Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Slam Media Lab took our PowerBroker 360 curriculum and completely transformed how it looks and feels. When we first reached out, we honestly just thought we needed someone to make sure things were the same size and fix page numbers. What Kyle delivered was so much more than that—it's beautiful, it's consistent, and it actually reflects the strength of what we're teaching.
The project started with a brand sprint where Kyle helped us clarify our tone, visual direction, and what we wanted to keep versus what needed to evolve. He developed a custom color palette designed specifically for PowerBroker 360, presented font pairing options that felt strong and professional, and created initial design treatments that showed us the direction and style. Everything felt aligned with the mindset we teach—power, ownership, work ethic, and resilience. Kyle didn't just make things look nice; he made sure the visual identity reflected the substance of our program.
Kyle designed 35 custom Canva templates for our slides including covers, reflection pages, section dividers, prompts, and more. These weren't just pretty—they were thoughtfully structured so our team could easily plug in content and maintain consistency. The templates are functional, beautiful, and built for us to scale as the program grows. He then took approximately 200 existing slides and adapted them into the new design system. This was tedious work—especially doing page numbers manually one by one in Canva, which we won't talk about—but he handled it with patience and care. The content flow we had built stayed intact, but now it looks inviting, clear, and guides itself visually.
Everything was packaged with brand colors, fonts, and usage notes so our team could manage updates independently. Kyle also showed us the process for swapping elements like QR codes and making design adjustments on our own, which was incredibly helpful. The result is a curriculum that looks as professional and impactful as the content inside. We didn't know what to expect when we started, but where we ended up exceeded our imagination.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The curriculum now looks as strong as the mindset we're teaching. Before, the content was solid but the presentation didn't match the quality of what we were offering young athletes. Now, everything feels cohesive, professional, and intentional. The visual consistency helps guide students through the material, and the design actually supports the learning experience rather than distracting from it.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Slam's project management was seamless from start to finish. From our first conversation with Silvia and Kyle, through the entire process working primarily with Kyle, everything felt easygoing and organized. He was responsive, creative in his thinking, and offered insights we hadn't considered from a visual perspective.
The collaborative part of the process really stood out. Kyle would show us options and explain his reasoning rather than just telling us what wouldn't work. For example, when we wanted to try something that might not translate well visually, he'd say "let me show you what it looks like" rather than just shutting it down. We appreciated that approach—it helped us learn and make better decisions together.
Kyle also stayed flexible when our timeline shifted. We went a little beyond the original timeline, but he was patient and committed to getting everything right. He never made us feel rushed, and he genuinely cared about the final product. When we needed to pause or adjust, he accommodated without complaint.
What was your primary form of communication with Slam Media Lab?
Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What stood out most was how much Slam cared about getting this right. They didn't just treat this like another design project, they took time to understand what we were building, who we were serving, and why it mattered. Even though he admitted upfront that he wasn't that versed in sports, he learned alongside us and brought all our expertise together into something better than we could have created separately.
We felt like part of the team, not just a hired designer. Kyle from Slam had ownership over the project and was genuinely invested in the outcome. We were afraid that the content flow wouldn't land in the new design, Kyle knocked it out of the park and even taught her something about how flexible content can be when design supports it properly. His creativity was remarkable. We came in thinking we needed basic formatting help, and Kyle transformed our vision into something we didn't even know was possible. The way he combined design and education, creating something that's both beautiful and functional for learning, showed real expertise and thoughtfulness.
He was also just incredibly pleasant to work with. Patient, collaborative, responsive, and always willing to jump on calls or answer questions. It felt like working with someone who genuinely enjoyed the work and wanted us to succeed.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Slam Media Lab could have done differently?
Honestly, we had an excellent experience. Slam delivered everything we asked for and then some. The iterative process worked really well—we shared feedback throughout, and Kyle from Slam incorporated it thoughtfully while explaining his design decisions along the way.
If anything, we wish we had reached out to Slam sooner. We spent too long trying to figure out the design ourselves when we should have just brought in experts from the start. This whole process reminded us that sometimes you need to trust the professionals and let them do what they do best.
