I’m the marketing manager of PourMyBeer, a company that provides software technology to bars, restaurants, breweries, and similar establishments. The technology allows the customers to pour their own beverages by the ounce, which encourages sampling. Being a smaller company of 16 people, we don’t have the resources for a full-time SEO person.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provide SEO services. They keep us up to date on what we should focus on when we’re doing content creation for the website or a PR. I handle WordPress development and I build my landing pages. However, any time I need a customized page, features aren’t available for me, or I want it to look more professional, they work hard to deliver what I like. they review most of the pieces that I build on my website, including our blog content, and optimize it for SEO. We also have them create blog posts sometimes. Their team helps understand where leads are coming from and what type of leads they are.

I communicated with one person, but there are other people on the team. On the SEO and content sides, there are two people. There’s the main account manager who checks in frequently to make sure we’re still happy.

Their help with SEO has been tremendous. They can do what one person can do in less time because they have all the tools and an educated team. They’ve really helped us with our SEO strategy to get ranked well for our top keywords. Overall, they’re one of the best companies I’ve ever worked with.

They get every little detail put together. They allow me to be consistent with our new content publishing. All the SEO work they’ve done has been working tremendously for us in terms of getting more organic leads. They helped a lot with reporting and data visualization. WebFX also helps understand our data and what part of the market we should be focusing on.

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very easy to work with and communicative. I look forward to working with them because the communication is so easy. They always take everything I ask them to do into consideration. I communicate with them via email most of the time. When they send me the specific content they’ve been working on, they send me a link to a platform to see a preview where I can make comments and can either approve or request certain changes.

They have a lot of internal tools that are very helpful and make communication simple. I also use Google Hangouts for our “in-person” meeting which allows me to have face-to-face interactions. They have everything well managed. I’ve had experiences with two different reps handling our account and both of them were extremely well-organized, reliable, and responsible people.

They have a team that’s knowledgeable and able to help right away.

There’s nothing they need to improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You should be clear. Figure out what works on your end and what you actually need help with. If you don’t know what you want, go to them and give them access to your platform and data. They will help you understand what you need help with.

Prior to my tenure here, we wanted to do a website redesign and a partner to oversee our digital advertising efforts.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

During one of the web redesign projects, things did not go as expected. The project was disorganized due to a lack of communication and understanding of our processes.

While there was a hiccup there, I was pleasantly surprised by how openly they accepted feedback and how important it was for them to hear about how they could provide a better service. Outside of that large project, they send us monthly reports on how our website is performing. That includes traffic increases and conversions.  

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re great at providing monthly updates over email and in-person meetings. In our in-person meetings, we speak in-depth on our strategy and company. That allows them to make better decisions to position us within the Internet marketing space. I appreciate that they take the time to learn about our business through their in-person meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They dedicate a significant amount of time to our account each month. We appreciate their willingness to invest time in-person with us, providing us with the attention that we need. They understand the importance of their partnership with us and want to make it the best experience possible.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The company is extremely young, so there isn’t always much industry knowledge from their teammates. That’s noticeable in our blog content sometimes. The face-to-face meetings are needed, so we can provide them with information regarding the nuances of our business. While some of the content needs significant adjustments, we understand that they’re not expected to have that industry knowledge.   

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Invest in building a true partnership with them, working closely with their team. That way, you’ll get the most out of their work. Stay actively engaged with them throughout.

I’m a marketing programs specialist at a biotech startup located in Massachusetts. Our company created software that functions as a marketplace platform. We connect labs, clinics, and hospitals that have human specimens such as blood and tissue with researchers who are seeking these samples. Our goal is to accelerate research and diagnostics.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebFX?

Essentially, we were trying to increase traffic to our site to improve our rankings on Google searches. It was important for us to create some more engagement with some of our newer web pages and content.

What was the scope of their involvement?

It’s early on in our partnership, but they’ve done a decent bit of keyword mapping so far. They also have dove into competitor research that they’ll use to help us rank higher than our competition for our designated terms. Additionally, they’ve started on their content optimization efforts and research. In doing so, some of our resources and collateral have been processed. 

We create all of our content internally, and they’ll eventually do an audit to scrub for keyword performance. Their team will also help us optimize our weekly blog posts. 

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is our account manager. However, we’ve also engaged with a sales representative and a few people from customer support.

How did you come to work with WebFX?

I did a very extensive search and vetting process, examining about 15 different SEO agencies in New England and beyond. After reaching out to each of them, I received an extremely fast response from WebFX.

In my first and second screenings, they were professional and organized. Their followup messaged contained their portfolio and slides describing their company. That was very impressive—no other company sent anything like that. 

