I'm the CIO for Think Better Group which has connection to multiple DTC brands, all of which are very focused on doing better by our environment and at the same time creating market leading products.

We have a custom built mobile applications and needed development support in order to deliver on key products on our roadmap. This was an exciting step for us and while we did consider to work on a project basis we decided to engage a developer on a full time contract style engagement.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

It is a very specialised field and never easy finding good React Native developers so after talking with a number of companies and testing various individuals we settled on working with ProCoders.

We work daily with our developer and team member via any method of communication we select and also have a very active account manager to make sure that all is on track and we are happy with the work quality and execution.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are very happy with the service and while the process takes some time to get our new team member up to speed with our code we then can move forwards with consistent deliverables unlike jumping between different contractors when in project situations.

Efficient and process driven plus where they can, always trying to value add and do not get sensitive if we decide to maintain planned direction.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Communication and the desire to make the partnership work. It is a long term play which ProCoders understand and therefore you get the attention you need to try and make the most from the relationship.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At this point there is nothing that really needs attention. We are continuing the relationship and therefore growing the knowledge base which should help deliver even more.

I’m the CTO of a digital signage service provider, and we provide end-to-end solutions for digital signage.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ProCoders?

We’re always challenged with the decision of whether to fix legacy software or do new development. At times, we work with existing projects with existing clients, and other times we work with new development for new clients — sometimes those collide a bit where we need to work with existing clients and bring new clients on board.

It’s not always possible for us to handle all of it ourselves, so we needed a company to provide us with staff augmentation.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We use them for staff augmentation in situations where we need additional resources on very short notice. I view the resources we get from them as an extension of my existing team, as they help with the development of our existing solutions. We also use some of their developers at very short notice for custom development for customers such as integrations, custom solutions, etc. 

They can do work that we don’t have time to do ourselves, as well as the planning and development work.

What is the team composition?

There are four people involved and I collaborate mostly with those who do the overall project management pieces for us, while my team members work directly with their coders.

How did you come to work with ProCoders?

We were in a three-month process to find a nearshore partner that we could work with long-term. We vetted 7-8 different vendors and found one vendor, but our engagement with them was too small. They were looking for an engagement of 10+ coders, so they passed the opportunity down to ProCoders — one of their collaborative partners.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2021, and our partnership is still ongoing. We have a one-year contract with an option for extensions.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Success is measured in multiple different ways, such as the overall relationship with the vendor, and the timeliness of them getting back what we request — they always get back to us the same day. We also measure the success against the speed of our bi-weekly sprints, because all of our development is sprint planned. 

If they’re able to deliver the code and close down the user stories we have in a sprint, we consider that as success in terms of meeting the requirements in that specific sprint. There are also other factors to measure the quality of work, like if the QA of the code is actually working for us — that’s measured by the manager as the project lead for this project.

How did ProCoders perform from a project management standpoint?

The project management has been excellent as they’ve been more proactive in this than we have. They reach out to us more frequently than we do to them, to ensure that we’re happy with the work being delivered, and that everything is working with the coder — moreover, we have trial periods with the coders that were brought in for different projects. 

ProCoders also provide a lot of guidance for us, especially in situations where we don’t have the time to do full-fledged project management. They took over those pieces, came with suggestions, and helped with planning. We use Jira and Microsoft Teams as our primary tools for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We like that they pay close attention to detail and they’re committed to the task at hand. The trust built between them and us in a very short period of time really makes them stand out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There isn’t much they can do to improve. I’m very satisfied with their skill level of communication and timeliness — I don’t like surprises and they’ve always kept their word and there have never been any billing issues. They’re also very flexible in times we’ve had staff shortages especially due to COVID-19.

This is impressive because they’ve also had shortages on their end due to unforeseen situations, and what I like about that is they always presented that to us and brought solutions — I like the proactive approach that they have.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You’ll have a more successful engagement by not coming with a blank sheet of paper. The more prepared you are as a client, the faster you’ll get up to speed, and the more planning you’ve done prior to the engagement, the easier it will be for you to get started.

I’m the executive and manager of Super Express. We’re an online supermarket.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ProCoders?

We hired ProCoders to help us with two big development projects. The first one was an iOS and Android application. The second one was a website for all devices, including desktops, tablets, and iPads.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, ProCoders did the research and analysis. We explained our idea, what we could do, and how we wanted to operate our business. After approximately a month and a half, they gave us a proposal and explained how they were going to work. We accepted the proposal and went ahead with this great opportunity.

During the process, we decided to change our strategy and extend the products we offer to make it a really big online supermarket. We added groceries, beverages, and everything that you can find in a regular supermarket.

