I am a creative director for thelab in charge of the Tempur/Sealy account. Our agency focuses on ecommerce sites along with strategically led traffic drivers to said sites that include, video, social, ooh, digital display, etc.

I routinely hire No Frames to manage the entire production process for me. They navigate the budget, hire crew, and work with me to find production talent (DPs/photographers/stylists), and on camera talent. No Frames also manages scheduling and all assistant AD efforts.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I've been working with them for years and they were initially refereed to me by an inter-company resource. Since then, they've been my first stop at getting a budget proposal and because of their competitiveness and honesty, I rarely have to get additional bids.

I will get a ballpark production budget from the client and then myself and my creative team will ideate ideas based on the client needs. This is usually when I'd loop No Frames in to make sure I'm not proposing anything that may be out of reach. Once we get client signoff on the ideas, I'll put together a shot list and/or storyboards which I would walk No Frames through.

From there, No Frames can put together a cost estimate. The estimating phase usually involves getting anywhere from 2-5 estimate variations due to the creative/budget constraint give and take. Once we're aligned we'll then work with client inviting No Frames to the client calls to discuss our estimates and any concerns the clients may have. Once everything is aligned we'll work with No Frames on hiring a DP, set stylists, etc along with casting.

No Frames handles all the hiring, usage rights, and everything for everyone and once all the details are sorted, will ask for final confirmation before they book. On set, No Frames handles all the catering, PAs and generally handles any detail you could possibly want handled. They're really attentive and make sure any issues are quickly taken care of. The crew recommendations they provide have always panned out and their circle of talent is really great to work with.

I've never had any major issues on set with them. Problems arise, but they're quickly resolved. Post production is great too. They have no qualms providing me all the raw assets I need and they're always there should I have any questions or need help with anything.

Erin is our main point of contact and she connects us with whomever else we need to speak with.

Its too early for this specific project but our past projects have all performed at or better than expectations.

Extremely straightforward, very friendly, offers insights and suggestions that are geared toward project success and are very smart in their own right. They offer up several different means to communicate and I'm never left uncertain and waiting.

Honestly great on all fronts. They're intelligent, kind, and super assertive. They can figure anything out (seriously! I once asked for an elephant as just an idea and they figured out the logistics)

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, theyre much better than any other production company I've worked with.

For photography projects, No Frames helps us put together the final output. While our creative team provides some direction, we lean heavily on their expertise to support us in bringing projects to life. We give a pre-production booklet containing the key visuals we want to obtain and the necessary branding elements. 

We also use No Frames for our videography needs, particularly for large production shoots. They’re able to work on small teams and shoot in multiple locations. They help us find the right spot to film on, get legal approvals, and all other things we might need. Their team makes shoots seamless for us, so we don’t have to do anything. 

In addition, No Frames helps us source talents, props, wardrobe resources, and stylists. Besides the actual output, they assist us in going further in terms of resources. They have a huge network for whatever we’re doing.

I’ve primarily worked with Erin (Co-Founder & Executive Producer), Mikko (Director of Photography), and a producer.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

No Frames’ work always made our agency look good — they’re able to bring our vision to life. Some of their works haven’t been refreshed by our clients and are continued to be used year over year. No Frames’ work stands the test of time. 

How did No Frames perform from a project management standpoint?

No Frames’ project management is excellent. They always deliver early, and they resolve whatever issue we have. They’ve never been late, even when circumstances are beyond their control. They figure things out in a calm and comforting way. 

Beyond their cost-effective budgeting and flexibility, everyone on their team is great. We always feel like we’re taken care of — they work with other clients, but we get the impression that ours is their most important project. 

Sometimes, things change on set because the client wants to approach the project differently. No Frames remains very open despite that. I’ve worked with many production companies who insist on staying within the scope, but No Frames is flexible and willing to work with us. Their creative vision allows them to solve problems.

No Frames’ team has been very professional, kind, and ethical in terms of communication and personality. Everyone loves working with them because they’re such good folks and super trustworthy. I can’t say enough good things about them. We communicate through phone calls and emails.