They were clear and transparent about their process, which was a refreshing difference as compared to other SEO partners. Their willingness to cater to a smaller company with a tighter monthly budget was also impressive. We were confident that they’d make impactful changes to our site.

Our account manager spent time asking us detailed questions about our business and industry to determine keywords we should target. In that process, I filled out several questionnaires, providing that organizational information. That brought their team up to speed pretty fast. 

Even so, they did tons of research on their own, specifically in relation to our competitors. They made sure it was a very collaborative process. Because of that, they’ve been able to quickly understand our business despite it being niche. 

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

The entire staff has been helpful to us so far. They prioritized transparency through the use of a platform that allowed us to track their progress. That and their responsiveness is keeping us on the same page. We get regular, thorough email updates from our account manager. She also sends detailed followups that include a summary of our discussion as well as clear next steps and action items.

What did you find most impressive about them?

After I filled out one of their surveys, they were kind enough to send me an Amazon gift card and a handwritten note to express their thanks. That left a great impression on us. Customer service as a whole was a huge plus with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m newer to the SEO world, so it would be useful to have a bit more clarity on some of the more technical terminology. Now, sometimes I’m not clear on the meaning of certain terms.

Especially in their questionnaires, provide as much information about your company as possible. That’ll ensure they can do the best job possible.

Initially, our services were not showing high on most search engines. When we brought in WebFX, they spent time learning the vernacular of our industry and what verbiage people use when searching for the products we manufacture. They researched these keywords to begin crafting their SEO strategy for our web pages. Looking at our site, they helped us tailor our writing and images to provide the details interested customers tend to search. 

From there, the team started writing blogs using keywords and link building to expand our SEO. That way, no matter where someone searches, customers can find us.

We went from obscurity to coming up on the first page of results for many of our premium products. Each month, we evaluate and review their progress. They’ve improved our online rankings by over 100%.

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is always ahead of deadlines. In fact, they’re usually waiting on us. Every time we called or emailed, their response was immediate. 

Their representative also visited our facilities because our industry was new to him. We were able to walk through our components and processes, so he could fully understand our company before diving into the project. We really appreciated that.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very patient, collaborative, and interested in our success. The team was fantastic at getting to know our business so they could best support our growth through SEO.

I can’t think of anything, because they were usually ahead of schedule and consistently proactive in making sure we had the resources we needed.

Make sure you’re clear with them on your goals for the project from the beginning. We didn’t know what to expect, and that can be a challenge sometimes. But, if you’ve been disappointed with another vendor, don’t hesitate to reach out to WebFX. I’d highly recommend it.

Please describe your company and your position there.

As Marketing Manager for Classic Drycleaners and Laundromats, responsible for all internal and external marketing, including social media, SEO and online reputation monitoring.

Classic Drycleaners and Laundromats was started in 1970 with one location in Mechanicsburg, PA. We now serve the Greater Harrisburg area with nine drycleaning stores, five self-service laundromats, free pickup and delivery service, and a restoration division specializing in the restoration of textiles and electronics affected by fire, smoke, and water damage.

For what projects/services did your company hire WebFX?

We hired WebFX to redesign our website. This redesign included SEO, for which we continue to work with them. We previously worked with WebFX, in a different capacity.

Our site was hacked, and WebFX successfully solved the issue and implemented proactive measures to prevent a repeat occurrence. They also handle all of our Wordpress updates.

What were your goals for this project?

As a leader in our local industry, we needed our website to more accurately represent who we are as a small, local business. Our site needed a fresh, updated look which included a more user-friendly experience from both a desktop and mobile standpoint.

There were several areas of service which needed more dedicated site space, and increased visibility. We needed to implement SEO in order to increase traffic and leads for several key areas of service. Additionally, we've been optimizing our Google pages for all locations.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We worked with various web companies in the past, all of whom lacked experience, communication, knowledge, follow-through, and professionalism.

We realized that choosing a less expensive and smaller company was not a good fit for us, and would not provide what we needed for this project, and ongoing ones. We needed a company that was focused and committed, eager and excited, established and reputable. We needed an expert in the field.

Both myself and our Owner, Paula Kostick, were in agreement. WebFX has an excellent reputation, not only locally but on national level. We wanted a responsive, forward-thinking, professional (yet fun) company to spearhead our project and provide ongoing support and direction. WebFX provided all of these things, and continues to do so.

Describe the project in detail.

We did a complete website redesign (both design and structure), and WebFX played a very active role in all steps of the process. They were directive, yet eager to hear our feedback and ideas.

We began by discussing our goals, needs, and expectations - all of which were received by a lead project manager. We had great brainstorming meetings, excellent communication via phone, email, and in-person meetings.

