Slow tourism is an alternative tourism choice in contrast to mass tourism. It is a part of the sustainable tourism family, different from mainstream tourism and emphasizing the tourist’s greater personal awareness. 

The Delta lui Ivan mobile app aims to help visitors to the great Danube Delta and wetlands part of the reservation create curated routes to get the most out of the slow toursim experience. Also the app allows users to book entries to the Ivan Patzaichin Museum and Community Development center from the app by generating a QR code. This can be scanned at the tournichet and enter the amazing place where our great champion, Ivan Patzaichin still lives on.

We wanted to develop mobile apps and a backend management area to deliver healthcare education and collect data for a pilot study. Our goals were to produce user-friendly iOS and Android apps to support our pilot study and test the efficacy of the intervention.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected Wolfpack Digital through an open public tender process through our local University based on quality of the proposal and project plan, quality of the proposed team, contract management proposals, and ultimate cost.

We provided their team with detailed wireframes and specification documentation. They developed the solution through a series of project sprints and incorporated the features specified in the design. As well as teh app development, technologies used include AWS and Active admin.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with a project manager as the main point of contact throughout the project. We also worked with a UX/UI designer, iOS and Android developers and an excellent backend developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are very happy with the quality and speed of the development process. Our pilot study which uses the apps and backend launches soon.

The project manager was easy to communicate with. We scheduled weekly meetings and communicated through documentation, email and via Slack. The project plan, budgets and timelines were discussed regularly and we had no surprises as we worked through the project.

The speed at which development progressed and the quality of the final result was impressive. The team were also very easy to communicate with and were a joy to work with.

The timeliness of documentation and reporting on the development process and procedures can be improved.

Wolfpack took strategic ownership (i.e., provided excellent advice) beyond just project management. They arranged a weekly governance meeting for us, to make sure we are on track and on time. And in addition we have a "sprint review" every few weeks. New needs have arisen because what we are building is a first-of-its kind web application, and each time a new need has arisen Wolfpack has communicated the available options while always keeping budget in mind.
