I’m the founder of a mobile employment application software that companies can buy and customize to meet their specific hiring needs.

What challenge were you trying to address with KoderLabs LLC?

I needed an agency to basically build the software from scratch. I had the idea, and I needed someone to provide the tech work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

KoderLabs built the platform and currently provides service and maintenance. The web app is mobile friendly, and it offers a QR code, text number, and/or web link for potential employees to access and apply for a job. Companies go into the software and customize their application with different forms and questions depending on the job they’re hiring for. After people apply, the hiring manager or recruiter goes into the backend and can begin screening and contacting candidates.

KoderLabs used open source code to develop the software and integrated Twilio for the texting functionality. We continue to work on the product and upgrade it as needs and technology change.

What is the team dynamic?

I communicate mainly with KoderLab’s founder, but I occasionally speak with developers if needed.

How did you come to work with KoderLabs LLC?

I vetted numerous companies, but they were either expensive or offshores and hard to communicate with. A colleague in the area had worked with KoderLabs, so I looked into them and hired them.

I’ve spent close to $75,000.

I started working with them in 2013, and we’re still working together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Without them, I wouldn't have a software platform. Whenever a bug pops up, they’re responsive and proactive in getting it fixed, often before I even know it’s broken.

How did KoderLabs LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

We used a project management software that let us both update and review the project, and add notes and documents. They’re responsive and, if they don’t know an answer, they’ll find it for me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The whole team has a wide breadth of knowledge in many different technical areas. They helped me understand things I should look out for, suggested additional features, and really took on the project as an equally-contributing partner.

They're very creative, so listen to their suggestions because they’ll provide some helpful ideas.

TechnBrains provided two developers and one QA resource who worked closely with our in-house team. Their engineers handled frontend components in React, assisted with backend APIs, and supported sprints through code reviews and testing. The engagement included daily standups, sprint planning, and milestone-based delivery.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to hit two major product release deadlines that we would have missed without the extra hands. Velocity improved noticeably, and the team fit in well with our internal workflows.

They integrated into our project management tools without issue and stayed on top of tasks. Communication was clear, and their lead checked in regularly to make sure everything was on track. We didn’t feel like we had to chase them for updates.

A little more overlap with our time zone would have helped with quick turnarounds, but aside from that, it was a pretty smooth engagement.

Weekly updates via spreadsheet were extremely helpful. If I needed an update or clarification sooner, I would ask and receive it. Each big step of the project was delivered with a virtual meeting.

Most items were delivered on time. If they weren't, we would get on a call and the development team would relay the cause of the delay. Communication was very good and delays were all within reason.

We were extremely happy with the final product of the app and the price we paid for this MVP. Also, the development team is outstanding.

The project management team is great. My only suggestion is to keep the same level communication with the client through the project as they had when trying to get us to become clients.

They were thorough and complete. it wasn't quite as responsive as I was hoping as the project did get dragged out. I was okay with it getting dragged out a bit (and some of it was on me being a bit slow to respond) but responses would drag out to the next day too often.
