Please describe your organization.
We offer data analytics services for rental housing. We have a research and insight platform for the rental housing industry. We collect all the data on rental housing listings that we can find, build statistical models, and share those insights with our customers.
What is your position?
I’m the chief technology officer.
Could you describe the business challenges that you were trying to address when you first approached Allerin Tech?
We wanted to move faster on getting some features added to our website. Specifically, we wanted to add some email reporting features, different user tiers, automated billing, and several other features in the customer lifecycle category. We didn’t have the resources in-house to get these things implemented in the timeframe we had in mind, so we went looking for a developer that could do it for us.
Could you describe the actual scope of work assigned to them?
This was a Web development project using the Ruby on Rails framework. There was no design work or training involved in this project. They handled the custom coding and implemented it for us.
How did you come to choose Allerin Tech as your partner?
I’m not sure where I found their name, but I had talked to a bunch of shops, both here and abroad, about the project. We ended up selecting Allerin Tech because they had the best blend of cost and quality in what we were looking for.
Can you provide a ballpark estimate figure for the size of this project?
We’ve spent about $5,000 working with Allerin Tech.
What is the status of the project?
The project was completed last year [2014].
In terms of results, could you share any statistics, metrics, or user feedback that would demonstrate the quality of their performance?
I don’t have any hard numbers, but we’re happy with the work they did for us. We had a good working relationship. We felt that we got what we paid for, and we’re satisfied with what they delivered. Their communication was good, and they were very responsive. They were particularly good about communicating their availability and getting things done on time. I don’t have a lot of experience here, but I think in terms of working with a software development team in a foreign country, this went about as smoothly as it could possibly go.
When working with Allerin Tech, is there anything that you would consider unique about their strategic approach or development methodology that distinguishes them from other vendors
I don’t know enough about other vendors to answer that question. I can’t think of anything in particular.
In retrospect, are there areas in which you think they could improve as a service provider?
No. I don’t have any complaints. We were very satisfied.
What advice, if any, would you give a future client of theirs?
It worked well for me when I laid out careful specifications in writing. They did a very good job adhering to all the details of the specifications. We didn’t have any issues because I had a well-defined scope. I think that would be true for any service provider.
