Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the chief product officer for Panamax Inc., a software technology company.
What challenge were you trying to address with AIXTOR Technologies?
We sought AIXTOR’s expertise to build a self-service portal for the telecommunications industry. Among the challenges we had at the time, we had difficulties accommodating a growing customer base because the technology we were using lacked scalability. Additionally, we had a lot of inefficient manual processes.
What was the scope of their involvement?
AIXTOR came on board as consultants and subject matter experts in a particular type of technology called Liferay. Essentially, they helped us not only with the project management but also with the product development.
We already had a baseline when they joined, so we initially provided them with some documentation. However, we had to go through a software upgrade process, which took a long time, making it a challenging step. AIXTOR was very helpful during that process, bringing their technical knowledge and being available to accommodate our needs.
The portal is a one-stop shop for wholesale and retail businesses. In it, we’ve incorporated different automated workflows, personalized dashboards, invoice and payment management systems, and self-service capabilities.
What is the team composition?
I work with their co-founder and a senior consultant.
How did you come to work with AIXTOR Technologies?
We found AIXTOR through word of mouth in some way. One of their team members had originally worked on this project many years ago when we were working with a different consulting firm. When we were looking for a new consulting firm, we found out that AIXTOR was available, and they happened to have offices in India, where our R&D center is, which was very convenient.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $300,000 on this project in total.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2019, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Thanks to AIXTOR’s involvement, we’ve ended up with a portal with a much better UX. Its UI is also a lot more intuitive and easy to use, so the users have a much better experience overall.
In terms of traffic improvement, we’ve experienced a 4x increase in our website traffic, a 5x increase in new customer signups, and a 7x increase in monthly revenue from the platform.
How did AIXTOR Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
AIXTOR has performed very well — I would give them a high mark. We mainly communicate via Skype, where we have different groups and chats, and we either have conference calls or just share messages. Additionally, we use email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
AIXTOR’s knowledge in Liferay is absolutely top-notch; their technical expertise is amazing. Additionally, they offer impressive customer service, showing that they care and offering timely responses. They ensure that we stay on track, and they always stay on top of everything.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We’ve had a very good experience working with AIXTOR, and we haven’t found a particular area that needs improvement.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure that you have your problems well defined before you engage with AIXTOR. They have a lot of acumen and expertise in problem-solving, but having well-defined requirements is very helpful. Additionally, it is preferable to do the QA internally — that was how we’ve worked, and everything has turned out well.
Thanks to its improved UI/UX, the client’s portal now has 4x more traffic and 5x more new signups, and it is getting 7x more revenue. AIXTOR Technologies is communicative and knowledgeable in Liferay. They’ve also demonstrated impressive technical skills and excellent customer service.
