A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a nonprofit nature center, and our mission is to create environmental stewards. We have a 1,300-acre park that has trails along the Trinity River, and it goes from city limits to city limits. People can walk in our park trails from Fort Worth to Meridian to Grand Prairie. A trail from Fort Worth to Dallas is to be completed in the next couple of years.
I manage the program in our nature center, which is built with low environmental impact and a sustainable design. It’s an iconic building in Arlington. We also have enrichment programs for children between 3–5 years old and summer programs that are all based on the environment.
What challenge were you trying to address with 900lbs of Creative
900lbs of Creative worked on our visual display and interactive screens, which could be used as a presentation tool or a background for events such as weddings. They could display petals, raindrops, and different other things like that. The screens were a part of a renovation project for the organization’s exhibit hall.
What was the scope of their involvement?
In this project, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use AR/VR technology and front and rear projectors. Our space was also limited, so 900lbs of Creative worked to help me decide what was realistic in terms of space and choose what equipment to use for the project.
In terms of the process, we initially told them what we were looking for by giving them photographs and images. Then, they provided a proposal and concept drawings. They also worked on the creative side of things. To do that, they collaborated with another vendor I hired for the project.
What is the team composition?
We worked with 4–5 people.
How did you come to work with 900lbs of Creative?
900lbs of Creative was involved in an exhibit at a museum, so I went online and searched for their portfolio. Then, I hired them along with other subcontractors in this project.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from January–July 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The quality of 900lbs of Creative’s work was good. At that time, they were only building their company, so they had a few challenges in terms of filling positions that I needed for the project. However, they still did a good job. Overall, I had nothing but good things to say about their work.
How did 900lbs of Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
I had timelines and storyboards, so they did a good job in terms of project management. We had face-to-face contact as well as phone conversations. They stayed in touch and helped me check what was happening to our screens. When I needed their help every now and then, they were very good at calling me immediately.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I liked that their owner was very excited about the work and opportunities that we had. Moreover, they worked closely with the other vendors that we hired, so they were great people.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there weren’t any.
The engagement was a success, and the client praised the quality of the team’s work. 900lbs of Creative worked collaboratively and stayed in touch with the company throughout the engagement. They also interacted closely with other vendors involved in the project, which the client appreciated.