No Frames’ final output is superior — their product is good in terms of photography, retouching, and expertise. They’re all super creative people, and they have a good eye. They brainstorm with us on the spot and make us feel comfortable — they maximize what we’re doing. 

No Frames doesn’t just provide a service. They find ways to help our agency, optimize the output, and improve the product.

I can’t think of anything.

Be as transparent as possible during the briefing process and don’t hold back any detail. They really shine when they have the full scope of the project and understand all the nuances. If you’re fully transparent with them, they will help you make a better end product.

My client's were always very pleased with the outcome of the final product. The videos they created for us are still present on our client's sites to this day. The visuals have also helped our client's overall branding goals and has helped to propel the client's products to new sales levels.

We always had as many meetings as necessary for everyone to be prepared day of or to share next steps. We communicated via email and phone regularly for any updates or changes. They didn't hesitate to ask questions to insure they understood our needs. They completed the work as expected, always meeting our deadlines.

They showed up on time, always went the extra mile to capture what we needed and even threw in extra content when time permitted. Always made sure we had all of the needed content and always assisted with stoaryboard ideas when needed. They were a great group of nice, hard-working, and well-qualified individuals.

We had a great working relationship so I don't think we could have done anything differently.

I worked with No Frames on a few video projects including a video-heavy microsite which involved multiple global production sites, and an explainer video which was very complex and had multiple animated elements.

I found them through a colleague. I met with Erin and felt that she could be trusted completely with creative and technical elements of complex, high pressure projects.

There were early creative conversations and then No Frames returned with proposed schedules and style boards. Production lasted several months and had many logistical and location elements, editing included multiple rounds of revisions and many setbacks and surprises.

I worked directly with Erin Judd who then liaised with other members of her team. I always felt that Erin was fully in command of her team and could get any feedback to the appropriate person. She was very detail oriented and a very good communicator. She was always willing to go the extra mile to achieve the desired look including bringing in vfx people and color correction experts as needed. There was no ego.

The project was extremely challenging especially in the heart of the pandemic, with production being extra difficult and dangerous. Erin returned a product which was highly creative, thoughtful, and exceeded expectations.

I am the Sr. Creative Project Manager for Webtoon Entertainment. WEBTOON® is the world's largest digital comics platform, home to some of the biggest artists, IP, and fandoms in comics.

For what projects/services did your company hire No Frames, and what were your goals?

We hired No Frames to create a documentary-style video featuring one of our creators talking about their experience starting out on WEBTOON CANVAS, and where their success there has taken them. Our goal was to communicate our brand message of supporting creators and create brand awareness around WEBTOON CANVAS.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We triple-bid this project and selected No Frames based on their creative approach and expertise in this style of content. Their production team was easy to work with, and they worked with our budget.

We had previously produced work as part of the series, so we needed to integrate this particular spots execution into that current workstream, while still maintaining the uniqueness of the story. We had several elements already developed prior to production. The final product would be roughly 2 minutes. No Frames managed the entire life-cycle of the production from pre-production to final delivery. Pre-production included pre-interviews, scripting, storyboarding, and general pre-production needs. The filming took place on location in Trinidad. The post-production workflow was remote.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked directly with the Executive Producer, lead Creative Partner, and Head of Production for this project. The service, communication, and responsiveness were exceptional.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video has recently been released and has received an overwhelmingly positive response for its artistry and story. We are still in the process of measuring its overall performance, but the project integrated well with the previously produced work and elevates the high bar that was set.

The No Frames production team was highly communicative and receptive to our client feedback throughout the project. We used a number of tools (Google docs, Frame.io, etc.) to communicate and share information. We kept on schedule and on budget. The No Frames team handled any issues that arose with deft professionalism.

I was impressed by No Frame's ability to adapt during pre-production and filming to accommodate our needs as the client. They worked as a trusted partner with our team, which was unique because we were first-time clients and the group dynamics felt seamless.

No specific areas of improvment. We always hope to have more in-person touchpoints (vs remote) but understand that is not always feasible given logistical considerations.