At various points in the project, other contacts were brought into the process based on the area of focus. We provided most content, including copy, photos, logo, etc.

What was the team composition?

We had 3-4 project members throughout the process - all of whom were outstanding to work with. Tyler was our initial point of contact, discussing our needs, goals, etc.

Once we made the decision to move forward on the project, Brianna became our Project Manager and spearheaded the various tasks required, and kept us focused on our timeline - which was (and continues to be) very important.

We worked with Sandi for the site pre-launch and launch. Sandi was excellent at troubleshooting, and making last minute corrections and tweaks. Her responsiveness was awesome.

We worked with, and continue to work with, Wes. He is amazing! Wes is responsible for our SEO and Marketing Cloud-related tasks. We appreciated (and continue to appreciate) his enthusiasm to learn about who we are, what we do, and how we can do it better.

Our monthly phone calls for reporting and brainstorming are awesome, and much-needed to keep us focused and moving in the right direction. We are able to evaluate progress, and make changes to our plan as needed.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are pleased with the quality of traffic to our website, as well as increases in leads. We have also experienced positive growth from our Google reviews as a result of SEO, which is fantastic.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used (and continue to use) various forms of communication, including: email, basecamp messages, and screenshare/conference calls. These are the best forms of communication for myself, and WebFX was eager to respond in whatever manner worked best for everyone. I greatly appreciated this, as some vendors (both past digital vendors and others) try to implement methods of communication that simply don't work for us.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

WebFX has so many strengths which we value.

• Organization - from project start to finish, the entire process was extremely organized. At any point in the project, we knew what was expected from us, what we should be expecting from WebFX, and when it was expected.
• Communication - All of our project contacts were excellent at communication. They responded in such timely manners.
• Expertise - We appreciated having individuals who were experts in their field/space, who led various parts of our projects.

And, they communicated their ideas, industry trends, etc. in ways that were not complicated or difficult to grasp and understand. And, when we didn't know about a topic or seemed confused, they were eager to answer as many questions as we had until we felt comfortable. We hired WebFX on behalf of a client of ours, a pest control company that required SEO and PPC services, in addition to some general website improvements.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We rely on WebFX to lead the SEO and PPC campaigns, primarily with Google Ads but sometimes with Bing, as well. Their team also conducted an initial keyword analysis and put together a proposal that drove most of the other efforts. Our client has a content creator in place that they are comfortable with, but WebFX advises them on how to improve the content strategy using the keyword analysis they provided. Additionally, WebFX performs some link building work, and they have made website redesign and functionality updates. Finally, we’ve contracted them to do a special analysis of the website to determine how people are using the site. From that report, we collected heat maps to see if the layout was optimal for conversions.

We initially interacted with a client acquisition representative, but once we agreed to terms, Anthony (Internet Marketing Consultant, WebFX) assumed full responsibility of our account.

Since working with WebFX, our client has seen growth in the performance of the website from an organic and direct standpoint. Overall visits to the site have increased by about 20%, and there has been a 20–30% increase in inquiries and leads generated. We plan to continue working with WebFX because I think they have us on an excellent trajectory to where we want to be.

Anthony is one of the best I’ve worked with in terms of communicating clearly and consistently. He keeps track of our projects and addresses our concerns promptly. I’d say this is the area they’ve excelled the most at. Their overall account management and responsiveness have been excellent.

Comparing our recent June 2018–2019 period to the same time in 2014, we’ve seen a 148.49% increase in organic visits, an almost 203% increase in organic users, and a 54.5% increase in overall online revenue.

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

I appreciate that they send us highlights along with our monthly report because they understand that we’re busy. They let us know which key points to look at and note any areas that we might consider changing. Whether it’s increasing our ad spend for camps or clubs, they know where our money should go to best help our cause.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Working with WebFX is like paying a part-time employee to do a critical role really well. We count on them for everything. If we’re looking at a social media campaign, we know that we can send it to Jason to review, and he’ll be completely honest with us. Even though we’re probably his smallest account, I think he keeps us because he likes us.

On top of that, Jason is great at understanding what we do and suggests new ways to be helpful. For example, he knew that we didn’t have time to do blogs, so he had his team take over the process. They now write amazing content. It’s their ability to identify places where we need support that stands out. Every little bit helps.

I am the sales and marketing manager at Energex Corporation. We offer lines of heating and cooking pellets.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebFX?

We engaged WebFX to help us build a website and manage our SEO campaigns.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebFX built a WordPress site that we could edit and maintain ourselves. We also relied on WebFX to create content for several website pages. We provided them with background information on specific topics, and they created pages upon pages of content. I wrote a few pages myself, but their team wrote most of them, which I later edited. We conducted extensive research into which keywords we wanted to target, so all of WebFX’s efforts were geared toward those SEO terms.

