The team developed our web platform using Laravel. We explained what functionalities we wanted, but the first step was us approving the pricing.

After we started working, they had tips and different approaches for the project. Any patient can log into the platform. They can book an appointment with the doctor or online video consultation.

Phase one is completed, and now we have to think about the mobile app before we start working again.

They perform their tasks. The designer did what he was supposed to do, and we had many calls with their developers.

Before proceeding with functionality, they asked us many questions. With their help, we figured out the details of what we wanted. We used Jira, and the communication approach is good.

I really liked the discussions with the project manager. They gave me tips on what to do and not do.

I am the head of product at nGAGE Specialist Recruitment, a recruitment business in the UK, Europe, and the US.

What challenge were you trying to address with Roweb Development?

We bought a cut of code in a vendor managed system (VMS). The system allowed clients to create a job online and distribute it to a number of recruiters or suppliers, and they would submit candidates back. Although the code was already developed, it had a significant number of issues. We needed a development team to address each issue and rebrand the platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Over the last six years, they've been involved in our ongoing development cycles. We've created a direct engagement model. They also designed and built complex technology that automatically applies value-added tax to the right invoices. 

A couple of years ago, we started working with a new client who wanted to restructure how the technology operated. While our platform allows supplier management via a central party, this client wanted to completely devolve that to the manager level. Roweb Development helped us build that system while featuring various functionality requests.

They also used Bootstrap 4 to build two responsive mobile app versions of the desktop system. 

Now we're working on a separate automation project. This feature will automate tasks like emailing a candidate about interview details or receiving feedback. 

What is the team composition?

We work with a team of eight developers. We have one project manager/system architect that sits at the top of their team. Underneath them, we have developers who are dedicated to certain technologies. We've had a dedicated team of three on our main technology, VMS-365, and we've brought in 4–5 other developers to work on the other technologies as needed. 

How did you come to work with Roweb Development?

A friend of our CEO worked with them in the past and recommended them to us. We've considered other developers, but we kept coming back to Roweb Development because they know our business model so well. They were always working towards our business goals with us. They really honed in on the way that we do our development specifications and designs. We really found a way for our teams to work effectively and how to get the most out of our engagement.

It is probably between €400,000–€500,000 (approximately $470,000–$58,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

I think we started working with them in August 2013, and we are still working together. They are still coming up with new ideas and new developments.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've secured big client wins because of their work. One particular contract helped us earn around £40 million (approximately $51 million USD), so the return on our investment has been huge. We wouldn't have won that contract without Roweb Development's work. 

Roweb Development helped us win another £30 million (approximately $40 million USD) contract by developing and building a new feature into our technology. 

Roweb Development helps us save our clients 5% or 10% of their spending. In some cases, we've been able to save hospitals millions of pounds on temporary workers.

We wouldn’t have been able to do any of that without the technology that Roweb Development has created.

How did Roweb Development perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication has been excellent and they manage sprints well. However, we have to keep them on task and on schedule. They like things to be absolutely perfect and so they will keep developing until we tell them to stop. If it is an MVP, we will ask them if will it work right now, and to get it out. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Whenever we approach Roweb Development with a brand-new challenge, they always ask the right questions and want to know how it will affect different aspects of the system. If our specifications aren’t up to scratch, they ask us questions and let us know that they don’t really understand it.

We've been impressed that they've understood our taxing mechanisms even though English isn't their first language. On top of that, they can actually deliver. I think that is incredibly impressive.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve on their timeline estimates. If they can, they will spend more time going into absolutely every single detail of the project. Although we appreciate their attention to detail, it can delay our timeline. They could be better at meeting deadlines so we can go live on time.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Before COVID-19, I would have said to make sure that you go and meet with them face to face, but there are fewer opportunities to go and do that now. You can still have a video call to cover your short-term and long-term goals. They respond well when you provide context for the problems you're trying to solve.

They built a new custom web application that allows us to manage our clients. There are 12 apps that plug into the platform, ranging from a simple personality measure to complex apps with several applications within them.

There are five people on their team. I have an external resource who works closely with them and translates my needs to their team.

They were referred by someone who had worked with them, and gave very positive reviews.

We worked on the bulk of the project from November 2019 – July 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We are pleased with the work they’ve done. We watched their responsiveness when something wasn’t working and how quickly they turned it around. We wanted to see how closely they delivered to our specifications in the first drafts, and also that they delivered on time and within budget.

How did Roweb Development perform from a project management standpoint?

