I'm the Director of IT and Process Quality for a nonprofit organization.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Accella?

We wanted to develop a mobile app that allowed our members and volunteers to report their peer visitation activity, complemented by an administrative web-based platform. Previously, members tracked their visits on paper and faxed or emailed it, so we could enter that data into our CRM. It was an antiquated process, so we needed a streamlined process.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Accella built a web portal and mobile application (iOS and Android) that allows users to input their peer visitation information. They integrated Salesforce and other features that make the platform more efficient. The web portal allows our internal team to easily collect and share data for governmental reporting purposes, streamlining the whole process.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about five members of their team, including the VP of operations, a project manager, and a couple developers.

How did you come to work with Accella?

We researched a large number of mobile app developers and narrowed our list down to three potential candidates, who then submitted proposals through an RFP process. We ended up choosing Accella based on their ability to deliver high-quality work and deliver on time and under budget.

How much have you invested with them?

We've invested about $190,000 thus far.

What is the status of this engagement?

They started development in April 2017 and the app was fully functional by July 2018. We're in the process of releasing a second version with expanded capabilities. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

While we did some beta testing, I don't think we chose the most relevant testers, because they didn't fully understand our goals. We've been extremely happy with the platform Accella created. It's helped streamline processes.

How did Accella perform from a project management standpoint?

They've done a great job managing the project, remaining agile and punctual throughout development. They're accessible in communications and meet with us regularly through video conferencing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

There were no surprises. They were very clear on their statement of work, the most important part of the project in my opinion. Even as we deviated from the scope, they were accommodating and flexible to our needs and stayed within our budget.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It's important to go through the full formal discovery process prior to beginning development, which includes planning, wireframes, and a detailed scope of work.
