We needed help with website design and development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Netalico designed and developed our website. We had been transitioning from a WordPress site for eight years, so we already had a website skeleton. However, they redesigned it from the ground up.

Our main goal was to bring our e-commerce site up to date. We wanted to make it easier to build product pages because a lot of manual labor was involved in that on our WordPress site. Additionally, we didn't have anywhere to put content, so we couldn't upload blog articles or sales content.

When we talked to our previous developer about making it possible to do all that, he gave us an outdated solution that wasn't visually acceptable. We also tried to integrate our Pinterest advertising with that old site, and he couldn't make it work.

As a result, we wanted to integrate outside apps and push out to search engines better. We also wanted to have a place to point customers to. Our product required a lot of customization, so we needed to tackle that custom side of things.

Netalico's process started with an initial call during which we laid out all our needs and explained our product. They then went through a design process and pitched us a few things and pricing packages to get it done.

Once we started working with them, they laid out everything they thought we would need to have a fully functional site. We went back and forth with them to figure out what the essentials were. Then, they gave us a set of initial designs. We did some tweaking over time, especially on the product pages.

Our product was so complicated that we had a lot of back and forth with them to figure out how to display it correctly. We also wanted to ensure that all the information customers needed was available and easy to access. The page needed to function so that when the product got to our factory, the staff knew what they needed to make once the customer had customized their product.

This process took a month or two. Once we got those details ironed out, they developed the site, and we loaded all the content. We then did a lot of testing to figure out what didn't work. They had to go back to development.

We launched the site in June 2024. After that, we had a retainer with them until January 2025. We had them on retainer to tweak all the little things that needed to be tweaked after the launch. Now, we buy support packages from them.

We worked with three primary people: Bianca, our project manager, one developer, and Lisa, our designer. Occasionally, Bianca would bring in somebody else from their team to answer specific questions we had.

How did you come to work with Netalico?

Netalico was referred to us by BigCommerce. We had a few get-to-know-you calls with different web developers. They listened to us the best. Other companies were intent on making sure we followed a system that they already knew.

They were willing to hear our concerns and get to know our product well. Our product required a lot of customization, and they were willing to tackle that. Other companies wanted us to fit within their mold.

We spent around $110,000.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Revenue has stayed steady. Old California is pretty consistent with what it brings in, and that hasn't changed. Overall, the team's work quality has met our expectations.

How did Netalico perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered the work. The timeline had to be extended, and we went over budget, but that was on us. Communication was the only real difficulty we had.

During the project, communication was very responsive, and they were on top of making all the changes we needed to launch the site. However, after the launch, we had several hiccups in communication that pushed the launch of new features back weeks because we missed each other.

They sent out quarterly surveys to make sure everything was okay. I mentioned in the survey that we were having communication issues and missing updates. They fixed the problem and switched up the project manager. Since then, they've been far more responsive.

We used a Trello board, phone calls, and the occasional video chat.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The site looks and functions the way it does because Netalico considered our concerns and added their expertise. They blended those two things together to create the best possible customer experience.

Overall, the site is designed and functions seamlessly. It is beautiful, and that's what we needed.

What challenge were you trying to address with Netalico Commerce?

We were moving from BigCommerce and WordPress to Shopify. We had a tight timeframe of about 12 weeks to do so. We needed help customizing basic templates and migrating to a new site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Netalico Commerce was responsible for building our Shopify website from scratch, customizing the site template, and migrating our existing content and platform from BigCommerce. We had content from various areas to pull from, and we also had some additional resources for the design work. Netalico Commerce was responsible for helping us find the right themes and applications on Shopify and helping us build the bones so we could do it as efficiently as possible in those 12 weeks.

We brought in a brand book and some wireframes of what it could look like, and we went from there with them. Netalico Commerce ended up doing a lot of project management and some design work, including two custom pages and a handful of modular themes.

Netalico Commerce blended in our brand book guidelines more seamlessly. For instance, they added more textures and specific imagery on the site. The team also added more visual aspects, like a toggle bar for someone to get product assembly service, some iconography to help with buttons and texts, and better navigation that was more custom than the off-the-shelf theme.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a project manager, a designer, and a developer. The project manager ensured that we had weekly reports for the work done and a weekly cadence to discuss things that needed to be done. They updated their project management platform to ensure the right steps were taken at the right time.