The site’s key feature that we didn’t have before is a dealer locator that shows users their three closest dealers for our products. We wanted the results limited to three so that our competitors couldn’t find an entire list of our dealers. That same feature disables if our website determines too many clicks had come from the same IP address. Additionally, we now have a tab on the site that provides information and forms for people who want to become dealers of our products.

Our other main concern was diversifying the layout of the site from one product to the next, so on each of the pages for heating pellets and cooking pellets, there is a different layout and color scheme.

What is the team composition?

We work with one website project manager and another manager for internet marketing.

How did you come to work with WebFX?

Our company had worked with WebFX in the past—before I took over in this position. I engaged them again to see if they could be of any further help for this new project. I felt comfortable selecting them because they have a lot of positive online reviews and an impressive portfolio. They are also local to the extent that I drive by their office every day on my way home. Being able to meet with them in person was a point in their favor.

Our engagement began in April 2018 and remains ongoing. The site launched in October 2018, and we have continued our SEO efforts and website maintenance since then.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our website has earned a new link every month or so, which has increased our domain authority, and we’ve seen significant increases in overall site traffic, leads, and forms that users complete. For example, from January 2018—before the site launched—to January 2019, we saw new users visiting the site increase by 416%. In terms of the design, the website has exceeded our expectations.

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

Our project managers were both very experienced and knowledgeable. I’m thankful they were able to pass down some of that wisdom to my team. We communicate very well through Basecamp, phone calls, and in-person meetings. Our team caused the only significant delay when we were trying to determine how to switch our domain to a new hosting company. WebFX, by comparison, pretty much met every deadline. We agreed to a few minor delays so that we could ensure everything was correct, but overall, I was never disappointed in our scheduling or felt that we were behind.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by their experience and expertise in a field that I had no familiarity with before this project. We also found it beneficial to work with a larger company. There are a lot of different minds at WebFX that can help problem-solve. That’s something we may not have gotten at a smaller firm.

Are there any areas they could improve?

WebFX offers almost everything we could need except for email signature marketing. They do email marketing but not email signature marketing, which would include having a pretty signature, of course, but also a banner advertisement on the bottom to generate clicks back to the website. I’m surprised that they don’t currently offer that.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My team is now spending time adding keywords to target that we should have considered initially. My advice is to spend more time focusing on the ideal keywords at the beginning of the project to avoid a similar situation.

Since we only recently began working together, we don’t have any specific metrics yet. However, we have seen more click-throughs to our site from LinkedIn ads. We see a strong potential ROI for our engagement because our website is more precise and cohesive.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the marketing manager and events coordinator for Morefield Communications, a full-service technology company. We provide technology decisions that enable our clients to access IP services, such as cloud solutions, audio and video solutions, and both cyber and physical security.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with WebFX?

We needed a partner to improve our SEO and PPC in order to drive more clients to our website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first project WebFX worked on was building our landing page.  They then did market research to see what our competitors were marketing on and what our client base was searching for. They used those insights to align our marketing efforts with client needs, working on social media, website language, and technical aspects. SEO and PPC were a major factor of this marketing push.

They also managed a LinkedIn campaign and developed a video that we use to point potential clients to our website. WebFX did some of the artwork for the video design and implemented an email drip campaign that we’ll launch soon. We also have plans for them to revamp our website on WordPress.

What is the team composition?

I work with two people.

How did you come to work with WebFX?

I found a few firms online and also asked for referrals. I met with about four different companies and was impressed by the array of services that WebFX could offer beyond a website redesign. I realized they could help with our language, content, and statistical analysis, so I hired them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been partners since December 2018, and the work is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The results from our SEO work informs how we shape our website, and the PPC lets us see how people are finding us, which we can use to improve the UX. We have new leads coming in because of their work, and both the clickthrough rate and amount of time spent on the site have increased.

How did WebFX perform from a project management standpoint?

They have excellent communication, immediately responding to and following up on my requests. They provide summaries after all of our phone calls so that we can quickly see what we talked about and made plans for. They use Basecamp to track the progress, and we talk daily.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their project management is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. They understand that life can be hectic, so they proactively make sure the project continues to progress, no matter how long we take to get back to them. The team communicates well and is extremely friendly, fostering a partnership that’s thoroughly enjoyable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand the type of videos they’re able to offer.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Keep the lines of communication open and give them as much information as possible. Don’t be afraid to lay out exactly what you’re looking for and how you want your brand to be represented.
