willing to work closely with us using a very hands-on approach. They go out of their way to assist us with whatever we need — when I say that I need help with something that's not necessarily related to the translations, they always step in to assist us. If I'm looking for ideas, they're very open to collaborating and exchanging ideas. They really help me do my job better. Aside from that, I love the team’s attention to detail. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there's nothing they can change right now. However, it would be great to find out the team's latest offerings and services — that way, I can take advantage of this service, and we could figure out how we could work together even more.

They will assist you and walk you through the process. If the team is missing anything, they'll let you know, but for the most part, you can trust Altura Interactive with the whole process.

I’m the director of a mindfulness institute. Over the past 17-18 years, we’ve provided three main tracks for teaching mindfulness. One track involves teaching courses for the general public through individuals, companies, or organizations.

The number of leads that have come from our efforts together has been very good. Those leads have translated into bigger sales. We’ve grown about 30% or so, as a result of their efforts.

Altura Interactive knows what they’re doing. The quality of work is very good.

For the most part, it’s fine. They’re always available when we need to contact them with questions. As our projects have gotten more complex, they’ve been able to respond to that increased complexity.

In the beginning, we primarily did the middle of funnel campaigns. Now, we have a mixture of different types. Each stage requires its own project management and timing. They’ve been able to scale with efficiency.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I haven’t had much experience with other providers, but they’re very responsive. We have a shared Slack channel. Whenever I ask something there, their team responds within a day or even an hour. Their staff is constantly taking courses to get acquainted with the latest trends. They’re proactive in terms of making suggestions about the campaigns.

If a mistake occurs, they quickly acknowledge it and do whatever it takes to correct it. In my case, it also helps that they speak Spanish.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think they’re doing well. They might need to increase their operating capacity because they have a lot of clients, and I believe they’re overwhelmed at times. They’re a growing business.

Clients need to be clear about what they want to accomplish with their campaigns. If you have that clarity, they can implement that within your specific campaigns. Their team also helped me a lot with gaining that clarity.

We are currently on track to hitting our goal of 50 articles within a year of the beginning of this project. They are never late and always communicates to us if there are issues or delays. At this point in time, a handful of these articles are performing well. Thank you Altura. A specific member of Altura has been most helpful in prospecting for backlinks. They are always concerned about our visions for the website and offer solutions to any issues that arise.
