I am the CEO and co-founder of Smileworks Liverpool, the UK’s largest and fastest-growing independent dental practice.

What challenge were you trying to address with 51blocks?

Our blog was performing well on all of the major search engines, but a recent update made the platform slow and hard to navigate. We needed a web developer who specialized in SEO to update our site without negatively affecting our online visibility. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

To make our blog more mobile-adaptive, 51blocks added larger fonts that were easier to read on small screens. They were also required to make the fonts visible in WordPress’ visual mode so our non-technical editors can easily format their content.

51blocks began the process by backing and reinstalling our entire database. They then altered the frontend to reflect the design insights that we gained from heatmaps, research, and data. Our security features were upgraded, and the legacy code was refined to help the site run faster.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We only asked them to clean up our blog’s interface, but 51blocks went above and beyond our requirements to reverse all of the damage done from the previous update. The site is now easy to navigate and running at optimal speeds. They beautifully customized the platform to match our business goals. Our site traffic has increased significantly since the renovation, and a large number of visitors are converting to leads. The improvements also sparked increases in the average time spent on the site and decreases in bounce rate. 51blocks delivered a secure and scalable system, giving us the freedom to expand our business.

How did 51blocks perform from a project management standpoint?

It was the most pleasant engagement that I've ever experienced because they respected our time. While other vendors tend to bombard us with constant emails, 51blocks was able to comprehend our initial brief with a few follow-up questions. Despite the minimal back and forth, they executed the project well.

There were many positive aspects to working with 51blocks, which includes their speed, accuracy, and responsiveness. We recently emailed them about a WordPress bug that was affecting our site, and they were able to resolve the issue within a few hours. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site has been live for nearly a year, and we still get compliments from our userbase almost weekly. They say it’s one of the best sites they’ve ever seen. The chat feature has definitely generated some leads, and we use some of their content as advertising on LinkedIn.

How did 51blocks perform from a project management standpoint?

The operations manager asks great questions and keeps us on schedule. She hears my concerns and finds out-of-the-box solutions. The content writer sticks to a schedule and makes sure he applies our requests and concerns to his work. We receive detailed reports on a regular basis that outline our traffic and site analytics. We mainly communicate through email and Slack. We video conference every three weeks to review progress. They understand our business and are patient with us as we review their content.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re willing to listen to and learn from us. A lot of companies just provide generic solutions, but 51blocks took our concerns seriously and customized the workflow and products to our needs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. Whenever I have constructive feedback, I always let them know, and they always adjust accordingly.

Be honest about your concerns and expectations. If you let them know what you want, they’ll deliver.
