I'm one of the co-founders of a small marketing consulting agency. We work in the retail and healthcare spaces by advising clients on marketing and media strategy. Our two managing partners each have almost 20 years of marketing and media experience.

From time to time, our clients ask us to advise them on the execution component of our strategy. As a small consulting agency, we don't have the scale, the bandwidth, or the expertise to handle the day-to-day management.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Propellant Media helps us with managing and executing tactical projects for our clients. Many of our clients are trying to increase their customer base or patient base. We partner with Propellant Media on using various media platforms such as Facebook, display campaigns, and search engine marketing. They look at the landscape of what's possible given the client's goals and put together projects and plans. In some cases these might be short-term pilots to test and determine if these are viable channels for a client. In other cases the client has established viable channels and wants to get those channels to the next level. 

Propellant Media helps us set messaging strategy. They’ll determine who the ideal customers and clients are for each client. Then we work together to set up campaigns. They lead on the technology side to make sure everything gets tracked properly. They ensure we can see things not just from a lead generation standpoint but which tactics are actually converting into new customers and/or patients.

We have an assigned project lead as our main point of contact. That person plays a hybrid role as they’re also a specialist who executes portions of the work. 

How did you come to work with Propellant Media? 

I’ve had a longstanding relationship with was one of the principals at Propellant Media. While there are many agencies and firms that can execute this kind of work, it was a pretty easy decision to make given our history. We were quite confident that they'd be the right partner for us to work with.

We started working together about a year and a half ago and the engagement is ongoing.

They do a fantastic job with project execution. Propellant Media enables us to take our vision and turn it into material work for our clients. They’ve helped us be successful and to translate that into client success. That makes them an important partner and a true member of our team. Our satisfaction goes all the way through to the end client.

How did Propellant Media perform from a project management standpoint? 

Their team is top notch. Their level of expertise and the level of service are both so high. It's not uncommon for us to get immediate turnaround. They're aware of our high priority items and the responsiveness is excellent. We never want to bother people after hours or on weekends but sometimes it's necessary. Propellant Media is always a text or a phone call or an email away. It's great to know that they’re there when we need it. 

I like that there's not a lot of buffer or a middle person in between us and their experts. It's nice to have direct access and be able to work with the team members who execute the work. The way they're set up is nice so that we work with someone who's highly technical and analytical, but also understands how media works. Our lead knows how to translate the work so it makes sense for somebody who may not be as technical. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Their quality, attention to detail, and level of expertise is most impressive. It's clear that they've got passion for the work. Propellant Media is willing to go above and beyond when needed, which is invaluable for us. Their reliability from a communications standpoint is extremely important as well. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. Any hiccups are rare but they always own it when it happens. Issues get resolved quickly. There are no systematic issues or serious problems that we've encountered. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

Be willing and prepared for open and honest communication. Their team is made up of straightforward individuals, which we really appreciate. That style of communication helps you get to your end goal quickly. If that’s something you appreciate, Propellant Media will be a good option for you.

I am the founder and president of Undisputed Locations, a marketing agency. We specialize in branding services, but also offer marketing consulting and creative strategy services.

As a Google Ad Grant recipient, we are required to monitor specific SEO metrics for our clients each month. We are a small business with multiple patrons, so we decided to outsource some of our digital marketing tasks to another company.

Propellant Media has helped us with a variety of projects over the past five years. For most of our clients, they implement SEO best practices and monitor their impact on the media channels. We typically give them a list of keywords, which they often modify to coordinate with seasonal events. Another task required them to manage an Amazon Media on Demand account and purchase media through the platform. They have also helped us with geo-fencing and other experimental marketing tactics. At the end of each month, they prepare a detailed analytics report with five key points to explain the numbers.

Frankly, no. I think they do an excellent job and hope to continue working with them.

If they’re my competitor, I wouldn’t want them to work with them. But if it’s just another business, I would recommend hiring Propellant Media because of their knowledge and software tracking. They offer advice on how to make campaigns successful.

I’m familiar with the system they’re using on the backend, so I formulate and manage my own strategy while using them to ensure its effectiveness. As a trusted business partner, Justin and his team help review and analyze campaign results and develop action items to deliver short-term and long-term improvements.

I work directly with Justin because of our existing relationship. They also assign a team to each of my projects to manage day-to-day tasks.

My client met their admission goal two years in a row, and I was able to show them exactly how many people came into their office after viewing or clicking on Propellant Media’s ads.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The Propellant support team is responsive when I need them, but I’m also familiar with their system so I can make changes to the campaigns independently as well.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It’s very hard to find someone with Justin’s background, experience, and skill in this industry. And he has the work ethic to match. His opinions and thought process are invaluable.

I think their support group would benefit from additional project management training.

I’m the CEO of Omnitized, a digital marketing agency. We specialize in paid search, SEO, programmatic display, programmatic video, social media, targeted Facebook ads, reputation management, recruitment specialists, and anything to do with digital marketing.

What challenge were you trying to address with Propellant Media?

We needed help with programmatic marketing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handle almost all of our programmatic display and video campaigns, especially in terms of geofencing, which is targeting specific locations. It’s location-based advertising that markets to people on their mobile devices when they walk in and out of a particular GPS coordinate or within a shape that we can draw on Google Maps. They do contextual advertising and behavioral marketing as well.

What is the team composition?

I work with Justin (Managing Partner, Propellant Media) because we’re both the owners of our companies. When it gets down to the granular marketing needs of our clients, I work with Brent (Vice President, Propellant Media) who has been outstanding.

How did you come to work with Propellant Media?

We reached out to a programmatic display advertising network called Simplify, but we didn’t reach their minimum client load as we were so new. Propellant Media had a relationship with Simplify that would allow us to work through them with smaller buys until then. Though we’ve reached the minimums, we continue to work with Justin and his team because they’re very thorough, super professional, and we really like the results.

Propellant Media immediately they understood precisely what the goals and the missions of what our campaigns were going to do for our clients. The general care that they have given us and the speed at which they work is wonderful. When it comes to goals, lead acquisitions, impression shares, or targeting, they know it better than anyone. It’s been a pleasure to work with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve added a whole new line of business to our company, helping us acquire clients that are looking for some of these programmatic options. That, in turn, leads to other services, including social media management, reputation management, and SEO. In some instances, they’ve helped us launch good trustworthy, productive, progressive, and successful campaigns for new clients.

We trust them with some of our long-time clients, as well as our more newly-acquired clients; huge brands and names. They’ve been outstanding in execution.

How did Propellant Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They make sure that we track and tag everything properly. Brent is very quick to respond, and they’ve all been fantastic; much faster than anyone at any other agency I’ve dealt with. They also give recommendations on creative, targets, timelines, and technical elements. It works in the best interest of our agency, our clients, and is good business. We love to lean on them when it comes to these kinds of campaigns, as they’re outstanding.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their knowledge of the digital marketing space is so crucial, which leads back into their speed and ability to meet deadlines. On the execution side, they are nimble and able to change things on the fly, while adding value to our campaigns.

I would like to provide some constructive feedback, but they really know what they’re doing.

Allow the agency to be nimble—we work in a fast-paced environment, looking at real-time analytics and data. If the digital marketing agency can make decisions on their client’s behalf, they will succeed at far greater distances.