Together, we’re developing our app and website from scratch. The app is working perfectly on Android devices, and we’re getting the final approval for iOS devices on the App store. We already went live, but we’re still in the very first stages of the project.

Since we’re changing our strategy internally in the company, we have plans to upgrade certain aspects and change the database. ProCoders is going to help us make those upgrades and suggestions.

What is the team composition?

We started with a team of 5–6 people, but now we are working with at least 10 people. We work with the CMO, one designer, one QA, a few developers, and other team members. I don’t remember exactly because I only worked with them during the first stage of the project. Now, our IT director manages their team.

How did you come to work with ProCoders?

Around 17–18 years ago, I worked in the high-tech industry. Therefore, I had a lot of connections. I knew the founder of a big high-tech Israeli company. I asked him for advice on how to do the work and make all of the strategies and he referred me to ProCoders to be in good hands.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $70,000–$90,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We first spoke with ProCoders in July 2020. However, it wasn’t until September 2020 that we started the research and our partnership. We’re still working on the project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we decided to make some changes, all the problems we’ve had came from our side. However, they’ve always helped us to manage everything fast and in the proper way.

Also, we just started our analysis on the website traffic. We do not have any information yet on how we are doing since we just opened.

How did ProCoders perform from a project management standpoint?

The CMO has explained the role of each team member to us, which has made the process very professional from the beginning. He also keeps me updated on who is doing what type of work. All of the information is shared in case we want to change something on their team.

We do 30-minute Zoom meetings three times a week. If there are issues related to funds or any other important matters that need to be solved, I contact the CMO directly and discuss them over the phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

ProCoders is very responsible. In Portugal, the market is a little tough. Therefore, to implement a platform that already exists in the US or other countries in Europe can be different. However, their team has a lot of very creative ideas. If we have any problem or question, they give us an answer or solution to it, which is really brilliant.

Are there any areas they could improve?

ProCoders needs to get more projects and get more experience in different situations. That way, when somebody asks them a question, they can provide a solution.

Any advice for potential customers?

ProCoders works with the European and American markets. From a financial point of view, that makes doing all of the financial interconnections very easy since they use both Euros and Dollars. That way, whoever makes the financial arrangements won’t get any headache with currency exchange. I think this is really flexible, good, and easy.

Additionally, they speak English. Therefore, they can communicate with the international community.

I’m the head of Engineering at SIRL, a retail tech company, providing indoor GPS solutions and analytics, responsible for SW development including Firmware, Mobile, Backend, and Web Development.

The short term goals were to add a developer to our backend team.

How did you select ProCoders?

Using CLUTCH I reviewed multiple companies focusing on cost and providing staff augmentation as a primary service. Most companies were project based, but I reached out to ProCoders and one other company that had good reviews around augmentation. After speaking with George, I decided to team with ProCoders for my company's first journey into augmentation as the team at ProCoders seemed flexible (which we need as an early startup), in our price point, and easy to communicate with.

The key deliverable is adding a developer to participate as a team member, delivering on daily-weekly deliverables. There was an initial onboarding project broken into multiple steps, that the PC resource was able to deliver on. For backend development we use NodeJS, Loopback, ElasticSearch, Postgres, and AWS.

Currently we have 1, Intermediate Backend Developer working with us through Pro-Coders

The resource is performing and contributing to sprints.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It has been effective, after on-boarding our resource, there has been occasional checkins, but for the most part we are just getting things done.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

ProCoders' onboarding process for the intermediate resource is impressive. We were borderline on the initial interview, but George, thinking it was a good fit, stepped up and worked with us to develop a trial process, to test out the candidate on an initial project which allowed us the flexibility to try out the developer, to the benefit of all.

Not yet, flexibility has been king for us, and they have delivered

We were struggling with making a lot of changes and creating pages for our website and I got a recommendation over Pro Coders. Our goals were having a partner that we can work with for the long run and have as an external services for our web creation tasks.

Pro coders seemed to be very dedicated and have a big team that can help us with urgent tasks and ongoing tasks while needed. We've got a recommendation from another company that works with Pro Coders and we are very pleased with them!

I am the CEO of Mobility Furniture Comparison, we run a series of umbrella websites that operate in the mobility market.

So we are launching a website under the brand name of Money Saving Stairlifts to run along side our current website Stairlifts Comparison. We are looking at running an additional PPC campaign to compete against the Stairlifts Comparison site. I needed Pro Coders to design a modern and bespoke design concept that would generate leads at a lower cost to click ratio on the Stairlifts Comparison site.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to be able to see a clear graph of data showing that the Money Saving Stairlifts site would outperform the current website on leads generated.

SOLUTION

How did you select ProCoders?