They were really good, and I liked working with them. We had morning huddles to discuss highlights, blocks, and the daily agenda. They’re very responsive. We have a process for feedback during testing that works quite well. We communicate via Slack, and I can communicate directly with the team if I need to.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good at coming up with solutions. I appreciate their responsiveness, as well as their ability to think and ask questions before implementing changes. It is much better than other experiences I’ve had with other vendors in the past. They also pushed through when we had some obviously tedious tasks, and worked hard to complete them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have implemented business rules where I haven’t set one. It has caused some issue, but it was really a learning process for both of us.

Involve them early in the scoping of the project so they can ask their questions. Don’t impose a timeline, but rather allow them to tell you how long it will take to complete.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Roweb Development built a mobile application for Android devices and a webpage for Google Chrome using PHP language. It can send notifications to client managers in order to inform them of upcoming needs. The backend API functions to connect the app and the database. They’ve also maintained updates for the app and the website.

There was a team of 50 people, including the project manager, Florin (Developer, Roweb Development), Catlin (Web Software Developer, Roweb Development) who was my contact for mobile app support, and Ghitun (PHP Developer, Roweb Development) who was my contact for API and web development.

The feedback from the users is very positive. They like that the process is streamlined. Roweb Development provides monthly data extracts and statistical reports showing the main issues regarding health and safety.

The communication was very good. Occasionally, timelines were pushed back because of other projects we had them working on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were able to deliver everything we asked of them. The team was very accommodating.

Are there any areas they could improve?

For a short time, they changed my contact person for the mobile app. I was not happy with our level of communication. However, when I asked if we could work with our previous contact again, the project manager complied, and communication improved once again.

They can do anything needed, but there are some things that clients may not think of or anticipate. Allow them to have input initially to avoid having to fine-tune things in the middle of the project.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Roweb was instrumental in this development. Thanks to the application, we now have over 50% market share in the Belgium market and start expand to other countries.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The management was split between Belgium and Romania. Belgian engineers made a daily follow up of the work using Scrum recently to improve the methodology.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The technical and communication skills are impressive. Roweb always finds the right people to help you. We never had the impression they would let us down.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really, you could say that a closer follow up by they management could be used but this would not really be effective because you have to know the business very wel to pilot the engineers so it was better done by our people. Reporting about the planning and the daily work could be improved a bit.

I am the IT Administrator for 2 companies owned by the same person. One company sells cars for Export, the other one sells cars for the Danish market. I am responsable with the database and web development.

Challenge : Creating many new websites, connecting them to our Microsoft Dynamics CRM, creating API's , creating ads tool, etc... Opportunity : We needed to rebrand ourselves, thus changing all the current websites, processes, and other important issues. Almost all the web development part was handled by RoWeb and they have helped us to improve / manage all the solutions in really good time

The goals were to create 4/5 new websites, based on different solutions. We have 3 websites build on Umbraco (ASP) and 1 website build on Magento (PHP). We have custom integrations with the Danish Auto Registry, we have integrations with our Dynamics CRM 365 database, we have integration to other 3rd parties , and so on.

We have selected RoWeb because of their their solutions, competent team, availability, time solving issues, and other factors. They have knowledge in mostly all the web development platforms and we can use in every way possible.

We have considered many other companies, but RoWeb was the only company that was 100% focused on every solutions/integration that we had required I was involved in the selection process, together with our CEO. We have choosen them based on the : knowledge / availability / financial / and many other factors.

We had 2 different websites, and we wanted to change them completely, with extra features. We have contributed with guidelines and they also have done the same.

The vendor was responsable for the complete overhaul of these website, from start to end, and we are still using them for extra fetuares and technical support. They have also provided for Graphical interfaces , design and implementation.

I was the first one involved in all the projects. Than in time we have separated them for other users in the company to be in charge of sepecific projects. The size of the team has changed in time.

The impact of the new projects was huge. We have gained many new customers , our efficiency was improved , our costs have decresed, our staff has decresed because of the automated processes. Our costs went down really much , we have the most flexible, responsive websites comapred to our competitors.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The Project Management was handled by our team and their Project manager (who was involved in all the projects). The collaboration was a little bit complicated in the beginning , but it went up and it'sgood now.

The deadlines were handled in the correct way, some of them passed the deadline date, we have given them extra things during the entire project, and the deadline was passed. For communication we have used Skype , Outlook and Microsoft Teams.

We did not experience issues regarding the language barrier, based on the fact that every person we have been in contact with understood really good the requirements / technical problems/ integrations, based on the fact that everybody is really good in english, both writting and speaking.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Even if we add requirements to the project last minute, they are always able to resolve the issues very quickly.

They are experienced in all the developing languages / tools we needed to use, and really capable / skilled. Besides other vendors they were distinguished by : capabilities / knowledge / team / skills / availability / and many more.