How did you come to work with Netalico Commerce?

We found them through a referral because they were a Shopify preferred agency. We vetted seven different providers, and they seemed to be the most reasonably priced with the best sample work. They had a team that could work with us. In contrast, other providers either had exorbitantly high prices or were a skeleton crew that we weren't comfortable with, nor were we sure they could accomplish what we needed within our timeframe.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in September 2024, and it was completed in January 2025.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

At a high level, it was a successful migration in a tight period. We saw no drop-off in traffic, and everything went smoothly. We had a few bugs, which were standard for such a project, and Netalico Commerce quickly addressed them. We'd upload a report using Trello, and they'd typically respond the same day.

How did Netalico Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?

The team was on task and gave us a refined list of step-by-step things to do and how to move forward. Netalico Commerce was accommodating and reasonable. There were changes, and they were flexible with them. They did a good job of ensuring we had that cadence and that things were moving forward to meet our deadline.

From a budget standpoint, it stayed pretty close to the quote we received. It went slightly over, but it was within the realm of most projects going over. It wasn't exorbitant but a little higher than we anticipated.

We used Trello for project management, Google Meet for communication, and Google Docs.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Katherine, our project manager, was on task.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their project management, flexibility, partnership, and response were excellent. They were easy to work with in a lot of ways.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could be extra clear about the expectations and deliverables upfront. That might have helped us in our situation. We experienced missed expectation setting or confusion regarding the design work. Due to our limited budget and brand refresh, we already knew what we wanted to look like. 

Although we had a short timeframe, we needed to bring in additional freelance resources for the design work to get around it and get what we wanted for our launch. With what we came to them with, the project was a little gray. 

Sometimes, clients want a top-to-bottom build, which will cost extra dollars because they're doing design work and imagery. Other clients wish to have a bare minimum backend build. We were caught somewhere in between, which was a tricky thing. That added to some of the confusion.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ensure you have aligned expectations upfront. Everything else is straightforward. Focus on expectation setting.

I hired Netalico Commerce to help me establish a digital presence for my brand. I needed to launch a website since it was a new brand.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We did our project in multiple steps. First, I asked Netalico Commerce to create a coming soon page, then an educational blog, and finally, to launch the e-commerce site. Netalico Commerce has worked on all those steps and created fundamental email templates.

Initially, we had a couple of conversations about our goals with Netalico Commerce. I provided the team with some key features I wanted to see and some competitive websites I liked. I've chosen a Shopify template with most of the features built-in, and Netalico Commerce has modified it accordingly to include my requests. The team has launched our website, and we continue to work with them as needed for any updates.

Netalico Commerce is very honest and flexible. The team offers solutions that make sense for our business and don't try to oversell me, which is unusual for an agency. This showcases Netalico Commerce's integrity.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I may have preferred a more full-service approach. Sometimes, work is a little self-service because the team has taught me how to use Shopify. I've learned so much about Shopify and how to use it. Netalico Commerce could charge me more; instead, they've taught me how to do things myself. Although that has been uncomfortable sometimes, it ended up being the best solution. Additionally, I'd have preferred more Zoom meetings throughout the engagement and not just at the end.

As long as you have someone on your team who is comfortable being a little more hands-on, you will have a good experience with Netalico Commerce. The team is very transparent and above board, making them a good team to work with.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Our timeline was tight. As soon as we enlisted Netalico Commerce, they began selecting potential theme options. I decided which theme I liked the best, and we proceeded from there. 

The team focused on improving our website's functionality and design. With Shopify websites, the underlying functionality was already in place, but they worked on optimizing the cart and product pages.

On the design side, we were introducing new branding. I desired a simple and sleek appearance for our current design, unlike our previous one. Netalico Commerce redid the website to maximize its attractiveness to potential customers. Additionally, I aimed for it to be fast, with high conversion rates, and visually appealing.

Although I don't have any particular KPIs, it's important to note that Netalico Commerce completed the website according to my desired specifications. The website was delivered punctually, despite the tight deadline. 

On the less positive side, unfortunately, our conversion rate has dropped, but that isn't a result of the website. 

How did Netalico Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?

The Netalico Commerce team was responsive, and they did a great job. We went slightly over the budget, but it was in line with the guidelines I'd given them.

