Audit process started with a series of workshops and stakeholder calls with input from the sales and product teams, senior management team and their external digital marketing agency. 

These conversations, combined with Open Velocity's research on the competitor landscape, enabled them to analyse and score the existing sales and marketing activity in four broad capability categories, which themselves broke down into eleven more specific sales and marketing criteria:

Hosting and managed services provision is a saturated landscape, with major players taking dominant positions in an increasingly commoditised market. While we had previously grown through customer referral and historic marketing, we had a concern that our positioning and messaging had become increasingly undifferentiated in a sea of sameness. 

While our website had some visibility on best-fit customers, we we're not optimised via our website or marketing to attract these customers - lacking clear messaging that firmly captured the attention of a target audience. We engaged Open Velocity to help refine our audience targeting and create a positioning strategy to put our business’ strengths front and centre while standing out from the crowd. This positioning project provided the foundations for the redevelopment of the 34SP website.

We wanted to create a marketing strategy that would match our ambitious growth aspirations and articulate exactly how we would define, reach and convert our best-fit customers. Whilst we had internal expertise to support a marketing strategy rollout, we looked for external support to assist us in ensuring the strategy was deployed efficiently on the marketing channels that would drive the greatest return.

Open Velocity worked with our internal marketing team to provide marketing leadership and strategic support, helping us to translate commercial goals into a scalable marketing strategy. This included a full review of ICPs, personas, positioning, commercial goals and messaging. Open Velocity also helped us to translate this strategy into action by advising and co-creating a fully-resourced marketing plan.

Working together with Open Velocity and our overall objective was to drive traffic to our website and therefore increase conversions. We did this through a number of ways, relying on data and research to make improvements to our local SEO strategy, make improvements to the user experience of the overall website and increase visibility - both organically and through paid search.

• Performance across the website increased substantially, and a joint strategy making improvements to both organic search and paid search increased site traffic and visibility across key search engines.

They were super efficient and would respond to all requests - no matter how big or small - very quickly. If there was a time when they couldn't jump on a call straight away, they would come back with a thought-out and helpful response via email and then arrange a follow-up call, if required, later on. 

They took the time to understand the concerns and would always come back with a formulated and clear strategy that made sense and helped in achieving buy-in from other stakeholders.

Open Velocity is clearly very knowledgable, it was great to have one key contact - who not only project managed, but got involved in all aspects of the work. Having that overall involvement increased the scope of the project and we could quickly make further improvements. It also meant that they had a much better understanding of the wider running of the business and could help us to replicate similar strategies across other areas of the company.
