BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CTO of an outdoors retail company that designs and manufactures high quality insulated modular tents and outdoor equipment. Founded in 2012 with locations in both Europe and the US, we are a rapidly growing team that continues to push the boundaries of innovation and design. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Aishbiz LLP?

We hired Aishbiz to develop a custom solution for our existing e-commerce store and platform. 

What were your goals for this project?

At Crua, we pride ourselves on our innovation and use of the latest technologies, and this philosophy extends to our website. Rather than just another boring outdoor company site, we wanted a unique design that would be unusual and creative, but also easy to use and comprehend.

From a functional standpoint, the solution needed to be a stable, cross-platform custom app that could be deployed on our current Shopify site. It also needed a configurable CMS to allow admin staff to easily set up and maintain the parameters.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We created an abbreviated design brief and opened it up to third-party proposals.  The majority of our shortlisted applicants were quickly ruled out for lack of previous experience with a similar project. Aishbiz LLP, on the other hand, submitted real-world working examples of similar projects from their portfolio, as well as a list of credible references. We contacted these references and received nothing but praise for Aishbiz’s services. We drafted and forwarded them a more detailed design document, which we reviewed with them via a call. They demonstrated an immediate understanding of the requirements and we hired them shortly after. 

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

We wanted the user to be guided through the process of building and customizing their own modular camping equipment and, ultimately, their camping experience. We researched a number of “off the shelf” solutions, but none offered the features we required to allow customers to quickly configure their own setup, so we designed our own wireframes and UI/UX, though Aishbiz did offer these services. 

After establishing deadlines and sprints, they implemented the frontend designs as per the wireframes and built the functionality exactly to the design specifications. They also developed and configured both the user facing and the CMS aspects of the solution, then launched it to the live site. There was a two-week support period post-deployment during which we could conduct real-world user testing and identify any bugs or necessary changes.

What was the team composition?

A project manager served as a liaison between their development team and myself. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

During production, we released a few new products that would lend themselves perfectly to the solution we were developing. As a result, we had several people approach us asking how they could build their own unique outdoors setup. This was validation we were on the right track.

Aishbiz completed a usable, scalable, and stable solution that was deployed on time and with no issues. Though in its early stages, we are confident it will be a strong driver for our financial growth over the next few months. It also adds a new dynamic experience to the website that helps our platform stand out from our more dated competitors in the online outdoors space.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was extremely effective. Our single point of contact was friendly and knowledgeable and facilitated open, transparent, and accessible communication. They kept us updated on request statuses and streamlined all dialogue from the developers. Moreover, the time difference between us was never an issue and they were available whenever necessary.

The project itself was divided into several sprints, with deadlines met each and every single time. The sprints were short and manageable and followed a logical order throughout the build.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were most impressed with their dedication and ability to meet deadlines. The team went above and beyond what was required, contributing personal time to help with a task separate from the original design brief. They met all deadlines consistently even when progress was occasionally held up at our end and during real-world testing. They stayed on schedule and worked the issues until we were 100% satisfied. There were never problems, only solutions that were implemented almost instantaneously. 

Are there any areas for improvement?

I honestly cannot think of a single shortcoming.