I primarily communicated with them via email, phone, or Zoom meetings. While they also utilized Asana, I only made a little use of it.

Overall, their team delivered an esthetically pleasing and intuitive-to-use website within a compressed timeline.

Netalico Commerce did a great job. I can't think of any areas for improvement.

It's essential to establish clear expectations regarding your role in the relationship. In my case, I aimed to guide them without being overly nitpicky or micromanaging.

I’m a department director at a device screen protection company that also specializes in consumer technology health. We sell products for various purposes, ranging from screen protection to radiation protection. In my role, I oversee our website and Amazon channels.

We did a rebrand of our company in 2020. Thus, we were looking to redesign our website and do a complete overhaul of its frontend so that it represented our new brand. Another company created the new design, but we needed help implementing it into the website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Netalico has helped us implement our website’s new design and develop new features. Throughout our engagement, they’ve added various integrations, and they continuously develop new improvements for the different services our e-commerce site handles.

Currently, Netalico also provides us with maintenance services; they’ve basically become our web development partners. As for the technology stack, our website was built in Magento, and Netalico has developed the custom features using PHP and SQL.

Through this website, we sell screen protectors and other phone accessories directly to consumers — it serves as a standard e-commerce store. Still, we’ve added custom integrations with our products, where customers can register their products for a lifetime warranty. We also offer screen insurance with our products, so customers can also register for that on the website as well.

These integrations help us keep track of the products that our customers have purchased, allowing us to manage insurance claims directly through the site. For example, if a customer needs a replacement screen protector, they can go to our website, order one at any time, and just pay the shipping fee.

In 2021, we worked with Netalico to integrate our insurance plan data into POS systems across Canada and the US. This integration allowed us to sell insurance plans virtually through POS systems at the stores our screen protectors were being sold. That project was a multi-company collaboration where Netalico worked alongside a POS company.

I’ve worked directly with four people from Netalico, including Mark (CTO & Founder), Emily (E-Commerce Solutions Specialist), Bianca (Project Manager), and Lisa (Chief Design Officer).

We heard about them from a business partner. They were using Netalico to develop an integration into their system, and we saw that their project was similar to ours, so we reached out to them.

Netalico has met our deadlines and launch dates. Moreover, their quotes have been very accurate. As for communication, we have weekly meetings and communicate over Slack, chat, and email.

The structure of Netalico’s team is outstanding. They have talented and high-skilled team members, and they’ve structured their company very well for efficiency in getting tasks and projects done. They make things easy for us as a client.

It would be great if we had a few more updates throughout the week as projects are being worked on. We juggle between different task management platforms, but we sometimes don’t get notified about deliverables ready to be tested. Although Netalico updates project statuses on those platforms, we don’t notice it until our next meeting.

Have clear expectations about your project, and give them as much information and direction as possible. The more information you provide them with, the more they can leverage their internal teams to help you achieve your goals.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their work has been instrumental in helping us double our conversion rates. We were at a 2.5% conversion rate, and now we’re close to 6%, which is remarkable because it helped us double our monthly sales as well — thanks to them, we’re having the best year of online sales we’ve ever had. In addition, the speed of our website is twice as it was before Netalico Commerce took over, which is especially important for mobile users because it loads faster, so people don’t get distracted and bounce.

How did Netalico Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication has been exceptional, and they’ve delivered everything exceeding my expectations in terms of turnaround times. Regarding tools, we use email for daily communication, Zoom for quarterly calls, and Trello to organize our tasks. Overall, Katherine has been doing an incredible job and is an amazing person to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their work is outstanding and top-tier. We’ve had very few bugs and downtimes because they’re very professional and finish everything promptly, which helps us constantly improve our website. In addition, their costs are fair, and I feel we’re getting incredible value for our money.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — my only advice for them is to keep up the good work. They’ve been incredible to work with; I’ve worked with many outsourced developers, and Netalico Commerce is by far the most superior provider I’ve had.

I can’t recommend them enough. Work with Netalico Commerce, and you’ll save a lot of time and improve your online sales.

We have many small customers that buy from us case by case instead of ordering by pallets, so we needed an option for them to be able to order through us. We had another development company working for us in building a customer portal through our website, but working with that other provider wasn't easy because the costs and the time zones weren't working for us. Besides, the platform had a lot of flaws and efficiencies that we wanted to fix.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Netalico Commerce has been doing maintenance and upgrades for our existing Magento website and customer portal to make our ordering process more efficient and solve its current issues. When they came in, we told them what our problems were and solved everything within a couple of months.

