I’m the founder of an NFT marketplace for digital art.

What challenge were you trying to address with IPOfunnel?
We needed help with software development.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
IPOfunnel has developed a custom web and mobile application from scratch, allowing users to cast an NFT onto physical screens. IPOfunnel has used React.js and JavaScript for development. The software works with an API from the NFT marketplace OpenSea.
The app features Web3 elements that allow users to connect a digital wallet and pull source files from different NFT sources. Within our app, users can aggregate all the NFTs they own in a single wallet and see them on their main dashboard. Users can also connect a physical token frame screen to their profile and cast NFTs to those screens. Users can modify certain display features; for instance, they can fill up the whole screen or add a border. The app offers a smart display that rotates when users rotate their screen like a phone would do.
These features have been custom-developed by IPOfunnel, who has gathered a development team and filled all the required roles so I didn’t have to work as a hiring manager.
What is the team composition?
IPOfunnel’s founder is my main point of contact, and I also work with other teammates.
How did you come to work with IPOfunnel?
I found IPOfunnel on Upwork. I looked at a few profiles and interviewed different companies. IPOfunnel stood out because they sent me a Loom video where they seemed eager and excited about our product. I sensed a lot of drive and dedication from IPOfunnel.
Even though I interviewed companies with more experience than IPOfunnel, I saw they would dedicate everything to this project and ended up hiring them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $200,000–$300,000 with IPOfunnel.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with IPOfunnel in March 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
IPOfunnel has created a good development team, and I’m glad I hired them for this project. We have a Discord channel with around 1,000 of our app users, where they’re free to voice their opinions.
Last year, we ran into a lot of bugs which is common for brand-new software. Now things have turned around, and our users love the app. We still encounter some tech support things or bugs to fix, but things are looking really great now.
How did IPOfunnel perform from a project management standpoint?
Overall, IPOfunnel has been great at project management — they’re really good at creating spreadsheets with tasks and updates. I’ve been able to focus on the marketing and sales side while IPOfunnel manages the development. We use Jira, Notion, and Figma for project management. We communicate daily through Slack and have weekly calls through Google Meet.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m most impressed by IPOfunnel’s passion and dedication, which really show off. We’re all learning as the company grows.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t see anything detrimental to IPOfunnel’s work. The project’s process has been trial and error since we’re both startups. For instance, there were some months when we’d go a little over budget, but it was partly because I gave IPOfunnel complete control over the project, and I was focused on the marketing aspect of the project. When I finally got the reigns back on that, I saw where we could cut some expenses and some teammates that weren’t delivering the expected results. Not necessarily teammates from IPOFunnel, because they also brought developers from other agencies.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend having weekly calls with IPOfunnel.
