I am the CEO of Imperio based in Iceland and Norway. We're an IT sourcing company and management consultancy. I mainly source IT projects and fill them with IT specialists from Eastern Europe.

What challenge were you trying to address with SOFTIQ?

The city of Reykjavik — the capital of Iceland — needed to hire a development team consisting of backend and frontend developers and testers. This was a part of a tender that I won, so I had to I source IT specialists from SOFTIQ to fill those positions.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

There are three projects from the City of Reykjavik that the SOFTIQ team has been working on.

One is quite spectacular, as it is funded by a former Mayor in the United States; it's an interrelated project with five other capital cities in the world.

The first project is for financial aid for the welfare department, the second is for school registration, and the final effort is a second project within the welfare department.

The team from SOFTIQ has been divided up to work on all three projects, handling end-to-end development and testing. They have worked on a web app and use React mostly on the frontend, while webMethods makes up the backend.

The City of Reykjavik has provided all the documentation through their IT department. There will also be mobile app development later on.

What is the team composition?

There are 10–12 people on their side, as well as a designated project manager. 

How did you come to work with SOFTIQ?

The trigger for this need was using webMethods on the backend. This particular expertise is hard to find in Iceland and in the Nordics, but I found them in Poland, and they do exceptional work.

I reached out to them after seeing their LinkedIn and reviews on Clutch.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in December 2021. It is a project that will be ongoing until at least the end of 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They are 100% professional in every way. They have exceeded all expectations in every aspect, both for me and for the City of Reykjavik. 

The quality of work has been outstanding. Everything is at the top level.

How did SOFTIQ perform from a project management standpoint?

We use DevOps for communication, with me acting as a high-level project manager. The City of Reykjavik's tech leads are participating in the UI and UX development. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I find that their agility and manner of working stand out the most, as does their technical quality. Flexibility and agility are the most important characteristics for me, and they are able to adjust and deliver.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have not been any issues so far.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The most valuable thing for me has been having an open and honest dialogue about everything. We have been able to build that trust immediately from day one.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The choice was made through an open tender. One of the criteria was the total price and the number of declared hours for development, time to commence work from signing the contract.

The implementation was to maintain the already functioning ESB solution based on the technical documentation presented by the Employer and the possibility of verifying the mechanisms used.

a report on the opening of the acquired solution was prepared. The time has come to optimize the solution and implement additional new functionalities provided for in the Description of the Subject of the Order, however, as life brings, the list of new functionalities in connection with the expansion of the unguarded paid parking zone in the city of Warsaw has significantly expanded by many original ideas.

There are 6 people directly assigned to the project with the Municipal Roads Authority in Warsaw - the Faculty of Computer Science. responsible for maintenance, testing and ICT security and development.

The project run by SOFTIQ is being duly run. The ordering party is fully satisfied with this solution and the service provided by SOFTIQ.

Reliability, testing, behavior between the parties to the contract, competences on the part of SOFTIQ. Creating a partnership between the Ordering Party and the contractor - the SOFTIQ company.

We've initially worked with about 22 members and have downsized the team to eight members as our needs have become less demanding. We have one main point of contact from SOFTIQ's team.

SOFTIQ strategically utilizes the best and latest technology to build our product and make it completely serverless. Their team works hard to deliver our technical goals.

We communicate via Slack and manage the project flow via Confluence. SOFTIQ is an adaptable and collaborative partner — they're always willing to staff up or down to accommodate our changing needs, and they transparently communicate every project phase to our stakeholders.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We're most impressed with their extensive industry knowledge and ability to deliver what they promise.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They had a hard time onboarding new team members because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they were able to overcome that by taking our feedback well.
