Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a self-guided fair chase pheasant hunting operation in South Dakota. I am the owner of the business.
What challenge were you trying to address with 3plains?
We wanted to have a content-rich website, optimized for organic search.
What was the scope of their involvement?
3plains has handled SEO [search engine optimization] and custom development for our site. They also build a robust system with payment processing for our online bookings.
How did you come to work with 3plains?
I'd had experience with another third-party SEO company and had a problem with getting good search engine rankings. I knew that 3plains was a leader in the outdoor market for South Dakota, and I could relate to them on a more personal level than with bigger companies. This is still a big reason for our continued collaboration.
How much have you invested with 3plains?
The average cost of 3plains's services is around $3,000 per year.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with 3plains more than 10 years ago [2006], and have an ongoing relationship.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
3plains's work on SEO and the infrastructure design of our system have been responsible for our business. 3plains has been a strong strategic partner, and I can't think of a more powerful tool, from a marketing standpoint, than the site they've built for me. I've been able to move away from all marketing channels, except for organic search, which is a huge cost savings.
Because of the length of our relationship, it's hard to specify metrics. We've worked on many projects through the years, and I'd say that 80 percent of our traffic comes through the website. This is attributable to 3plains's work and organic search.
What did you find most impressive about 3plains?
When I started working with 3plains, the company was made up of only the owner, but they've grown to 4 people. The organization has specific expertise for design and is focused on the outdoor market. 3plains started its business in South Dakota, with pheasant hunting outfitters, but they branched out to have an almost nationwide reach, and even beyond if we consider fishing businesses in Mexico and Canada. 3plains continues to grow and develop as an organization.
Are there any areas 3plains could improve?
I can't think of anything. 3plains's professionalism and customer service have continued to improve in time.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with 3plains?
Listening to customers will help owners add value to their business.