Their team has helped us streamline our order processing to make them more quick and efficient. Moreover, they figured out a way to make an API connection from our site to our UPS account to enable us to ship orders from our Tennessee and California facilities, which was something that our previous provider couldn’t achieve.

We’re currently working on further development for the platform, but Netalico Commerce is waiting for us to do some testing on certain tasks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They've jumped on everything we've asked them to do and gotten it done correctly and quickly. In terms of metrics, it used to take us 1–2 hours to process orders, and thanks to their work, it takes us less than 20 minutes, so our productivity increased by 90%, which has enabled us to get other important things done instead. Moreover, we're now able to ship orders out of both of our facilities, which saves our customers and us hundreds of thousands of dollars on shipping costs and enables us to provide faster shipping services for our East Coast customers.

How did Netalico Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?

The turnaround times are spot on, which is completely the opposite of what we were used to with our previous provider. Moreover, communication and transparency with them are outstanding; we're able to jump on weekly calls with them to check in, and that's a relief for us compared to our other experiences. Overall, Tamara and Mark have been great in ensuring to deliver everything on time and efficiently.

Regarding tools, we use Trello for project management to see what they're working on and what they've finished.

They're easy to communicate with and are able to figure out all of our requirements.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on because Netalico Commerce is a massive improvement over our previous provider. Netalico Commerce's team is straightforward with their pricing and project management, which is very helpful.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Netalico handles all tasks related to our website’s frontend development, including developing new experiences, fixing issues, providing maintenance, and upgrading it constantly. We already had a site based on Shopify Plus using a Shopify theme for its design, so Netalico has built upon it. In the future, we might undergo a redesign process with them. The site’s technology stack also includes standard programming languages such as JavaScript and HTML.

At the beginning of our engagement, Netalico went through our site’s code base and identified a lot of areas of opportunity to repair parts of the coding that weren’t written well. They also made a lot of UI/UX design recommendations to make our different pages more interactive, modern, and user-friendly.

Netalico recently finished redesigning our four different collection pages, and they’re now focusing on optimizing our site’s speed to prepare for the holiday season. Moreover, we’ve recently also partnered with them for SEO. They have a set number of hours each week dedicated to SEO work, which includes identifying key opportunities and implementing on-site SEO recommendations that their SEO expert makes to their development team.

We regularly work with two people from Netalico: Katherine (Project Manager & UX Designer) and the SEO expert.

How did you come to work with Netalico Commerce?

Netalico came highly recommended. Our CEO has a very strong network in Denver, Colorado. When he was talking to the founder of another company, they recommended Netalico, and we contacted them.

Our team is easily distractable, so we really value concise and quick communication over receiving extremely long, detailed, and unnecessary information. Thus, one of the qualities that made us choose Netalico was that they were great at communicating in a very concise way. Additionally, their past UI/UX design work was top-notch, so we hired them.

We started working together around October 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Netalico has brought our site into the modern world, and their SEO work has been fantastic so far. As for specific metrics, we’ve seen a 25% yearly increase in our conversion rate. Although we can’t attribute that result directly to Netalico, our website is our greatest sales tool. If we’re achieving sales conversions on the site, it means that Netalico is doing their work well.

How did Netalico Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a very flexible engagement with Netalico regarding timelines, and they always want to ensure they’re doing their work right. Although we’ve had a few delays, they’ve always been extremely communicative about why things are taking longer than expected. Still, they’ve also delivered projects early.

Oftentimes, we end up paying overage fees for extra hours because Netalico provides us with excellent ideas we get very executed about implementing. However, they also give us great deals on those extra hours.

We use Trello for task management and communicate via email for urgent requests. For example, whenever we see an issue with the site, we send them a quick email, and they fix the issue for us. Additionally, we have regular bi-weekly calls with them to get updates and see if they need anything from us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality we value the most about Netalico is their excellent communication. Their consistency in communication helps drive projects forward and keeps us in the loop, so we never have to worry about what’s happening. Their team has the freedom to make changes to the site as necessary; we fully trust them and don’t micromanage them. Moreover, Katherine is personable, fun to work with, and very good at what she does.
