2020 Media International relayed the vision of what the institution could be in the future. About 50% of customers were extremely positive about it and over 50% of the audience believes that the plans will come to fruition. At present, around 90% of the required funding has already been received.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Phoenix is an independent cinema and art centre based in Leicester. I am the marketing manager.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire 2020 Media International?

We plan to expand Phoenix with two new cinema screens, a new art gallery and more. We hired 2020 Media to create a promotional video to help us with fundraising. The deliverable was a short advert to be screened before all films in the cinema for six months, and also used online and on social media.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to encourage our regular customers to donate towards our expansion plan - Phoenix 2020. The idea was that customers could 'be part of it' - gaining rewards and recognition in line with the level of their donation.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

2020 Media were already known to Phoenix. They were chosen based upon their track record of producing high-quality videos for other companies including De Montfort University.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

2020 Media worked closely with Phoenix on the wider strategy to design a video that articulated how the planned expansion would affect them - their love of film and art, their shared experience with friends, their support of their local art center.

It communicated how they, by donating and seeing their name on the finished building, could 'be part of' Phoenix delivering more, something which would be valued by themselves and the city of Leicester more widely.

2020 Media was involved in all the details including creating the script and storyboard, managing 6 separate shoots, and working with us to recruit volunteers for scenes featuring customers. They produced the film and soundtrack, which following a couple of minor reviews, was completed on time and budget.

As a charity, we had a limited budget to work with. 2020 Media helped us to minimize costs in many ways - for example, coaching us to deliver the voice-overs!

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

2020 Media drove the project forward, setting the pace and taking responsibility for progress. When you're working on something new and unfamiliar this was extremely valuable.

They took the time to help me gain buy-in from others in the company - including a management team of 8 people as well as the board of directors - especially at the start of the project when they presented the creative concept.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project exceeded expectations. Its goals were twofold: to create understanding and enthusiasm for our Phoenix 2020 plans; and to generate income for the build. A survey 4 months after the video launched showed that 50% of customers were very positive about the plans, and 40% positive. Over 50% of the audience felt they understood our plans well.

Our goal was to generate around £10k from customer donations. The result was £16k from 350 individual donations. The project is currently in its final stages of fundraising (which have been delayed by Covid-19) with around 90% of the funding now in place from a wide range of stakeholders, trusts and foundations, and individual donations. The video has played an important part in raising awareness with many of these organizations and enabling us to communicate a compelling vision.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The 2020 Media team worked very closely with us and, as already mentioned, project managed things impeccably.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was really impressed with the 2020 Media's drive and enthusiasm. They were clearly a company that wanted to do great work and were prepared to work hard to make it happen. I felt in good hands throughout the process, with people who had experience and good judgment.

They were really strong strategically with a deep understanding of how to use video to appeal emotionally. On set, behind and in front of the camera, and in production, they were entirely capable and in control. They really worked well together as a team.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Nothing comes to mind.

The client submitted this review online.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am Head of Brand at Motorpoint. We are the UK's largest independent car retailer and we specialise in nearly new cars under 3 years old with less than 25,000 miles, which are still under manufacturer's warranty and we promise that nobody will beat us on price.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire 2020 Media International?

During lockdown, we introduced our national home delivery service and as part of this we launched a new portal that enables our customers to complete all of their paperwork and payments online which avoids the need for any type of contact.

We needed a video to launch our new proposition but also reassure customers that buying a car in this way was safe and most importantly, easy.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed a video to sit on our website and YouTube that could explain our proposition. We then launched a new campaign with required edits for social, BVOD and newsbrand activity.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

A team member had previously worked with 2020 Media International and they had come highly recommended.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We briefed 2020 Media International on the customer journey and the key points we wanted to communicate. Using our brand bible they went away and produced a storyboard with script and suggested  onusing animation. With a few tweaks, we went into production.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

The team at 2020media were in constant contact, asking questions as they needed. We spoke frequently to clarify different points and feedback was always well received.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our home delivery has been a huge success. With the city specific campaign, we have increased searches on our website and the YouTube video has had over 230,000 views.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was really effective. It was a new way of working for everyone during the lockdown but 2020 Media International made it really efficient and effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to take feedback and adapt was impressive. They always went above and beyond to help.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, I'd definitely work with them again.

The client submitted this review online.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the owner / Managing Director of a specialist marketing communications agency, specializing in the golf industry.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with the vendor?

The project was to create a digital brochure for a high-end private golf club in Italy, including video content. The content would also be used across other marketing collateral and channels.

The goal was to bring the brand positioning to life, communicate key messages, and personalize the brand experience through interviews with the owner of the club and its members.

Ultimately, we wanted the videos to create an emotional response and influence prospective members to take the next step and visit. It was an important part of the marketing mix to generate engagement and visits to the club.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

While we have experience of a number of video production companies over the years, some of which have been selected for us by our clients, we have recommended and used 2020 Media International for more than 10 years.

Once we showed our client in Italy the quality of their work, there was no need for a competitive pitch. The combination of quality, reliability and value is
hard to beat.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We commissioned three videos:

  1. A promotional video of the club and the destination, including an interview with the proprietor and testimonial quotes from members
  2. An interview with the famous designer of the golf course
  3. A video telling the story of a tournament at the club/event video.

In all, we spent approximately three days' filming at the location.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

A two-person crew was provided and while a producer is typically provided to oversee the shoot, on this occasion I accompanied the crew and acted as producer/interviewer. We required drone video and this was expertly executed. The ability to both pilot and shoot high-quality drone footage added significant value.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or
success?

