A1 Enterprise was founded in 2001 in Santa Cruz, CA and has built custom proprietary risk management software systems for large corporations through 2008. In 2010, A1 created an off-the-shelf product, A1 Tracker. The intention of A1 Tracker was to combine the benefits of off-the-shelf software with fully custom build software. A1 Tracker has since become as instrumental in running businesses as core data management software and often serves as companion software with ERP systems.
A1 Enterprise implements and supports A1 Tracker contract management software and other forms of project management software that may be hosted in the cloud or on premise. We also provide professional support services and customizations for unique or complex requirements. By studying other software implementations for over a decade, and as cloud software matured, A1 Enterprise saw a strong need for an off-the-shelf software product with more flexibility to accommodate inter-departmental needs.
A1 Enterprise strengths extend far beyond the product offered. The investment into the software implementation process ultimately sets the stage for how well the software supports the business, how receptive users are to using the software, and ultimately the ROI.
The intention of A1 Tracker is to solve many of the problems we see customers facing with other off-the-shelf products, which are costly and limited to meet unique business requirements. One such problem is integrating other systems with core systems, such as HR, ERP, and manufacturing. A1 Tracker dealt with this problem face on by design a dashboard system capable of reporting on multiple & external data sources, without importing data.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
When I worked with A1 Enterprises, I was with a heavy construction and nationwide infrastructure company. I was the manager of the application support department and was in charge of the software within the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with A1 Enterprises?
We didn't have adequate internal support staff, so we engaged them to supplement our team.

They developed a number of systems for us for insurance tracking, claims management, workers' compensation, incident reporting, and bond management.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a team of about eight.
How did you come to work with A1 Enterprises?
They came to us through one of our individual departments that engaged them to help with a safety system. We took over from that department, and we started engaging them in many other areas of the company.
How much have you invested with them?
We worked together a long time ago, but I'd estimate we spent somewhere in the $50,000-$200,000 range.
What is the status of this engagement?
The collaboration began around June 2006 and ran until 2008 or 2009. The software is still in use, but a new IT director changed everything around.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Unlike some software packages, we didn't have to configure much, and we started using the systems right away. We didn't have to spend any extra money to support the systems, so the purchase price was the final price. The systems did everything they were supposed to do.
How did A1 Enterprises perform from a project management standpoint?
They did very well from a project management standpoint. They helped us manage the deployment, and they didn't need much assistance from me at all. We used an internal tool for the budget, and they had their own tracking tool. They were very responsive and resolved any issues that came up. Their costs were also very reasonable, and they did a good job for us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They deliver on what they promise, and their customer service is excellent. We had very few issues, especially compared to any other organization I've worked with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't have any complaints about them. They did what we engaged them to do, and they did it well.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Rely on them. You can depend on them to follow through and do what they promise.
