Precept Partners is an end-to-end Internet development and marketing firm. We’ve been heavily engaged in the web since it began. We consult e-commerce companies, develop websites, and provide Internet marketing. Our specialty is e-commerce sales conversion optimization and SEO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pixlogix?

We hire out pieces of projects to them. We have two other firms we also outsource to and the rest we do in-house.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We found that Pixlogix’s specialty is responsive design elements. They also know mobile really well. They can work across multiple platforms. They are good with WordPress, Magento, Drupal, Bootstrap, etc.

What is the team dynamic?

I work with Samir [CEO, Pixlogix] in terms of detailing the overview of the project. Then he divides the project up to his sub-developers and we work with the developers as needed.

How did you come to work with Pixlogix?

We went through an RFP/RFQ process. We searched design directories. I did a test project to find out how they communicate, how fast they can turn around a project, and what the cost benefit is.

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent $50,000–$200,000 with them.

We started working with them in July 2013.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Responsive design is very important to us, so I measure load times. We did a recent project with Google and interfaced four Google developers with the Pixlogix team and optimized the site. We were able to dramatically improve load time for them. We have different metrics that we use internally to measure. We have a number of SEO tools and Google Webmaster tools that we use.

How did Pixlogix perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re great communicators and are very accessible. They’re also very cost competitive. We use Skype, phone, and email to communicate. Having worked with other Indian shops, Pixlogix gets an A.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by their quality of work and attention to detail. I give them a project and they not only meet the project parameter but go beyond. That is something I look for in a developer.

We have come to a trusting relationship with them. Samir has been a great resource. We find the work is comprehensive. We’re detailed oriented in terms of all the parameters that we need. They have good core competencies and a good programming team. I have great confidence in them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

All I can say is continue to build their staff and do what they’re doing. I’m impressed with them and have no problem with them.

I’ve been burned by more developers than I care to count. But Pixlogix? They came through like no one else.

They’re not the cheapest option out there—but they’re the best. Period. They took on my massive, complex site and nailed it. On time, on point, and better than I imagined.

Don’t waste time (or money) on anyone else. Samir, Chanda, and PM are the real deal.

I was looking for a new company to take over my new site that had launched about 2 months prior. I wasn’t loving the customer service after launch, plus a minor bug in the site revealed itself. The company couldn’t see it, but almost every one I sent the link to experienced the same issue. To make a long story short, they kept telling me that their developers have looked into it and have “fixed the issue.” Yet, I was still having the problem. After a week of complaining, all they could say was they don’t see the issue, but will continue to work on it.

I took about 20 zoom meetings from companies. My meeting with Pixlogix was professional, and I wasn’t expecting 5 or 6 people to be on the call, but only interacted with one. The others were there to listen. We ended the call fine, but still wasn’t sure whom to go with, while continuing  taking more zooms. They were diligent in following up, even offering to try and fix my current issue at no charge. I didn’t jump at the opportunity as they were still new, and giving my back end credentials to a company I just met was unsettling. But as the email communications continued, they offered to do a screen share to look into the issue, with me controlling the back end, which I was going to do. But as the communication continued, and reading the several dozen reviews of the company, I decided to give them the log in. Within the hour the issue was solved. I’ve not yet officially hired them to take over my site, but certainly plan to.
Pixlogix is very affordable and certainly worth checking out and hiring.

We came to Pixlogix with the idea for our graphics platform and all the designs were done, and they put us through a pretty extensive process to settle on exactly what the web app would do. We had a dream list and then cut it down based on our budget. They, they built out the entire functionality of the app including account sign-up, profile creation, messaging, and approval and denial of specific users. The work on the platform is ongoing.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

People are signing up for the app, but I don’t have too many specifics as we launched recently. We’re working with a city agency fairly closely on the project, and all of the social workers and folks in that organization are excited about the product. They’re hoping we can expand the functionality of the app to include all the different types of housing that they offer. It’s going to make their jobs easier.

First, we communicate over email. They are always very fast to reply; we can expect a reply the next day. Second, we have phone calls every other week, and those are always on time. Pixlogix always has a plan of what we will talk about.

Pixlogix is good about coming up with alternatives for technology when we encounter problems. We bring them a problem and our suggested solution, and they come up with a solution that will be more affordable for us. They let us go with either option, but they always provide alternatives.

The truth is that, with any project that’s as big and time consuming as this one has been, there are going to be miscommunications. No one is going to do the work perfectly; our engagement has been as good as you can expect.