The video was used in membership collateral, sent privately to prospective members. There is no doubt that the quality of the video, its shooting, and, importantly, its beautiful editing, created the emotional response we required.

We increased the number of prospective members who then visited the club. Membership of the club increased by approximately 20%. The video was
an important element in selling the brand experience and inviting customers to visit Italy and sample the club.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent. Initially, I worked with the company MD on the brief, and then with the production crew to plan the shoot. They take time to understand the brief, ask for insights, and suggest creative solutions to enhance the video.

On location, they are self- sufficient, professional, and hard-working. They are always a pleasure to work with and are flexible if plans need to change/adapt.

What did you dnd most impressive about this company?

Ultimately, you judge the finished product and whether it fulfills the objectives. In this case, we required a world-class video to communicate the new brand positioning we had created for our client – and then use the video to help commercialize our offer, in this case, sell private club membership. We achieved our objectives on both counts and the content is still being used.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were highly satisfied with the end product and the manner in which it was delivered. The combination of quality, effectiveness, and value is unbeatable.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a Director and Ergonomist with Human Applications, one of the UK's leading risk and safety management practices

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire 2020 Media International?

I have used 2020 Media International on a number of projects for different clients. In particular, they have produced a series of films to support our SMART Handling training programmes and a set of films for an incident management programme

What were your goals for this project?

We know that we have great ideas but that none of our team has a skill in visualising content. Our clients have needed assurance not just that our training programmes are worthwhile, but in particular that the additional spend to produce high-quality films added value

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Like all the best connections, 2020 came via recommendations. One meeting and we were convinced that they were right: not just because of their ideas and content, but because the way they are set up and run their business felt similar to us, and so it has proved.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We work with the team at 2020 to agree content and they have been able to steer our ideas so that they are filmable. As the connection between our client and 2020, we typically arrange access and other logisitics. Often we are working in live operational environments and 2020 are brilliant at fitting into local constraints and still getting the shot.

On a couple of jobs, 2020 have auditioned and managed actors. The editing process is fast and tremendously responsive to ours and our clients' requests for change. The package of work always includes everything (graphics, music rights, uploads, etc.)

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Probably the biggest challenge a business of our size has is managing effort - we typically over deliver on work because our clients are keen to keep costs tight. 2020 have a way of blocking their work plan so that they can keep to plan, and still accommodate changes, and come in within the agreed budgets.

By the time we had completed our first project, we were completely comfortable with their ways of working. In addition, our clients were comfortable with the 2020 approach, the team and their way of working, and that's so important when you're asking them to take a leap of faith and invest in a film.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Oh, man: just the films that they made for our incident investigation programme were incredibly powerful. We had run the training programme for four years, and it was perfectly functional in delivering the learning outcomes. 2020 created a series of films and interviews with a small cast, all filmed in one day at one site.

Five years on, the storytelling and the structure of those films moves our learners in different and surprising ways.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Because 2020 respond so quickly to all communications, they're incredibly responsive. They've stuck to plans, been there on time every time, delivered ahead of schedule and billed promptly and accurately

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The people. I worry that we must be incredibly tedious to work with, because all of the 2020 team seems incredibly talented at what they do, and making films for a safety course feels like getting an F1 team to do your MOT. On top of their talents, it turns out that they're just a pleasure to do work with, too.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No. I guess I don't know everything that they do and maybe I'll make that a project for this year, because there may be services that we've never thought of using. But that probably tells you that this is not a pushy business and that's another reason why it's been such a pleasure to have them as our visual comms partners. I typically include them in almost every bid for new work. I should probably let them know that.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m an account manager and SEO consultant at Digital Ethos Ltd. We’re a full-service digital marketing agency, so we provide a range of services from SEO to website design.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with 2020 Media International?

We hired 2020 Media International to provide video production work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their team came to us and outlined six areas where we could use video production support, focusing on business services. They handled pre- and postproduction work, scripting, filming, directing, and editing the videos. The final products ranged from 30-second snippets for social media to two-minute versions.

What is the team composition?

Bella (Business Development Manager, 2020 Media International) and Becky (Head of Communications & Producer, 2020 Media International) support us on marketing efforts and producing the videos. There are a few other teammates who support the editing needs, too.

How did you come to work with 2020 Media International?

We wanted to hire them as a video production partner so our other clients can use them, too. Because of this, it was important that we shared values. 2020 Media International is very transparent and is trustworthy. They also have great ratings from other credible businesses, so they seemed like a good fit. Locally, they’re the best quality option, too.

How much have you invested with them?

We haven’t paid money for their work since our two companies swap services directly.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since May 2019 and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had great feedback so far. For example, we’ve been asked to show the video at a business event because of how professional it is. Our YouTube subscribers have also greatly increased since we began posting the videos. Previously, we’d see around 20 views on a video, but now one has 2,5000 views.

How did 2020 Media International perform from a project management standpoint?

They continue to meet deadlines and communicate well. Since they’re carrying out services for our team and we’re returning services for them, we speak on a weekly basis. They keep to our deadlines in terms of proofing scripts and adhering to the filming dates. Overall, they’ve managed the project very professionally.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a really friendly group of people—we’re always comfortable working with them. Whenever they’re filming, they make everyone relaxed while still acting very professionally to get good results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

More direction and input about animations could have been helpful, even though we didn’t specifically ask for that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Definitely choose them for your project, even if you don’t know exactly what your idea or direction is. They will be able to turn your story into reality because of their quality skillset and knowledge.