I found ProCoders on Upwork, this company inspires confidence with high ratings and a good level of communication.

Describe the project in detail.

I needed to improve my existing site. And the first thing we started with was discussing the details of the project, and researching it. The project has its own subtleties and a specific target audience, it is very important to take this into account. Mockups and UI kit were made, then the design was approved by me and the next stage of visualization began. After doing the desktop version the mobile version was made too, including style guides.

What was the team composition?

I worked with Ann. She is UI/UX designer. There was also Andrii is an assistant and Oleg is the founder of ProCoders.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Honestly at this stage I can't provide this data, and the task I have given to Pro coders was only to design the website I use a different freelancer to build and code the site and he's currently building it as we speak.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

So honestly everything was so smooth and easy I (Henry CEO) was running the project and was solely communicating with Ann the designer, it was nice and simple to just deal with one person as I knew that my vision was going to be in the hands of Ann.

In the past many design agencies out farm the work to less skilled designers to maximise profit. With Pro Coders Ann was always available when I wanted to ask for a design update, check if everything was on time and so on.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive part of working with Pro Coders is the connection I have built with Ann who was the designer I worked closely with on my project. We had our zoom call, where we went over my ideas of what I want to achieve with her and how this website was going to look.

We then moved onto the Upwork messaging platform where I gave her my design mockup and she worked off my document ran competitive Analytics from market segments similar to my market, and she innovated my ideas and added in her own ideas.

This thing I felt why this project was such a success was that Ann can read my mind. We've worked with many designers and they don't understand our brand and vision for the project like ProCoder does. They have the qualities to be a huge asset.

Of course, there was a design that I wanted to change, but these moments were successfully improved during work and communication. Any product can be improved, we will definitely take care of this and as new trends come out, we will improve the website.

I am the MD of Same Day Courier Network LTD (SDCN). wwwsamedaycouriernetwork.com is a transport trading exchange platform for couriers, hauliers, shippers and freight forwarders across the UK and Europe.

SDCN is a membership subscription platform which allows our members to post loads they need to subcontract to other transport professionals and members to quote for any suitable loads to improve their efficiency and maximise their profits. The platform allows members to not only interact regarding available loads, but for members to upload POD's, invoice for work carried out and leave feedback for each others performance.

For what projects/services did your company hire ProCoders?

The SDCN needs constant maintenance and development to further enhance the functionality and performance. We also have an APP to track members and send notifications for suitable loads, this also needs ongoing maintenance and development to enhance its features and benefit SDCN members further.

What were your goals for this project?

We have integration projects with third parties such as courier software companies, partner companies in insurance and telematics, CRM software and payment gateways for the subscription. We are also building a live availability feature with in the app to assist members with loads more easily.

After extensive research for a company specialising in the Laravel technology who also offer guidance to enhance our members user ability and experience.

We visited, and were welcomed and looked after fantastically during our stay in Ukraine.

Procoders very quickly understood the platform and what we are looking to achieve. They also offered many great ideas to enhance the user experience. We identified many small improvements to be made as well larger essential development projects mentioned earlier.

We have a fantastic team looking us from customer services, front and back end developers, and a team who look for improvements for the both our admin side and the users experience.

We have released many improvements in the back end to help our staff as well integrating with third party courier software companies to improve the experience for members posting loads.

We are nearly finished with a large integration project with Stripe to link subscriptions rather than us managing separately. The first 12 months have been very productive and communication has been excellent.

We are still working on the project and plan to have the first release of the Beta at the end of January 2021 and the full release by the end of Q1 2021.

The team at Procoders always checks progress with us and is very responsive. The time difference is not an issue at all but an advantage. Deadlines are always met. We communicate via email, slack and jira.

I am the Operations Director for a digital product consultancy firm.

We are building a bespoke web app product to allow customers to order food & drink remotely in bars & hotels, either to their tables or to the room. The backend product needs to have the ability to integrate with several payment platforms as well as ordering services.

How did you select ProCoders and what were the deciding factors?

We researched their previous clients and platforms and then went through a series of interviews to ascertain their technical ability level.

We undertook the initial consultation, design and system architecture phase of the project before the build phase commenced. The platform was to utilise a PHP backend framework and PWA frontend using NodeJS

The product has gone through build and is in the QA phase. This was done in a timely manor due to the input from ProCoders.

The developer we worked with slotted in seamlessly into our team - attending virtual stand-ups and retrospectives via Zoom & Slack.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The initial communication was easy and we were able to have very constructive talks from the outset. Their development skill level ensured they could contribute effectively to the project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We would look to have an ongoing relationship with them and any usual teething issues from the initial project will be ironed out.
